After I finished "Diplomatic Immunity", I didn't get the next quest "A cornered Rat".
I even tried to do it again, but still didn't get it.
(After searching in Google, some guys said it happens when you joined the thieves guild before getting to this quest)

Engine/Physics:

-I've had several instances of "falling" while swimming, like the game thought for a moment I was in midair instead of in the water. Only noticed it in the cave at the end of the Lighthouse quest (specifically in the water around the bandits' boat), it may be something to do with the way that cave's been assembled.

The creatures/bandits that lack a ranged attack really need one. Yesterday I took out an entire cave of bandits because they lacked bows and were too dumb to jump on the cage I was perching on.

Even if they ran away to safety it would be better than soaking up arrows.

--

If you use the direction controls just right you can swim through the water while viewing everything as if you were walking on land. You have to be near the surface to do this. The same problem existed in both Fallout games and in Oblivion.

--

I tried to rename a weapon at an enchantment table and ended up in a loop where I could not exit the table or make a weapon. I had to exit the game.

--

Sometimes distant mountain textures will flicker as if they are fighting with some texture right behind it for which one gets to be displayed.

--

Sheathed daggers (and other weapons) clip through many outfits on NPCs.

--

Cave bears are harder to kill than dragons. I play on expert level. Bears have a relentless ground assault where dragons just take a few swipes and then waste time flying/soaking up arrow attacks.

--

The "special move" finish for dragons looks weird when you are holding a mace. It seems like the character is stabbing the dragon's face instead of clubbing it and the character often jumps on the dragon's head slightly off-center.

--

I have had a few (very few) inexplicable crash to desktop moments. They were in different areas and left no error messages.

Great OP. Really appreciated. A lot of great hard work must have gone into this. Hopefully Bethesda is finding it useful.

I'm not sure how to explain my quest bug.

After Kodlak's funeral at the skyforge I entered the underforge to get the next Companion's quest "Glory of the Dead." The gray-mane blacksmith asked me to meet him there. Except he never showed up.

Instead I talked to Aela and received the radiant quest "Stealing the plans."

I left the underforge to go do the quest. Just as I left through the door, on a hunch, I decided to go back into the underforge straight away. Gray-mane was there waiting to give me the quest "Glory of the Dead." I ended up completing Glory of the Dead instead of Stealing the Plans.

Well, now Stealing the Plans will not leave my quest journal. The description told me what cave to go to, so I went there and cleared it out and killed the Silver Hand lieutenant. However, the quest still does not show up as completed. I suspect it is because I did it out of sequence. Oh well.

Great list, it covers all the quest related bugs I have experienced.

Now we just have to hope Bethesda does something with this list, they are not exactly renowned for dedication to fixing things. Oblivion and Fallout 3 still have quite a number of quest related bugs to this day.

I've also experienced this several times. One of the places was in the cave Reachwater Rock if I remember right.

Also, I've seen rivers flowing sideways and they also push the player/items/whatever the same way.

Pretty sure this has already been posted but it's kind of a gamebreaker - supposedly having entered/broken into the Honningbrew Meadery before starting the Thieves Guild questline makes it so you cannot advance beyond Loud and Clear, even with the console commands. I have logged 60 hours and am stuck, really want to be able to do the Thieves Guild! Does anyone know of any sort of workaround before they patch it?

Yep I noticed this too in exactly the same place.

Here's one I've just remembered.
I've encountered it in dozens of places.

Objective flags can get confused when using certain exit doors.

For instance exit doors that take you to differently named sections of the 'Skyrim' world map.
If you get outside through one of these doors, any objective navigation directions to elsewhere on the 'Skyrim' map will first direct you back into the building you just came out of (and then direct you to the proper 'Skyrim' labelled exit).
This isn't restricted to just the 'Skyrim' map either; I've come across it in several castles, caves, and dwemer ruins.

Basically where the same contiguous area can be accessed from two differently labelled doors.

This can be fixed by fast travelling, or entering any other door.

sounaipr did some excellent testing that clearly shows GPU usage dropping off and CPU usage rising during the inexplicable FPS drops in and around cities/towns:

Here's some more bugs I've found:

1. Sometimes my character enters warp speed. I can ride my horse, mine etc very fast. When I reload my speed returns to normal.

2. Sometimes items I leave on the ground will disappear when I fast travel away. I dropped some things on the ground as I was carrying too much. I went to town to sell what I had and returned to pick up the remainder, only to find it was all gone.
I though this might be a case of don't leave things lying around or someone will take it. But later I returned to this some place and my stuff was there right were I left it?

3. Some corpses (including dragons) just show up and flop on the ground when I leave a dungeon or fast travel to a location. Usually the same corpses that disappeared sometime earlier after fast travel.

4. The Forsworn at Druadach Redoubt attack my horse on sight and leave me an my hireling alone. What have they got against horses?

5. Don't know it this is a bug or what, but I have the perk to improve magic items and I tried doing just that, but it says I don't have the skill?! Do I have to have the right perk and smithing level? If so it would be nice if it told me that.
6. Steam. Achievements don't seem to work. I have a house and I've completed Bleak Falls Burrow but no achievements.

And just one more thing. Why use Steam? This is a single player game. What's the point of having to install Steam, create an account just to install and play a single player game?! What happens to people who don't have the net (although I can't imagine why).
Oh! I bought this game and now because I don't have net access I can't play it?! But it's a single player game?! Please Explain!

If the point of Steam is to show achievements - well they don't work anyway... or to manage updates - this could be done very easily without Steam. And I don't have any control as to where it installs games. So why Steam.

Overall though Skyrim is great.

* Generally doing anything (killing NPC's, clearing dungeons, finding items) that are required for a quest, BEFORE you ever see/receive that quest, breaks the quest. Quests all need to re-check for triggers having already been achieved the moment you accept them. This is a shame, as it goes against the very spirit of TES games, which is to explore freely - instead, exploring freely is currently dangerous as it can break many things.

Hello. Very nice work with this post, i know organising stuff like this is tedious. Quoted my favourite problem of them all.

I'd also like to add that i've seen reports of Larceny Targets not starting the linked quest - to turn the stuff in to Delvin. I'm having this problem with the Left Eye of the Falmer, during the "Blindsighted" quest. I think it wasn't listed in either of the "items" or "quests" section of your post. Sorry if i missed it.

Thanks again for taking the time to compile this stuff ;)

"* You can place a bot/basket/tub etc. over everybody's head (by dragging it over them), they won't object to this at all - but will no longer be able to see, so you can murder their family or rob them blind of all their possessions without them making a single complaint, they'll just stand their happily with a basket over their head. Anyone else notice 3rd person CROUCHED archery is WAY off? If I shoot at the middle of a tree in both standing 3rd person and 1st person the arrow hits the same spot. If you crouch in 1st and fire at that same tree in the same spot it hits it just right. But if you are crouched in 3rd person and fire at the same spot on the tree, you will completely miss the tree. Crouched archery is completely broken!

I completed a puzzle that opened a door, backtracked out to go to a temple and cure a disease and when I returned the puzzle remains complete preventing me from interacting with the puzzle elements any more but the door became closed/locked and thus the path forward is closed. Luckily you can enter the dungeon from the other side via some tricky mountain climbing.

Didn't see this in the main post. Sometimes the reanimate thrall active effect becomes permanent, even though your dead thrall is either dead or missing. Casting new summons doesn't remove the effect. This causes everyone in town to constantly shun you for using spells, even though there's nothing you can do about it.

Updated to this point, I think we're on about ~220 listed in this thread at the moment, or thereabouts :)

Shame they haven't released a changelog for 1.2 yet - they obviously HAVE a changelog, since the patch has already been submitted to Microsoft/Sony, so it must be a "finalised" patch (otherwise any changes would mean the patch needed to go through the recertification process again for consoles). Be nice to see how many of the bugs found so far are/are not due to be fixed in two weeks time!
