Bethesda launch fail

How exactly did you come to that conclusion?

Hello... Tuesday, the day of the week most games get released. Regardless of other platforms and early copies, Tuesday is Tuesday.

I can't complain. Since i'm in the UK and I am used to big titles coming out on fridays. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think Todd Howard was the one who really pushed for 11/11/11 date.

Yeah, well CoD came out today, there would have been no midnight releases for people to go to.

Bethesda could always push it back to next Tuesday, would that cheer you up?

It's not entirely Bethesda's fault, sure it's their game that has been leaked, but do you not see the amount of effort their doing to keep a lid on most features? Videos taken down, websites down, leakage of a game is sadly, but truly, inevitable. It happens, it pisses people off, but give them some credit for trying.

They don't here in the UK. Or Europe...

They do  MW3 was released today on tuesday. Other games have, i think Gears 3 was too. Game releases in UK are Tuesdays and Fridays.

This thread is flooded with cry babies whining that some got lucky when they have to wait a whole 2 days and 10 hours.
Why would Bethesta break their street date? To make the impatient people happy? Lol No.
Besides if the release date wasn't 11-11-11 who knows what it would be it would be even worse if it was 11-12-11.
You should be happy for those gamers who got it early I know I am.

Not in Europe ;) Now stop being jealous, sheesh. It's only 3 more days, you've waited for over a year.

It seems all the early releases are coming out of Europe. Nobody here in the States is selling it early, at least not this early.

I have to admit, i envy those people who have Skyrim now a lot... But, they deserve it. They have waited as long as us (Almost... We wait 3 days more), months and years. I would have taken the chance to get the game early without hesitation.

Sadly your anger is misplaced. This is not the fault of Bethesda, Steam, Microsoft, nor Sony. This is the fault of the RETAILERS breaking the street date plain and simple. Rant about them if you want, but don't go around accusing all the wrong people.

And on top of that would it be ok to think like that if PC users had got it their way instead. Correct me if im wrong but wasnt it PC users who got first dibs on Vegas ?

This is one of the svckIEST threads ever!

I dont have enough money to spill on such a game at release, and I dont complain about those who can. I am glad there are ppl who can enjoy what I cannot, while I can follow-up on the net.

There may be a reason they care for 'PCers' less than for 'consolers'. Beth is foremost a company interested in $. If delivering to the Console before is more profitable somehow, then we must svck on it.

I love these forums. One person in their frustration cries out in agony as they wait and obsess over the game, and most of the responses are, "There, there, it's going to be OK, nobody is trying to single you out to keep Skyrim from you." I like the maturity.

True, but as this is a Tuesday... and games usually come out on Tuesday... had Bethesda not sought some numerological kismet, then release Tuesday would be today and I'd be playing regardless of what other platforms are doing. My focus was the recognition of what day of the week this is.

But having experienced the spoiler leaks, the DLC exclusivity irks me more now... those vids are going to be street legal which means Zenimax won't lift a finger to take them down. That's going to be 30 days full bore of what got released this week.

Your issue with 11/11 does not really follow. We all know that gamesas was still trying to scrub bugs out of the game all the way until the last possible moment, so it's not like they get the game ready for a Tuesday release and then stand around untill 11/11. When the production team and marketing team met to determine the release date, how do you know they weren't shooting for the 14th or 26th, but then marketing convinced them to move it up to cooincide with 11/11? How do you know 11/11 isn't going to get you your game early?

I can't escape the fact that if Bethesda hadn't got all numerological with the release date, we'd all be playing Skyrim now instead of just a lucky few... thanks a lot Bethesda.

Also, seeing videos everywhere of gameplay makes me hate the 360's DLC exclusivity even more. If the current situation is bad, the situation of DLC videos that won't get taken down because it is street legal for 360 means a month of videos for the rest of us to endure/dodge for each and every DLC released.

...thanks a lot Bethesda. :sadvaultboy:

Relax people; it’s just a matter of days that will dwindle down to hours then minutes and then you will be at home experiencing the ultimate game of all time. When you have arrived at this moment in time, none of anything else will matter. So, take a deep breathe and relax, we shall be in Skyrim before you know it.

I've mostly avoided spoilers, so im fine with that..

Me, too.

Really, if you stay out of the spoiler forum, pause before clicking on links, and don't search on Youtube, it's not all that hard to avoid seeing things you'd rather discover for yourself in-game. I really don't understand the drive to see as much as possible as soon as possible. I want everything to be fresh and exciting when I encounter it with my character.

The failure isn't Bethesda's, but the retailers. As for changing the release date now, none of us has any notion what the effect of doing that would be on businesses of varying sizes in varying locations. Do you really think Bethesda wants to cause folks to cancel existing mail orders in favor of purchasing from local shops? Do you really think folks wouldn't cancel existing orders in favor of getting the game from a source that could deliver it sooner? Bethesda really has no choice but to stick with plan A.

In these hard economic times, I'm not surprised... Retailers would do anything for a quick profit. Heck, my mother owns a flower shop business, we are supposed to be closed on Sundays but that doesn't stop her from doing funeral pieces to be delivered on the day we are closed. It is all about the opportunities one can take.

If a retail store breaks the release date, is it the same as a reviewer breaking the "no reviews" embargo until after the 11th?

I am going to need to replace my entire computer system, which in order to not only play Skyrim, but run Autodesk REVIT, will cost a small fortune in which I currently don't have...Then when I'm finally able to do that, wait even longer until I can afford to purchase the game and strategy guide...Now I could be pissy about the whole situation, and about others who have been able to purchase the game sooner than usual, but why? What good does it do? I'm happy for those folks, and you know if you had the opportunity, you'd jump at it as well...Fair play be damned...

You could wait until the price comes down a bit and the modders do some modding and the GOTY edition comes out.

It does not matter what date they set for release, some people will get it earlier than they are supposed to. If the release date was today, people would have gotten the game last week. This happened with Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas. The only way they could stop this is to have no press release copies, and only ship the game to retailers on the release date. And, then, guess what? Some people would still get the game earlier than others.
