You know how we were supposed to get a cloth map with the pre-order? Well, it would seem that from every unboxing I've watched all the maps have been out of paper. What the heck Bethesda!

I would have just pre-ordered it off Steam if I had known that it would just be some cheap piece of paper.

And its supposed to be a burlap and those guys got theres early.

none of the maps are cloth. i don't get where people got the idea that they were.

If I'm not mistaken it had been confirmed that there would be a cloth map delivered. When I pre-ordered on Amazon it even said so.

The reviewers didn't ORDER their copy of Skyrim, it was GIVEN to them. That's why none of them have had a cloth map.

And on the map there is not a lot of details it looks like Oblivion map, Morrowind map was really cool and detailed.

They never announced a cloth map for any edition of the game. They announced a burlap paper map and some people started saying cloth and it just spread like wildfire. The latest info from Pete is that the premium map is a funky kind of material and he described it as being more like canvas but it's not cloth. There is NO cloth map in any edition.

I really don't know why people cannot get their heads around this. The pre-order bonus is a PREMIUM PHYSICAL MAP. Not a cloth map. The map is made from high quality paper which has a cloth like texture woven into it.

The map comes in the game case itself and will NOT be separate.

That its made of cloth is basically a rumor spread from a typo of kind.

The CE and Pre order both have the same map - Burlap paper.

Why cant people learn when its being said in every other post, there is no cloth map!

I believe the answer is quite simple ... the cloth map was chemically treated burlap that, when exposed to air after an "unboxing", alchemically changed the burlap into a textured paper. Surely TES fans can recognize the possibility of this happening!

Okay, I gotta ask. What is Burlap exactly? Is it some different kind of paper? Sorry guys, dutch here so English isn't my main language. I know I should probably look it up on google but most of the times you guys explain it way better anyway.

And also, I'm pretty sure that the CE only comes with the same premium map as any other pre-order.

Burlap is not a paper, it is a fiborous material that bulk quantities of flour and other dried goods used to come in (actually some still do). It used to be very common and people who couldn't afford cloth would make their clothes out of it. I am not sure what a burlapped textured paper would be like, but I imagine it would be be thicker than regular paper. It is kind of difficult to find burlap now-a-days. I think cotten is cheaper now. Wikapedia has a good explination, but they leave out the fact that you can weave it out of hemp as well.

No. From the descriptions i've read this premium map feels a lot like money, but it's not "cloth" or "burlap" it "feels like burlap."
