Do you have any irrational hatreds?

*Innocently dips his knife in the preserves jar* :whistling:
That would put me into a rage.

I hate Americans that don't know English as well... Which is like, the entire population.

Is that because we don't spell color colour or theater theatre like Frenchified fops?

I have plenty covering a wide array of topics..but i understand their irrational and i make fun of them,or try to until someone gets serious and starts getting all high and mighty.

One example is polka dots,I despise them..Why?

I once dated a girl whose wardrobe, from dresses to earrings, consisted of everything being polka dotted.

I hold no special feelings towards her, good or bad,but to this day polka dots just drive me up the wall.

I mean really friggin dots?!?

Speak for yourself, i'm not leaving unless someone drags me out :hehe:
Our nation needs more self-deprecation buddy. If we are being honest I would not leave this country unless I am offered a good job somewhere else, which may be likely when I get my microbiologist's papers.

When I'm in class, usually a math course, and the professor/teacher aid makes the whole class do a problem and it's all quiet because everyone is try to figure it out, then out of nowhere there's always that person that has to slam their pencil down and lean back to let everyone know they figured it out.

Another irrational hatred is when I see people writing "w/" instead of "with". It's okay as shorthand in notes, but if it's peppered throughout otherwise regular text it's just irritating. A bit like writing "u" for "you" and other text-speak-isms, I suppose.
I used to write much more "professionally" in terms of grammar and the like but I find the longer I'm on the internet (I mean years, not months), the more I use common text shorthand, along w/other things. ;) Not all the time, but often enough.

I still don't use things like "u" but some abbreviations are becoming more and more frequent. It depends a lot on what I'm writing or responding to, however. Shorter, more casual stuff, I'll do it more often. Long drawn out replies/posts, a lot less often. The one I can't quite seem to let go of, however, is using "tho" in place of although or however. I'm not sure exactly when/why I started to use it (long long time ago) but I use it constantly in casual text now.

Yeah I do that. The reason? I like competing with my classmates. Especially friends and we like to give each other a hard time if we beat each other at something. Competiveness makes us better though. Not like it's done for attention. Or are there people who really are THAT attention hungry? [censored] nvm I am sure there are.

I have an irrational fear of spiders. I always blame it on being bitten by one as a child, but I was also stung by a wasp and have very little fear of wasps, so who knows? They just look funny.

I think that is cute. Just look at the expression on its face! It just wants to be loved.

My other half doesn't share my affection for spiders though; I often have to rescue them from her. Squealing like that must terrify them.

I wonder how intelligent spiders are? That was a cute spider with 'puppy' eyes though.

That's what i was going to say. Such a cute little 8-legged predator

Funny thing is, i can't stand big insects. Or centipedes of all sizes. I blame it on that one scene in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom that i saw when i was a kid :yuck: It was just shown on TV last sunday, and it's still more terrible than both Dead Spaces combined :hehe:

No MLP thank you very much. The Internet is full of it already.

And I do not think that this hatred is particularly irrational :stare:

I'd pick the jumping-spider over that thing any day. But to be fair, jumping-spiders are cool little arachnids either way.

Probably not very; Bugs, insects, arachnids, and the like tend to have little in the way of brain matter, functioning mostly on instinct. Orb Weavers make structurally-sound webs because they're programmed to, not because they have any active comprehension of good vs bad architecture. However, spiders have been observed both to learn and to have individual responses to stimuli, i.e., different spiders of the same species will react differently to the same thing, indicating at least some degree of individual personality, however small. Especially with larger, long-lived spiders like tarantulas. Jumping spiders like the one in the picture are often very curious, and if one gets in the house I enjoy dragging a pencil across the ground near it, watching it follow it around.

So, while I don't think they have much of anything that could be considered "thoughts", they're more than just hollow bug-eating machines.

Sadly, however, they cannot understand affection.
