Do you think the mods help this forum?

Post » Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:43 pm

What do you think? I've never had a bad experience with a mod on this forum, but some people give them crap. Why? They help us stay in order, why do some of you attack them?

I have no problems with any of them. Great group of people if you ask me, I mean, how could you go wrong with a name like Booty Sweat :P.

I've been on these forums for a long time, and I can honestly say that I would have left a long time ago if it weren't for the mods. They keep this place relatively spam free and make sure everyone is on their best behavior. There is a reason this forum has one of the best communities I've ever seen.

This forum wouldn't be this forum without the mods. If I wanted a cesspit of spam I'd go to the IGN boards. And like ska8tdude said, this forum has one of, if not the, best communities I've seen - and I attribute that directly to the mods.

Meh... I wouldn't even like to imagine this forum unmoderated. Civil discourse would be impossible. The only people left would be the troublemakers. The moderators do a great (and mostly thankless) job.

*shrugs* I see them like Mr. House and his police robots. The rules are firm but fair, and they keep us in line, and the occassional delinquent thinks it's cute to make trouble, or someone unintentionally steps out of line, and they ensure a good time is had by all.

I've had no trouble with power abusive mods, I've heard rumours, but I suspect most of them to be angry because they got in trouble.

I love the mods, they are great. Imagine all the flame-wars we would have without them.

I think the moderators are largely level-headed and reliable. It must take considerable constraint not to abuse the moderating powers, as I'm sure most of us would take great pleasure in wielding such omnipotence. I, personally would reek irreversible havoc, changing every members avatar to a photo of west country comedian, Jethro.

Making threads about moderator actions is not allowed...

Individual moderator actions are what we don't want discussed. Global moderator discussions are allowed.

We are more than willing to discuss individual moderator actions via PM either with the moderator that performed the action or with one of the community managers (Gstaff or Nick Breckon) if someone feels it is needed .

I have to ask what exactly you're talking about? When do people give the mods "a hard time"? I've never seen that. Not even once.

I love this forum BECAUSE of the mods. If it weren't for the mods, this forum/board in general would be a flame/trollfest like every other forum. And that's why this is the only one I visit.

I really haven't been on another forum that is as active, friendly, and as organized as this one. If it weren't for the mods the forum would always look the way it did when the Fallout 3 leak happened. (Which the moderators handled very nicely.)

Because they svck! We don't need no stinkin' mods! They closed my thread for, like, no reason whatsoever, yapping on about rules and warned me for just telling the truth in someone's face. Which was just my opinion, you know?! Booo! :obliviongate:

I'm interested to know this too.

Despite Booty Sweat's rather inappropriate name (which comes from a rather vulgar fictional commercial) he did an excellent job of serving as an informational hub for those joining the forums or for those looking for information on Skyrim. I haven't been around that often recently, but I assume he still holds himself to this standard. :)

Other than that, i'd never expect a moderator of all board members to care when I do something small like change my avatar or want to help me promote my fan art by forwarding it to Gstaff. So thank you for supporting me and sending me little hints of your recognition. You know who you are. :)

I remember something about violating civil rights being mentioned a few times ;P

Newest thing I've heard was something about a secret group of people that are disinformation agents

The mods do a great job in keeping a sense of order.

If they weren't here all the threads would be like the spam you see in most youtube videos. There are certain rules in place that some people don't like but that is tough they are there to reduce the amount of trolling and flame baiting there would otherwise be.

If there were no mods the, more mature and intelligent members of this community would no doubt disappear and we wouldn't have threads such as the ~Community Tech Thread~ which has some brilliant info and helps many people with various problems.

The Bear may be scary and that monkey annoying but they are possibly the most important members here along with all the other mods

Usually it's the Freedom of Speech that gets thrown around by ...posters that need moderator attention?

Anyway, this is indeed one of the most civil forums i've ever been to. Which is part of the reason why i'm still here :)
