Do you have any irrational hatreds?

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 9:46 pm

(To other users, not ALL the Southern US is like that, but it's prevalent enough in some regions to make you want to get very pissy)
It's actually prevalent in some regions? So it's not a stereotype but rather just slightly exaggerated truth?

Usage of the word "indie" in place of "independent" makes me shudder.

Nope, it's a very real truth. My brother in laws family isn't as bad as the stereotypes, but they're pretty up there on the white trash-odometer.

If you could no one would live here anymore.

Wait... You're in the EU. Take advantage of that immigration policy or summat.

Drivers who ride your bumper when you're already going five over the speed limit.

This. This. 1000x this. What I really need is one of those LED signs like they have in front of businesses in the back window of my car just so I can tell them to [censored] off in a more creative way than the one every driver knows.

I hate "Rest In Peace".

They won't rest in peace, they're dead.

So what do you do then when a relative passes on? Say nothing? Personally I find not saying anything to be disrespectful, the least you can do is say a few words.

@SheridanR no it is definitely irrational.

People who come over uninvited ("drop ins"). Ok, once in a very blue moon this is acceptable, like in an emergency or if you're only in town for 3 hours and I haven't seen you in years, but generally speaking, I do not do well with surprise visits and doing this more than a few times (for no real reason) will immediately put you on my "I don't like them very much" list. And eventually I may stop answering the door. Because I'm mean and cranky like that.

That reminds me of a friend of mine telling me about this awesome bumper sticker that he saw. It was the usual sort of size, plain white, and in the middle it had very small, neat script in an inoffensive blue colour:

bugger off

Irrational hatred? Hmm, I must say I hate the hype behind things like Twilight and Justin Bieber and other such phenomenons.

Yes, I know someone will likely point out the irony that I am a Brony and they have a similar hype.

Irrational hatred?

Those hoker/rider boots that suddenly came into fashion. I mean, ladies... Stop it with the bovine clod-hopping noise and that scary gestapo "click" walk that sends a chill up my spine. Not sixy... No way.

CIA field liaison officers -these [censored] [censored] monkey [censored] ass [censored] no good [censored] [censored] [censored] pieces of deranged [censored] [censored] cowardly mother [censored] [censored] that can all suffer [censored] [censored] for all [censored] eternity. :swear:

there are others, but these waste of space motherless [censored] birds all need to DIE! :flame:

If you can guess, I've had less than exemplary interactions with them.

ps, please don't disagree with me on this or I'll be forced to rip you a new one, in the nicest possible way

It's a dirty business managed by dirty individuals. And these people are the best asset for fighting dirty individuals. They are not soldiers of the same brush as you and me, but civilian "liaison" to the military... The mores, mission, and goals are not the same. Lie cheat and steal for the gold. Not exactly a code of conduct for most professional soldiers these days. Did you expect boy scouts?

And yes, I've worked with them both in MAITS and the School of the Americas.

What reason is it endowed with? It is just respectful to say something to the dead. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything, I'm not really thinking straight because my grandad died today and I shouldn't have posted.

Thanks.

It's just that I couldn't imagine letting a relative die without showing respect, whether they were liked or disliked, to not to IMO would make the person come across as very cold. Anyone for that matter, not just relatives.

I don't like it either. The way I see it, the only thing you can do at that point is comfort his friends and family. No point in wasting effort to comfort a corpse. The guy himself is dead.
These reasons are perfectly valid and they won't disappear just because some unwritten social code has prohibited you from appreciating them.

Sorry about your grandad, though.

It's ok, thanks.

But a hatred or dislike of showing respect to the dead is just something I find plain wrong. If we were all that cold we should just throw all of our passed people onto a big pile and burn them because who cares? They are dead.

I confess, I am a chewing gum hater. Almost phobia degree.

I am a hater of gum completely. But not the sound, no. Any loud repeating sound would be annoying anyway. I hate the gum itself, the package, the bubble, everything about gums. The image more than anything. With women, it intensifies: A shattering image of elegance. Brrrrrr.

If you chew anything else but gum, it doesn't trigger.

I think it is the everlasting plastic and sticky nature of it revolting me most. That's the best rationale I can come with.

I live with it. I kindly refuse any offerings and stay quite.
