Personally I don't like the talwar at all, but it has nothing to do with the texture, I think the weapon model looks terrible. The grip and ricasso are both way too long, combined they are as long as the actual blade! It doesn't look like it'd be very well balanced at all.

Texture-wise though I think the silver, moonstone, glass and ebony versions look pretty good, but the daedric is too red and the steel and orihalcum need a stronger color contrast, they are too mono-colored.

got an idea about smithing balance, but not sure if it is possible to implement - give every craftable item certain experience point value and only allow player to benefit from that value just ONCE. so once you create single iron dagger thats it and you wont get a single exp point if you create another. you have to create steel one to gain another exp points... There is not that much craftable items, so it wouldnt be hard to distribute those points based on material rarity, item manufacturing difficulty etc... so If Player wants to become good smith, he would be forced to create every craftable item in the game from all materials...

what do you think?

It would be possible (once the CK is released), but it seems beyond the scope of the mod.

I just figured out a way to overlay gradients and overcome the seams that would be present due to Bethesda cutting the blades in half.

I never did like those seams.

I think I did a pretty good job working around them so far. It was a pain in the ass though, especially with my gradient textured unique weapons. I've figured out a better way to do it though than I knew before.

Looks good, though iron and steel are identical.

I noticed that too. If that's not a mistake in the screeny and is indeed the right pic, maybe steel should have a blue wrap on the handle or something.

It isn't the same image duplicated, the highlights are slightly brighter for the steel sword. I guess the blade colors are realistic, fresh iron looks almost indistinguishable from steel, though it quickly oxidizes into something very dark. Maybe some copper bits like the other iron swords have would help.

ishmaeltheforsaken, You have created a monster.

I haven't done anything but tinker with cubemaps, shaders and nif shader values since you mentioned it earlier.

Giving the Orcish weapons only legit leather color wraps was a design decision. The Iron & Steel weapons do look similar depending on the lighting. I don't think it's a big deal though.

Just wait until you see what they look like when they have their own shaders. :)

Whoo hoo, always was a fan of environment mapping. Now all we need is some subtle glow mapping on the Daedric stuff :)

Here are my new environment maps, specular maps and shaders in-action. As always, they look better in-game. :)

Ebony's my favorite out of that bunch, I think. I really like that sword in general though.
