Console exclusivity deals are a good money earner, Spideijon. Bethesda demoed Skyrim almost entirely on Xbox to press and in public, went to Xbox E3 event, and the DLC is exclusive - Microsoft shifted units. Over 70% of Skyrim sales are to Xbox 360 - PC and PS3 make a minority of sales. For Bethesda, they get paid for this.
That isn't to say Bethesda don't love PCs. They clearly do. Creation.
Yeah, and Microsoft always goes first to present at E3, so they can pad out their lineup with 3rd party offerings that they get to showcase first, every single year, while Don Mattrick looks like the slimiest, scuzziest suit in the industry claiming "Better with Kinect?" "With the power of Kinect?" and then buying temporary exclusivity.
It's a dirty, slimey move.
BTW, we don't know how many copies of the PC version of Skyrim sold, due to not knowing digital distribution sales figures. We know it sold about 2 million units retail, and that that is a minority of the total PC version sales, and that it outsold other PC games by a factor of 3:1, and that it is the fastest selling game in Steam's history. it could very well be the version that sold the most.
Favoritism for the 360 is not due to the 360 selling the most copies, but due to Microsoft paying Bethesda money directly for temporary exclusivity. It is a strategy they have used for years, especially since their true exclusive franchises dried up and the PS3 library began to ramp up and get more exclusives because of SCE's strong first party offerings.
Just look at a picture of Don Mattrick and tell me you can't see the guy pulling a stunt like that, and then clean your monitor, because he is so slimey and greasy it'll ooze out of your screen.
