And I hope your right. It doesn't change the fact that Beth hasn't given a timeframe for release, and that it's factually inaccurate to say that DG is definitely coming out in a month for PC. We just know it's going to be AT LEAST a month. And there's a huge difference.
Maybe I've just been following GW2 too much, but the fact that we don't know for sure it's coming out in late July for PC tells me it's going to be a while. That seems like something they'd want to say to reassure PC fans. Also: Does anyone know if there's going to be a beta period for PC? I'd imagine there will be, which is part of why I'm not particularly hopeful for July.
Well with GW2 it's not a matter of a bribe or money that's holding them from giving us a release date. The game is not ready yet (you'd know this if you had participated in the beta weekends), it's a brilliant game, by far the best MMO I've played (it shares a lot of the same principles and system designs as The Elder Scrolls Online, both games started being developed around the same time.. about all you can say is Great Minds Think Alike at both Zenimax and Arenanet), but it's still a game that is very much in development, higher level areas aren't available, 2 races aren't available, only 2 structured PVP maps are available (4 are planned), only 2 dungeons are available (and they have 8 they're working on, and people weren't high enough level to run the second one), and several professions/weapons need balancing and the game as a whole still needs polishing and optimization (currently CPU bound, doesn't use the GPU hardly at all). Arenanet doesn't want to promise us a date and then either not be able to make that date and delay, or rush the game out the door and have it be unpolished the way some other MMO's have been of late, like Star Wars: The Old Republic.
If the reason why Dawnguard isn't available for PC and PS3 right now was due to a technical reason, or development reason, IE they just weren't ready, I wouldn't be angry at all. I'm not angry that the PC version of Dark Souls is coming out almost a year later than the console versions, heck, we had to petition and throw our support behind From software to get the port. That's okay, From and a lot of other Japanese developers, don't often develop games for PC, this is something kind of new for them, we'll wait eagerly, but patiently.
It's when sleazeball president of interactive entertainment business over at Microsoft bribes a company to release on his platform first and bribes to have a window of exclusivity. That's a problem. That's a bs reason. I can't wait patiently for that reason.
