Oh, you didn't know?

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:55 am

I've read posts before where members have talked about basic functions and features of the game that they did not discover until many hours into Skyrim. Many people have said that they didn't know you could rotate the characters and items on the loading screens, others talked about not being aware that you can pick up items and move them around (a feature that's been in since Morrowind if I remember correctly).

I'm wondering, what other features did you guys (and gals) not discover until you had logged many hours in the game. Perhaps this thread will also be helpful in allowing others to discover new features.

Sheathing allows me to not waste an arrow or spell. I wish that tip had come up earlier.

I didn't know this existed either. I'll have to look into it.

Ha. No doubt. My next-door neighbor told me about this one. And I introduced him to The Elder Scrolls series. I've saved many arrows with this.

I didn't know how to apply a poison to a weapon mostly because I never tried though and just heard about it. When I wanted to try I just sat in front of my screen with the poison highlighted but not selected. I thought I would drink it like a potion if I selected it

I wondered if those maps had some sort of significance. I've never really looked at them that closely.

Manually mining ore by swinging a pick axe at an ore vein. I literally had been playing Skyrim for a month before I realized that. I still never use it but it's cool to know all the same.

Just focus the reticule on the flags and your map will update.

If you use the Dual Flurry and two Picks, you get ore real fast.

Hmm... Totally hadn't considered that. Would be be funny to see some NPC's mine using that method though.

I figured out those maps with forts on them quite quickly. However, I kept clicking on each fort over and over and over because it kept saying that it had been added to the map, and I kept thinking it was just one fort I had forgotten. That's probably 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Well, there we go. I never knew that. I always just clicked A and watched the animation nine times. I wish there was a spell to mine ore.
