and now the wait begins for PC..

Have we even gotten any sort of date on the PC version of Dawnguard? I really hate that Microsoft pays off publishers to get these perks of getting first releases. Skyrim is certainly not the kind of game I want to play on 360 (no mods = no deal).

Want a theory why not?

If Microsoft insisted in their contract with Bethesda, that Dawnguard must be finished and free of bugs, before their Xbox exclusivity period starts running, they might end up having exclusivity into perpetuity. [/joke]

Dawnguard on PC is not yet announced. Somebody will post saying 26 July, however Bethesda never announced that or implied it.

You get mods, we get Developer-made DLC first... Kinda ekes out, really... It's the PS3 players I feel sorry for.

I'm very pleased someone began this thread before I did because it would have contained far more profanity. Really not pleased with Bethesda's decision about temporary exclusivity. It's different if it was the main game, if it was solely Skyrim then I could understand buying exclusivity rights to shift more units but a DLC pack will not do that- really it's bad judgement on Microsoft's part and money grabbing on Bethesda's. Batman: Arkham City was a month between console and PC release (you can say it was to fix the DX11 and PhysX in it but that's bull because it wasn't even working when it was finally released and needed patched) but got an incredible amount of backlash so they didn't do it with PC. I just don't understand it. It feeds the flames of the PS3/XBox360 really devoted fan fire and will light up these forums causing more hassle than what it's worth- really, how much can DLC be worth to Microsoft?

Console exclusivity deals are a good money earner, Spideijon. Bethesda demoed Skyrim almost entirely on Xbox to press and in public, went to Xbox E3 event, and the DLC is exclusive - Microsoft shifted units. Over 70% of Skyrim sales are to Xbox 360 - PC and PS3 make a minority of sales. For Bethesda, they get paid for this.

That isn't to say Bethesda don't love PCs. They clearly do. Creation.

The amount of fury over waiting a little longer is hilarious to me. What if they were released at the same time, and the release date was the last day of July? Would you still be furious?

Just relax. It's a toy, you can wait for it.

If 70% of the units were shifted on Xbox, it kinda does make sense for Bethesda to accept more money to release any DLC to that platform first, because it's pretty much guaranteed that anybody who owns Skyrim will be buying the DLC. They are a business and want to make money. Blame the Knights Templar for that.

All PC users just need to resist peeking in the Dawnguard forums for awhile...

I want no spoilers!

I've barely scratched the main quest in the vanilla game after 260 hours, so I have alot yet to do before the expansion pack DLC is out.

To be honest it's the direction our society is going that is to blame for the fury. We see something we want and we want it now. We don't want to wait. The same exact fury would be happening if it was the PC who got it first and XBox players had to wait.

One thing Bethesda could do to quell some of the fury is let the other platforms know when they can expect the DLC. So far it feels as if they don't care about the PS3 & PC community. A lot of PC players have been loyal to the company since the franchise started and feel that loyalty means nothing. All we want is an official time table from Bethesda. :) Will it be released in 30 days or will it be longer.

It is as a earlier poster noted we will have mods and our version looks so much better, and less bugs so yes it is worth it
I m only wondering if the vampire overhaul mod will still be compatible

Yeah, and Microsoft always goes first to present at E3, so they can pad out their lineup with 3rd party offerings that they get to showcase first, every single year, while Don Mattrick looks like the slimiest, scuzziest suit in the industry claiming "Better with Kinect?" "With the power of Kinect?" and then buying temporary exclusivity.

It's a dirty, slimey move.

BTW, we don't know how many copies of the PC version of Skyrim sold, due to not knowing digital distribution sales figures. We know it sold about 2 million units retail, and that that is a minority of the total PC version sales, and that it outsold other PC games by a factor of 3:1, and that it is the fastest selling game in Steam's history. it could very well be the version that sold the most.

Favoritism for the 360 is not due to the 360 selling the most copies, but due to Microsoft paying Bethesda money directly for temporary exclusivity. It is a strategy they have used for years, especially since their true exclusive franchises dried up and the PS3 library began to ramp up and get more exclusives because of SCE's strong first party offerings.

Just look at a picture of Don Mattrick and tell me you can't see the guy pulling a stunt like that, and then clean your monitor, because he is so slimey and greasy it'll ooze out of your screen.

PC gets mods and Creative-How-Ever-You-Spell-It Kit.
