Nothing changed from what normally happens. They sent their game out when they meant to, but some stores started selling it early and the cracked version came out online. Bethesda did nothing wrong there.

As for the 360 exclusive, blame Microsoft for being superior than Sony and the PC having no marketing drive aside from 10% of the fanbase being too slow to move on. Microsoft is a business, it paid for an advantage, and now it will play its advantage. Fair game, I guess you just still need to get over it?

Hmmm seems like from what i'm hearing alot of people have come across retailers breaking street date. It's inspired me to drop into all the local game shops today and see if they made the same mistake

Yeah, I think 11-11-11 was a bad date to release it on. Every game that I've gotten has always been released on a Tuesday. To add extra days just so you can get a fancy date to release it on seems kind of stupid to me.

I think it has more to do with the fact that they wanted a world wide release of the game and the street date in Europe is on fridays where it's tuesdays in America, so that is probably the reason, the 11-11-11 numerical date was probably just something that fit.

Fixed that for you.

You have to think of the date in a nice way... 11-11-11 is a once in a lifetime date. (Until 11-11-111)
I'm planning to go to Gamestop at 11:11A.M since thats just about an hour wait from when it opens... I might just forget about that idea anyway...

I'm getting the game exactly when I expected to. European shops not honoring the street date doesn't really affect me at all.

well, why would those retail shops be given loads of copies of the game so many days in advance?
you cant blame the stores for selling when they received the copies.
I they are under contract, thats another thing ofc, and there should be consequences for said stores

I don't know, I'm rather happy that some folks have the opportunity to play it a couple days early. Good for them.

My thoughts exactly. If it's not pirated and it's just down to early delivery and things like that - good for them! I'm not about to throw all the toys out my pram because of it.

Because it would be nearly impossible to get millions of copies of the game shipped around the world and be absolutely sure they'd arrive on time?

Games always ship early so retailers can ensure they got the proper quantity and all the promotional materials they asked for.

This. No idea why console players have this strange belief that "exclusive DLC" means their platform is the best. PC has mods, a rock solid framerate, and gorgeous graphics.
This is coming from a person who put over 200 hours on 360 and more than double that on PC for Oblivion.

Oh well. I'm still getting the game exactly when I thought I would so I can't whine if other people get it early.
Good for them, I'd buy it too if I went out tonight and it was on the store shelf.

Sadly your anger is misplaced. This is not the fault of Bethesda, Steam, Microsoft, nor Sony. This is the fault of the RETAILERS breaking the street date plain and simple. Rant about them if you want, but don't go around accusing all the wrong people.

Good lord, I can't even get the Game Stop where I live to break ANY street date. So lucky those who could. I can wait. I got surgery on thursday so something to look forward to my wife playing.

If i got a pirated copy, even if i bribed the worker with another $60 and got to play it today, my continence would eat at me, and i would rather play the game legally.

Owning a modified 360, a ps3 and gaming pc myself Im waiting for the version on the superior platform, I could have downloaded the torrent and ripped Skyrim for the 360 last Wednesday and be playing it now if wanted. But I know its worth waiting a few extra days for the face melt my PC will offer with this game, plus Bethesda unlike a lot of publishers deserves my money.

I don't care ... my friend plays it on his Xbox, I went there on 5 minutes just to check it out and confirm that he actually has it, and then I said to him: I am going home, lucky you, but I will wait till 11/11/11 and buy it for PC. I still didn't play it or saw him play, and I won't until I buy it.

But leeks always happen. No matter which date the game is out, they have to ship it around the world earlier. And some dirty people will always leek it.

While I usually stay away from the console vs. PC topics it seems that the PC players bashing the consoles have gotten increasingly worse. Here's why I'm a console player.

When I buy a game I take it home, put it in the Xbox and well, IT WORKS! Its the most amazing thing. I know that everyone on here will say the PC is the same way, download, install and viola. All I can give is my person experience. I have never, ever, not one time, bought or downloaded a PC game and it work right off the bat. Ever. I'm not going to try. I gave up on it a long time ago. On top of that I like to sit on my couch and use a controller. Again, PC gamers will say, you can do that with the PC. Well, true but I have to buy an exceptionally long HDMI cord, run it under my house or have it lying on the floor while my 3-year old trips over it every five seconds. AND I've got to upgrade my graphics card every other year. All-in-all, no thanks. I'll take the 360 version, which still looks absolutely fantastic. I also enjoy being on Xbox Live and talking to friends in parties and getting the achievement points. The pros for the 360 far outweigh the PCs. Yes the PC looks better, and may run better, but the inconveniences for me are just too much.

Have fun with the PC, but please stop bashing consoles every chance you get. PC elitists are funny and insecure. They have to continually make themselves feel better and superior to console gaming. Here's the bottom line, whether you like it or not. Console gaming is where the video game industry has been heading the last 10 years and its not going to change. In fact its going to get worse for PC gamers. Sorry. Get used to it.

I've been waiting for this game for a long time now and though it bothers me a little that some are playing and I can't; well it makes me happy to know that not only will I have it at 12:01am Friday morning but I have the entire day off from work as well to play it.

I can wait...I've waited years now so a couple of days is nothing!
