I wish that my two older brothers would play Skyrim, but my two older brothers are way too busy doing other random things, darn!

46 here. I remember playing Ultima 3 on my Atari 800XL, building forts out of the treasure chests, and thinking it was the best game ever.

Yep, when people tell me I'm too old to be playing them I tell them...

When people say that I am too old to be playing video games (which will be a few decades later) I'll say...

"Really? I think I deserve it from finally perfecting virtual reality technology and figuring out the release date for Half Life 3? November 16th, 2066 is coming!"

If only...

This is one of the reasons video game legislation keeps holding traction in the US. Many people in the older crowd (which happens to include many legislators) simply do not believe that advlts actually play video games. They see them only as a "child's toy" and think the industry is lying to them when they say some of the games they make are targeted at advlts.

In reality, the first two generations of kids that grew up with video games are advlts now. It's a hobby just like any other, it just seems unreal to those that were never exposed to them as kids. In addition, those advlt gamers also have this really enticing attribute to game publishers...disposable income. Kids get games as gifts on special occassions or when they save up enough small change for them. advlts buy a new game whenever they feel like it (relatively speaking). It should be common sense that games would be made targeting advlt gamers...it just seems unbelievable to many of those that were never exposed to them before they reached middle age. I bet many of them still play the same games they learned when they were kids too.

The old Atari console got me to be a fan of video games, that makes me a video gaming veteran.

I'm only 22 so I guess i'm not worthy of posting in this thread :P but I wanted to stop in and express my gratitude to all the "old breed". Without you guys, gaming would never have transformed into the behemoth it is today. It seems like the older crowd keeps to themselves more or less, and leaves the whining and moaning to us younger scrubs :) Keep on gaming guys and FUS RO DAH !!

I'll be turning 50 this year. And I was RPG'ing before there were PCs and video games (D&D P&P, lol). I remember when the first Pong showed up in our arcade (it was pinball until that point).

I never did get how you can be too old to play a video game. I am sure we all grew up singing twinkle twinkle little star yet no one ever says music is for kids. Now if you catch me playing My Little Pony again that is a different story.

People who think video games are kids toys do not understand the new art form and what is about to explode.
