Your most unpleasant way to awake

I like to be cold when I rest, when someone turns on the heater I wake up and not in a good mood.

Being startled awake by the phone or a loud noise outside is a bit unsettling. And waking up in pain stinks. But I guess the worse was waking up to a bear trying to crawl into a window I'd left open. YIKES!
Rohugh decided to pay an early morning visit, eh? :homestar:

I can't decide which is worse, awake with a bear outside your open window, or a spider in front of your face. :bolt:

1. lol.
2. What if both happened and you had painful cramps, so you could do nothing.

Then you should probably close your eyes and think of your happy-place... Because since you can't see them, they aren't there, right? :P

I'd take the spider any day. Well, as long as it's small enough to be be killed with one finger :hehe:

Oh yeah, I woke up choking about a year ago. That was extremely scary. As I made a mad dash to get help downstairs (stomping loudly on the floor the whole way) before I died I managed to clear my throat and started desperately gasping for air.

Glad I didn't pass out. My roommates thought I was going to throw up and simply rolled over and went back to sleep. I'd be dead today.

Well, I just freaked myself out again thinking how close that was. Probably why I didn't think of it right off the bat.

A friend of mine said she was concerned that I kept choking and not breathing and stuff while I slept. I went for a sleep study where they hooked me up to all sorts of contraptions and told me I stopped breathing 55 times an hour, which was slightly alarming. I suspect not as severe as your experience, though I was slightly disappointed with the findings.

Still, not as bad as finding that spider in my mouth, especially as there's evidence that it found its way there through my nose.

I've gotta add the time when we set our camp into a swamp... Nice plan. Atleast our opfor didn't search form there.
Ok, I got a story for you:

Mid-winter 2002, temperature about -35C, sometime in the morning around 4-5AM. I'm shook awake by a squadmate, feeling absolutely frozen. My hands are numb, my tongue is nearly an icicle in my mouth, and there's that horrible intake of breath that feels like svcking in ice vapor (think of Gandalf gasping as he wakes at the top of the mountain in LoTR.) Turns out my "friend" had nodded off during his stag and let the fire burn out, but instead of relighting it he crawled into his sleeping bag and nudged me awake to deal with it, being my watch next. So I get dressed, barely able to do the buttons, go outside for more wood and kindling, feeling around in the snow of a dark forest for some birch bark (nature's own firestarter) and after about 10 minutes finally manage to light a damn match with my useless, cramping hands, shivering uncontrollably and nearing hypothermia.

That was a pretty rough way to wake up.

2 AM - by strange beeping. At first I thought it's the smoke detector and the batteries are dying. I'm still half asleep and take down the smoke thing, take out the battery, beeping is still going on. It took me around 10 minutes to figure out it came from my alarm system panel. It just started, in the middle of the night for NO apparent reason. -.- I was able to turn it off. Oh yea, my phone was off for like a few hours (internet/cable phone). But still no reason to wake me up - darn it! LOL

My cats know better not to wake me up during the night!

Waking up feeling like you've been eating sand in your sleep and you wake up with your throat feeling like it's literally dying of thirst. I hate those moments. @__@

Freaking heck I hate that...

I think mine was when I heard a gun shot close to my house and then I smelled the horrible smell of skunk. Turns out my dad was trying to shoot a Skunk in the head so it wouldn't have time to spray. He missed the head, the skunk sprayed, and it happened to be under the deck which is right by my room. The skunk died, but I had to sleep in a different room for almost a month.

Waking up with my all my limbs asleep, my head groggy, and bad morning mouth.

Happened yesterday.

Also ice cold water was splashed on me once(whole bucket full, it was a prank), very unpleasant.

Waking up with my right under my side, making it extremely numb. It felt like rubber and took a few minutes to go back to normal.

Oh, I change my answer from fire alarm to reveille blasted over the speakers in basic. Yeah, that's the worst. I still shiver when I hear it in the morning now (even though I'm already awake)... LOL. Or even better, reveille with a bunch of MTI's banging on beds and screaming at you and telling you to be in uniform in an impossible amount of time and every time just one person fails everyone has to get undressed, get back into bed and start over.... Yeah...

Also being woken up at 4.00 am to the doorbell, jumping out of bed grabbing a long bladed knife, and my maglite baton torch, rushing to the front door, to be face to face with a guy in a blue uniform with the same baton torch shining it in each others face, he understood thankfully why i was pointing a long bladed knife at him, worst was getting my vision back to see 3 police cars, and then being told that our neighbour had called the police thinking we were being broken into, it was actually 4 possums fighting.

Funniest that happened to someone else was a friend who's boyfriend had just joined the army reserve, he was asleep she lent over his ear and screamed out STAND TO, he dived out of bed and started to put his clothes on till he realised where he was.
