Well, personally I don't have a clue on why do you think they marketed it dishonestly, because Bethesda has never ever said it was a cloth map, some people made the assumption, and even some retailers did, and it spread like fire, but BGS never mentioned a cloth map to begin with. So the people you've talked to are missinformed, not the dev's faut, it's their own fault for not looking at right info.
You are wrong, those who unbox the game tell their map feels like cloth, but it's paper. They got the premium map, because the premium map is just that.
If you do not have a clue I suggest you scroll up and read my argument

. I made it pretty clear. However, if you are trying to state that you disagree with my position, that's a different matter. In that case we can agree to disagree. I believe you're correct that the fault that misinformation was spread is not entirely the dev's fault. Retailers have posted information that was clearly wrong-- an example of which has been posted in this thread. But, the developers-- if that's what you want to call Bethesda's marketing branch have a responsibility to make sure information is correct and clear on all fronts, in my opinion. You're assuming I didn't do my research, and you're welcome to do so, I suppose.
I believe your second paragraph is responding to the wrong quote.
Edit: Nice avatar by the way. You should read the books, they're much better than HBO's adaptation. Although, the tv series is a respectable contribution.
You know the one thing I would like to see?, is people stop referring to it as a "cloth" map, or even "burlap" when "imitation burlap" is the correct description, it's thick paper with texture embossed burlap feel, burlap is sack material, we've already been told the map "feels" like sack material.
I agree!
