Do you have any irrational hatreds?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 3:38 pm

Seeing some people respond to my Pokemon thread, it makes me wonder how someone can actually have a hatred of a game.
It just doesn't click in my mind, are games so important that they degrade your life in any way?

One of my friends hates macs. I mean he HATES them. He'll go off on some crazy tangent whenever someone even mentions one.
I understand the arguments; lack of games, over priced, apple is evil, Its tailored to hipsters, etc. What I don't get is why people just hate them. Its not like its mandatory to own one.

Hell, I've been building gaming PCs for years, but I still like my Macbook Pro. I know I'm crazy, but I just find it simpler and less of a hassle. It may be more money, but its my money and I'll spend it how I want.

I don't know if this is irrational or not, but I absolutely hate it when someone goes through the Self-Checkout with a full cart.
Theres a special place in hell for those people. A grocery store in my town has a couple self checkouts, and they even say "15 items or less", yet no doubt you'll always see someone with a full cart going through there, and no one stops them.

Same with Walmart. They're express lanes have a "limit" of 20 items. I just want to pay for my damn batteries and go, but there is always some idiot who takes way to long because they have a frak-ton of items. Yet no one stops them, they just fake a smile. (I'm sure its not the employee's fault, probably store policy or something)

I vented a bit; Do you have any irrational hatred.

Groups of people who walk three wide down the sidewalk and don't step aside for you.

Drivers who ride your bumper when you're already going five over the speed limit.

Peas. I hate peas.

Oh, and like what we're talking about in Skype, timed missions in games.

I try not to hate anything or anyone. I can say I really don't like something but to hate it, to me, is a whole other ball park.

In grocery stores: people who leave their carts sideways at the beginning of an aisle while they look at items at the other end and then get mad and start [censored]ing at you when you try moving it so you can get in. Few things piss me off more than this.

Oh! And people who cut in front of you going half your speed while driving.

Edit: And people on bicycles. Doesn't matter if driving or walking...

I hate that so much to.

I'm trying to walk down the sidewalk and these kids just have to walk side by [censored] side.
I'm a real pushover, so I won't say anything, but in my mind I'm punching each one of them.

Is there some reason that whenever people are in a group, they have to walk super slow? Is it a subconscious thing, or a dike thing?

I hate it when the volume of the TV/Computer is an odd number that is not a multiple of 5. Give me an even number or a multiple of 5!

Also the sound of silverware scraping plate or pans. I hate it. So much.

moths...they're just gross. They should all die. Other than that most of my hatreds are pretty rational.

Rooster Teeth?

Just wondering, I listen to that Podcast and they had a discussion on the same exact thing.

People who steal stars in Mario Party... That game will ruin a friendship
-Bigots.
-Hypocrites
-People who act like they know what they are doing when they have absolutely no clue
-as many have said before, the people who ride your bumper when you are already doing 5 over, and do not even know how to use directional lights
-over-organization... I hate it so much... I can NEVER have a spotless room. I forget where i put stuff. I know where everything I could possibly need is in my room, but everyone tries to "take the liberty" to organize it and I can not find anything for a month. My room is controlled chaos.

WORST OF ALL: Sour cream. Absolutely despise it.

All of my hatreds are perfectly rational.

And that would be the case in most cases. People who hate something, usually have a reason and usually it's valid, and if not then it is valid at least to them.

I'd have to say that I hate dogs irrationally though since I have Cynophobia, I probably wouldn't even call it irrational if I didn't know there was such a thing as a "phobia" which makes it an irrational thing.

So I have an irrational fear that turns into an irrational hatred where I feel like the world would be a better place if there were no dogs at all. Of course I know it's wrong but that's just the way I think.

Nowadays all of my hatred is in the rational chunk of my mind. My irrational mind has been sectioned off such that it is only accessed when I'm prompted to feel something meaningful, like love or remorse. Which never happens, when I can help it. :P

Edit: And people on bicycles. Doesn't matter if driving or walking...
Aww... I like bicycles...

I hate it when the volume of the TV/Computer is an odd number that is not a multiple of 5. Give me an even number or a multiple of 5!
I suppose I ought to tell you that I can only think in multiples of 2... 4... 8. 16! 32! 64!

Programming does weird things to your head, I can tell you that.

ITT: Mostly rational hatreds. :P

I don't hate many things, but out of those I don't think I have any irrational hatreds. I'm guilty of the volume one myself though, I like it to be a nice even number. :whistling:

Sharks. God. Damned. Sharks.

No matter how much my friends tell me how "harmless" sharks are to most people, I can't believe it. Sharks are soulless, man eating machines hell-bent on exterminating the human race and everything nice and good in the world. I refuse to believe anything else.

Oh, and people who brag about their high test scores and grades. I secretly pray for them to get an F or low test score all the time.

Sharks are beasts. Beasts are useless, made to be hunted and killed. DON'T EVER CHANGE, MAN

The joke's ultimately on them, since they're all wasting their skills on stupid bureaucratic competitions which yield nothing practical whatsoever.

This happens to me all the time when I'm walking on campus at my university. I just stop in my tracks to wait and see if they'll get the hint and move or if they'll walk smack into me.

Rap. I don't care what kind it is or how supposedly poetic and well written the "lyrics" are, I hate it. When I hear some car thumping and bumping down the street with the F-bomb being tossed right and left by some ghetto gangsta fool I wish evil, evil things on the wannabee with bad taste and no clue driving it.

Also, this. I also hate it when birds start mocking me through my window as I'm trying to sleep.

Cops. Not plainclothes ones, but the 2peice-suits-made-out-of-used-carpet wearing detectives. I wouldn't call it irrational since they're all dirty.

Are airguns regulated in Norway? Very useful for keeping pests away. You crack a few of their little skulls with a well-placed shot and they learn to avoid you. If they don't it's still a win-win cause shooting at them is great sport.
