There is no second map. the CE gets the same map as standard. Its burlap paper. It has a a texture like burlap. It comes inside the game case. Dont expect your store to hand you some extra cloth map that doesnt exist.

It was never promised that it would be a burlap map; it was promised it would have a burlap feel to it. It is simply a thicker-than-paper material

Say it a thousand time, say it a million times, say it a billion times, but you know there will be a new thread requesting information about "The cloth map", why, because the third party sites are taken as gospel by some, I'll even bet that after release you will see several rant threads "Bethesda lied about the map!!!!!!!!!"; they won't bother to check before hand.

I'm no connoisseur of the intricacy of the English language, so can someone please explain to me what 'burlap' actually is?

What would be a common item made out of that material?

So when they say the 'premium' version of the map is made of 'burlap paper' do they mean that stuff, woven fabric?
Or is it paper with burlap texture?
Or perhaps a little of both?

I'm not entirely sure what I'm getting with the pre-order, but I know either way I'll get an excellent game.

Some say a mixture, but I'm more inclined to believe texture embossed paper, it's cheaper to produce.

im pretty sure its the standard edition that gets the cloth map. At least thats what the pre order info said

If you can get your hands on a high-res scan of the map, you could always get some place to print it on canvas...then it'd be a cloth map.

Don't know if anyone bothered to look at the image I linked, but it doesn't give me the impression that it's just normal paper with an embossed pattern...just look at the edges and you will realise this

I'm not saying it's cloth either but more like quite a few people have suggested / commented, that it's more like a synthetic material (material also doesn't necessarily mean cloth ) that may well still be paper based but is much more flexible and softer than normal paper / card.

But like I said, don't really care for myself...just thought I would try to clear up some people's uncertainties but other than that I would just wait and see what you get for peets sake!

Yes, it irritates me how stupid people can be sometimes and then get angry with people like Bethesda who told the truth the whole time, just because they believed what they wanted to believe, which was a dramatic misinterpretation. It has always been stated by Bethesda to be a SYNTHETIC, BURLAP-LIKE MATERIAL.

The map is allegedly made from Burlap, called Hessian in my neck of the woods, and is a 'woven fabric' which roughly translates to 'cloth' in my neck of the woods, like a vacuum cleaner is generally, wrongly referred to as a 'Hoover'.

It's just a map that feels older than the one people without a pre order will get. Not that great considering the pre order bonuses of other games. But hey, I just wanted the game as soon as possible, if I get an extra all the better.

Yes, but from videos it's nothing like that. It looks like poster paper. The descriptions these people got were that they were like *spoiler* poster paper. People are making arguments in this thread that they didn't get the pre-order copy so they wouldn't get the premium map. So, if that's the case will we get a map regardless of whether or not we preordered? I have a feeling they just pulled that info out of their hats unless one of the unboxing videos said explicitly "This is not a pre-ordered copy." I guess all we can do at this point is wait and see if the map is a piece of papery [censored] or legitimately decent quality.
