Bethesda launch fail

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 5:15 am

You do realize that any date would have the same result, right? The games have to be sent to the store SOMETIME in order to be there for you to GET THEM on time.

I'm sick and tired of these threads. You act like this is all their fault, like somehow, they should have secret agents at every store location and every warehouse to prevent people from breaking street date.

Not Bethesda's fault. Why "blame" them for their date when they actually PULLED IT OFF? We could have wound up with a delayed release, which has happened before (Oblivion) but no, they got it all set and ready on the day they announced almost a year ago they would. I'm happy for those who's wait has come to an end, and look forward to Friday when my wait will end. :celebration:

If Bethesda hadn't got all numerological about release, you would still be waiting another month.

Still waiting patiently. I definitely hope others are enjoying the game time. Slightly worried about the hard drive install texture issue but I'm sure it'll get cleared up.

It will be a while until the modders fix the game anyways.

I'm always stunned when I hear that people are getting it for console.

I'm not poking fun at consoles. I get the appeal of playing it relaxed on your couch with a big screen. But, mods just change the game from something that might have been great to actually great (or at least good).

The date is just a marketing gimmick; they need to release it now for holiday sales.

Oh man, poke a bear with a stick.

Many reasons why people get it console. So many reasons that i cba to list why console is good, and why PC is better. Enjoy your pc rig, others enjoy your consoles. End of

why, with multiple countries having already broken street date, would bethesda still want to cling to a streetdate that is now pointless?
the stores have the shipments. the consumers have money. does beth not like money or something?
if anything this will only push more people to play illegally.
with every passing hour, TES fans are growing more impatient.

send the email, beth. do the right thing.

Not a big deal, just be happy for the lucky few. The rest of us will have our fun soon enough.

Which would have been really ugly, since Saint's Row the Third also comes out then. Love me some Skyrim, but the opportunity to beat pedestrians to death with purple 4 foot long dlldos is too much to resist....

Yeah, I'll be getting my copy tomorrow. I was pretty stumped when I heard Skyrim was tied to Steam, but oh well, same thing happened with Dead Island. It does svck but, it's only two days so it's not that long. Besides, it'll be worth all the waiting. ^^

it's pretty svckish how many people have Skyrim already.

Its good for Bethesda because as these places break the street date, they have to pay Bethesda in legal penalties or they'll never be able to handle their products again.

More money for Bethesda, means better future games for us and perhaps, better DLC.

Its only a few days..... i mean, we've waited this long.

Has absolutely nothing to do with Bethesda. Had the release date been 11/7/11, or any other date, it would still have been shipped out to reviewers early, those reviewers would have leaked it, and stores would still have broken street dates. Don't blame Bethesda, blame the wankers who are leaking/pirating/breaking street dates.

True, but as this is a Tuesday... and games usually come out on Tuesday... had Bethesda not sought some numerological kismet, then release Tuesday would be today and I'd be playing regardless of what other platforms are doing. My focus was the recognition of what day of the week this is.

But having experienced the spoiler leaks, the DLC exclusivity irks me more now... those vids are going to be street legal which means Zenimax won't lift a finger to take them down. That's going to be 30 days full bore of what got released this week.

It always amazes me when people get upset that others have something that they do not.

You weren't expecting it until 11.11.11.... so what exactly is the problem? If you don't get it until the 13th, then you have a very legitimate complaint.

I can't escape the fact that if Bethesda hadn't got all numerological with the release date, we'd all be playing Skyrim now instead of just a lucky few... thanks a lot Bethesda.

How exactly did you come to that conclusion? The game would have always been sent to retailers and reviewers before the release, the game would have been pirated and some stores would have sold it early no matter what the release date was.

Doesn't someone, somewhere, always get something early?

Bright side: More early users means more opportunities to find bugs, and hopefully means a cleaner game when the rest of us start playing it with its day-one patch.

I've mostly avoided spoilers, so im fine with that.. I do agree that the 360 exclusivity thing is just annoying though

I think most people would rather have the game released on a Friday than a Tuesday. Plus it gives Bethesda extra time to bug fix, which is never a bad thing.
