Cold Steel

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 11:43 pm

After the events of Project Purity, where the Lone Wanderer activated the Purifier after destroying Raven Rock, and then the Brotherhood started their war against the Enclave, destroying the Enclave Mobile Base, the Lone Wanderer was sent on a mission with a the Lyons Pride and they never returned. Elder Lyons retired and left to look for his daughter after it happened, and placed Scribe Rothchild in his place. The former elder is presumed KIA. As the best, and most respected Brotherhood members were listed MIA, the Citadel fell into a silent despair worse than ever before. Just as things started to look up, they were plunged back into darkness again. Then, to rub insult to injury, the Brotherhoods worst enemy to this day returned.

The Enclave.

The Brotherhood was plunged back into war again. A war a thousand times worse than it had been before. The Enclave had gathered their remaining troops from all over the US and A to take on the Brotherhood and take the Capital. They made a drastic change in tactics and decided to systematically work there way through the Wastes as one army, rather than a divided one. They brought with them technology the likes of which had never been seen in the Capital Wastelands before, and started a systematic annihilation of all Wastelanders, especially the Brotherhood.

And then, as they moved in on the last bastion of hope, the Citadel, help came in the most unexpected of forms. The Western Brotherhood. If they could not beat the Enclave here they would no doubt come to the West to purge the area too, and they could not allow that to happen, so they stepped in, and sent troops plus ordered the Outcasts back to the Citadel. Now as the Brotherhood once became united again, it was stronger than ever, but so was the Enclave.

It was decided to make a new squad to rival the ferocity of the Lyons Pride. They would take on the Enclave in the most pressing tactical situations and be a Recon team for the main body of the Brotherhood army.

They call it, 'Cold Steel'

And you, soldier, have just been drafted for it.

Rules:

-My say is final, and I will lead the story mainly
-Proper grammar and punctuation is required, but I don't mind semi-proper, just no "tehn i shot dem in da face" stuff.
-Don't control other peoples characters, unless your me (which your hopefully not, cause that would be weird) or have their permission.
-No uber characters. I don't think I need to ellaborate.
-Have fun, or I will bite of your head, and spit in the hole. Or something similar, depends on if I'm hungry.

Character Creation

Name:
Rank:
Age:
Race:
Gender:
Brief history:
Skills:
Equipment:
Weapons:

Just fill out the above and post it in the thread. Weapons can be in Fallout or Real life weapons, but not too exotic or uber, and not too many. And not too many skills either, cause remember, no uber characters. Ranks are Initiate, Knight, Paladin, Scribe, Sentinel. You must be either a scribe, initiate or a Knight, but the first two to post their characters can be Paladins. There will also be field promotions in the RP, so don't worry that your rank is final, because it probably isn't. Remember, the Brotherhood pooled all of their resources together for this squad so its ok to have some fancy equipment, but not too much.

Example (and my character)

Name: Edward Shield
Rank: Sentinel
Age: 29
Race: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Brief history: Is one of the youngest majors in the Brotherhood because he was excelled through the ranks speedily because of the need for good leaders. Has been in the Brotherhood since birth, and has had training in nearly every subject available. He is extremely intelligent and ferocious, and isn't modest about it. He knows he is good, and he likes to show it off. He has been described as "the best chance we have" and "a synonym for cocky" by his fellow soldiers. Just returned from a recon mission on a large Enclave base where he took out the whole base by sneaking a grenade into the power generators engineer's pocket.
Skills: Energy Weapons, Sneak, Science
Apparel: Custom Power Armor (built with night vision targeter and a hidden rifle compartment in the back), no helmet
Weapons: Tri-Beam Laser Rifle, Laser Rifle, Laser Pistol

RP'ing starts immediately. Just drop in some way once you have enlisted.

Edward

Damn, this new suit he had requested was awesome. It was pitch black in the Mall, but it didn't matter to him. He was wearing the night vision targeter in front of his right eye, and was loving it.

"Mutie, 5 O'clock!" yelled on his squad mates. He spun to the right and fired once into the mutant who was trying to be sneaky in the night, not understanding the fact that Edward could see him in the darkness.

After they fought there way back to the outpost at the Washington Monument, Edward was approached by another man.

"Paladin Shield?" the man queried.

"Thats me. And who might you be?" replied Edward with a confused expression. Was he being re-assigned? Had he done something wrong?

"I'm Scribe Teal. I'm here on behalf of Elder Rothchild, you have been promoted to Sentinel. Congratulations sir, not many have achieved such an honor, you must be doing something right." the Scribe muttered with distaste, he obviously wasn't happy about 'Sentinel" Shields promotion, "Your also being re-assigned. The Elder told me to escort you back to the Citadel, immediately. If you do not comply I will be forced to-"

"Thats fine," interupted Edward, "I'm looking forward to talking with the Elder, its been too long. Shall you lead?"

"Maybe we should wait till night, its too dark to be wandering around DC like this."

"Forgive me, I'm still using night vision. Tomorrow should be fine, some sleep would be great anyway, I guess." said Edward, though he was somewhat dismayed, seeing as he had wanted to find out about his re-assignment sooner rather than later.

Tomorrow, he though, will be exciting, I'm sure of it.

Name: Peter Harrows
Rank: Paladin
Age: 45
Race: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Brief history: Peter is a veteran of quite a few battles, but got horrifically injured in a terrible battle. He's been in intensive care for a long time and has only recently gotten out. He's ready for action and realises that the only way to get out alive is fight for it. He's ready to give everything he has to take on the Enclave and take them down, for good. His family was slaughtered trying to protect him when he was still very young, he's never forgotten the day. A Brotherhood patrol chanced past right as Peter was killing the remaining things that had killed his family. They saw talent in the child and took him back to the Citadel, he's been training since then. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the ranks of the Brotherhood and did what he could.
Skills: Energy Weapons, Repair, Medicine
Equipment: Modded Brotherhood Power Armor, painted Black and Orange, courtesy of old friends from the Outcasts. Increase in mobility and defense, no helmet.
Weapons: Laser Rifle, Plasma Rifle

(Sorry if I can't join but I kind of have this one chance to write. Need to get off, stupid Parents, making me go to bed waaaay to early, I hate being a Teen.)

IC:

I yawned, looking around the Barracks, the other men around me were mostly knights, they all looked like hardened Wastelanders to me. I thought to myself, wondering what we were going to do about the whole situation that we were in. I looked at my equipment, thinking about my life. All I'd been doing was fighting, whether it was fighting for survival or fighting for anothers survival, it was always fighting. I grimaced, remembering my family, how they'd given their lives, for me.

I took off my armor and weapons, putting them in my locker. I put on some clothes that I'd always kept with me, my Father's old set. "I haven't forgotten you Dad," I muttered to myself. I then fell down on the bed, falling into the deep realms of sleep. I hoped that in some way, I could find a way to make him proud, whether it was by doing something important against the Enclave. Or even dying as a soldier on a great battlefield.

Edward

After the Scribe and Edward had reached the Citadel the next day, the Scribe quickly muttered something to Sentinel Shields about finding Elder Rothchild, and then disappeared towards the Lab.

It was good to be back in the Citadel, even if it was probably for a short time only. Edward stopped reminiscing of his childhood here and left for the A Ring where the Elder resided.

After making his way to the council room he found Rothchild awaiting him.

"Elder Rothchild," said Sentinel Shield as he bowed to the Elder, "it has been to long since last time we spoke."

"Edward, or should I say Sentinel? You look a lot older than the last time I saw you. I've heard a lot about you accomplishments. Your a big credit to us, I must say. Though, as much as I would love to talk, we have urgent business to attend to. The other Elders back West and I have been strategizing, and we agree we need a team to replace the Pride. We want you to lead it"

Edward was stunned for a second before he could force himself to respond.

"Ye..Yes!" Yes? Yes!? That was all he could say!? He mentally beat himself up before Elder Rothchild continued to give him the details.

"We are pooling all of our resources together on this. Any men, tech or information you require is at your disposal. You need to leave soon and we have a list of targets for you that need to be taken out ASAP. We have a Vertibird waiting in the Bailey for you, and it is equipped with a radio unit which you will receive our orders from. You need to recruit some men from here before you leave, though you may recruit more while in the field. I also have a suggestion for you, a Paladin Harrows. Here is his file, I suggest you recruit him. I need to leave now, I'm expecting a radio from the other Elders now, any others questions will have to be asked later. Steel be with you Edward. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors." the Elder spoke quickly as Edwards mind reeled from all the info he was receiving. He was truly honored.

"Sir? One last question."

"Yes?" responded the Elder curiously.

"What is it called?"

"That, my friend, is up to you. Any ideas?"

"Cold Steel. For the steel I am made from will be cold and dead before I let the Enclave march upon the Citadel. You have my word I will stop them, I vow to kill every last one... I mean, its about time I get something near challenging" he grinned.

"Cold Steel... I like it. Now, I must leave. Come see me before you leave."

And with that Sentinel Shield left and went out to find Paladin Harrows.

Name: Patrick O'Conner
Rank: Initiate
Age: 19
Race: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Brief history: Growing up in a small settlement with his family his older brother was his idol. His brother a respected man, a paladin, who fought and died bravely in the historic battle of Adams Air Force base. Patrick was enraged when he found out that his older brother was killed by these people and wanted revenge. He went to the citadel and demanded to join. Although the Brotherhood was a bit weary of him at first they respected his brother and Patrick became an initiate.
Skills: Energy Weapons, Repair and explosives.
Equipment: His brothers modified Power Armor, lightly armored but increased mobility, Recon Helmet.
Weapons: Laser Rifle, grenades

IC:

Another day of being yelled at Patrick was a bit sick of it. He then remembered why he had joined and decided to forget about it. "One day, one day I will become a paladin.". As he lay down he wondered how his family was and if they were ok. He rolled over and looked at the other initiates some appeared ready others looked a bit gun ho some even looked worried. He wondered what they thought of him. "Probably just a very angry person".

As he drifted off to sleep he wondered what the next day would bring him.

Edward

As he made his way to the B Ring barracks he stopped in the first room he saw. Initiates, and lots of them, were sleeping in this room. He walked up to the closest one and nudged him with his foot to wake him up.

The young mans face startled Edward as he looked into his face. He faintly resembled himself when he was that age, and he felt like he had to protect this person. As the Initiate came to he shook his head to clear his thoughts.

"Initiate, my name is Sentinel Shield. What is your name?"

"Sir, Initiate Patrick O'Conner, sir!" yelled back the Initiate.

"Keep it down eh? Don't want to wake up your brothers. Do you know a Paladin Harrows?" asked Edward.

"Yes, sir." whispered back the Initiate.

"Take me to him." replied Edward.

As he was led to another room he considered bringing the Initiate with him on the trip. He needed men and he had to leave soon. He would check his file and see how good he was before he asked though. He didn't need a scrub getting the rest of the team killed.

As he entered the room he immediately spotted who the file said was Paladin Harrows.

He walked up to the man and pushed his face up near the Paladins.

"Boo" he said as the Paladin yelled and woke up, reaching for his gun.

"Stop. Thats an order. Sentinel Shield" he said holding out his hand to the bewildered man, "That was a good reaction time. You'll do. Get up, get kitted up then head out the Bailey and board the Vertibird marked as the "Cold Steel" bird. You have just been re-assigned." he grinned as he walked out of the room.

"Initiate O'Conner, follow me."

"Yes sir!" he responded.

Time to find out what this Initiate was made of.

(OOC: I'm doing a lot of controlling of your characters at the moment and I'm sorry for it, its just easier for this recruitment part, but once that is finsished I promise I will do less. And Aussie_Made. Do you want to be promoted to a Paladin? Because your entitled to it as the second person to join. Say yes or no and if yes we'll find a reason to promote you.)

(OOC I don't mind being the initiate but his dream is to become a paladin so why not make his dreams come true. It would be greatly appreciated mate. Playing some of my role is fine by me this is your story lol.)

IC:
"Sentential Shield I had heard the stories he sounded like quite the soldier." Patrick thought. He had a lot of respect for Edward as he in a way reminded of his brother. The other paladin seemed battle hardened and very to the point he reminded Patrick of his Sargent who trained him.

Patrick followed Edward unsure of many things. Questions raced through his mind "Where are we going? What is cold steel? And why pick me I'm just an initiate?" The brotherhood always full of surprises and secrets.

Patrick was worried and stuck close to Edward as they walked. He then looked to the sky and whispered. "Watch over me".

(OOC: Ok, Patrick O'Conner will be the second Paladin. I just wasn't sure if you wanted to be one or not, because you made your character a Initiate to start off with. You'll be promoted to a Knight soon, and a Paladin later.)

Edward

As he watched the various confused faces go across the Initiates face he chuckled. He was good, very good. He led the Initiate out into the bailey and walked over to his old trainer, Knight Drennan.

"Knight Drennan, good to see you again. I have a quick question for you, think you know much about this boy?" he said as he nodded his head towards Patrick.

"Hey, Eddie my boy! Its good to see you again. Yeah, I know a bit about the Initiate, what do you want to know?" replied the Knight.

"Is he good in a fight?"

"Yeah, pretty damn good and energy weapon, and great with explosives too."

"Is he trustworthy?"

"I taught him, and he has a loyalty to the Brotherhood because apparently his brother used to roll with us."

"Is he smart?"

"Very. He can repair things pretty damn well, and he is smarter than most of our initiates."

"Does he listen to orders?"

"In most of our sims he takes orders well, so thats a yes."

"Do you think you could beat him in a fight?"

"With my eyes closed." replied the Knight smugly.

"Then go for it. Both of you, strip to Recon armor only, hand to hand combat. Now."

They both looked at him strangely, but decided not to question an order, and stripped out of their Power Armor and put down their power armor.

Drennan lunged first, throwing a left hook at Patrick which dodged and followed up with a chop to the stomach while Drennan was off balance.

Then Patrick lunged and Drennan ducked and spun around Patrick, getting behind him and aiming a punch at the back of his head.

Patrick sensed it was coming and rolled forward, before jumping back up and facing Drennan again.

The proceeded to circle around each other, looking for an opening to get an upper hand on the other.

Drennan round house kicked at Patrick which he blocked but that left him open and Drennan used the weakness, jumping in for a quick blow to the stomach which winded the Initiate and then Drennan followed up with a strong hook to the nose.

Edward watched as he saw the blow connect with Patricks nose and heard the sickening crack as it broke. He even felt pain as if he was watching family be hurt, but he shook himself out of it. Maybe Patrick wasn't good enough to be on Cold Steel if he couldn't beat a trainer.

Just as he was about to dismiss Patrick the Initiate lunged at Drennan unleashing a fury of blows on his head, stomach and chest. He kicked Drennans legs out from under him and was about to finish the fight when the Knight stopped him.

"Wait! I surrender!" yelled the trainer pathetically.

Edward chucked the kid some Med-X and a bandage for his nose.

"Good work kid, I could have finished him before it started, but not everyone is as could as me. Get on the Bird. Welcome to Cold Steel Knight O'Conner" he said as he tried to contain a grin. He had two people now, Cold Steel was beginning to take shape.

I've been looking for a good RP to join and this looks like a VERY good one waiting to happen!

Name: Justin
Rank: Knight
Age: 40
Race: Caucasian
Gender: Male
Brief history: Justin had come with the Brotherhood from California. He had only been an initiate then. When they got to the Capital Wasteland, he got a field promotion to Knight after saving Elder Lyons from certain death at the hands of a Super Mutant. That incident also allowed him a close friendship with the ex-Elder. That friendships was not strong enough, however, to stop him from defecting with the Outcasts. As admirable as he found Elder Lyons to be, he thought that he was too short sighted. What good was saving the people if they'd have to live like cavemen for the rest of their lives? So he had left with the others to become an Outcast. He had happily come back when the Western Brotherhood had returned and called for them to come together. Now he fights against the Enclave alongside his brothers. Unknown to most, Justin had been a sniper in a Special Ops squad that had rivaled the Pride in skill. The entire squad had perished in an ill fated First Strike against Adams Airforce Base that was never brought to the public eye.
Skills: Sneak, Energy Weapons, Repair
Equipment: A suit of improved Power Armor that did not hinder his agility (like regular Power Armor). Its weight was also drastically reduced to about thirty pounds, at the expense of some protection. It is painted Brown to blend in with the wasteland.
Weapons: A Prototype Laser Sniper with a Night vision, Range Adjustable Scope. Also has a Laser Pistol.

"A knight and all I had to do was beat up my trainer? Talk about fun." Patrick thought quietly to himself as he patched up his nose.

"Could Cold Steel possibly be the new Lyons Pride?" He decided to ponder on it and the many other questions going through his mind.

Patrick left the Sentinel to go get into the vertibird and await further orders.

Name: Nicholas Young
Rank: Scribe
Age: 26
Race: Asian
Gender: Male
Brief history: Nicholas Young was brought to the Capital Wasteland when the Western Brotherhood arrived to stop the Enclave. He is an aspiring scribe, much younger than most of his peers. With that said, he does not have the same attitude as the other scribes. He is often enthusiastic for field research, and often looks for excuses to avoid computer and book work. Most of the time he prefers to tinker with different weaponry and armor recovered from the field, putting forth great effort to improving their models. After that, he insists on testing them out for himself. The other scribes do not exactly approve of his methods.
As a result they have currently assigned him as assistant quartermaster in the Citadel armory; perhaps to save themselves a headache.
Skills: Big Guns, Energy Weapons, Repair
Equipment: Scribe Robe over Recon Armor, Tinted Work Goggles
Weapons: Missile Launcher, Laser Pistol

IC:
Young

"?I can't believe out of the entire tech the Brotherhood has salvaged here, they make me work on this piece of crap." Quartermaster Young said out loud as he threw his wrench onto the table hopelessly next to the Miss Launcher.

"I don't see why we just scrap this thing for spare parts. Browne's modifications on it have only made the thing worse." He continued, lifting his goggles to his forehead. "Air powered? They want me to make it run with that 20th century bull? I give up on this thing."

Knight Captain Durga sighed and rolled her eyes. "And I can't believe out of the entire company the Brotherhood has sent here, they make me work with a scribe?"

Young picked up the wrench and pointed it at the Knight Captain. "You know you wouldn't be able to keep the Brotherhood supplied with armor and weapons by yourself." Durga reluctantly nodded her head, she knew it was true. Satisfied, the scribe turned the wrench's focus to a pile of spare parts. With many new soldiers arriving at the Citadel, maintaining enough armor and weapons for them was no easy feat. Much of the equipment recovered was tattered, broken, and in ruin when it first was handed over to the armory. Now rows of rifles, pistols, and heavy weapons lined the selves; more than enough ordinance to supply the Brotherhood. She couldn't have possibly done it all without Young.

"Another AER9 Laser Rifle set to use against the Enclave." The scribe announced as he adjusted the array crystal, checked its sights, and then placed the rifle securely on the armory rack. Durga blinked. Did he just build that in a minute? She shook her head, although she didn't want to admit it; he was good at what he did.

Young looked back at the work bench and began to replace the briastplate of a shot up T-45d Power Armor piece. "You know, as much as I appreciate the MKII modified Tesla armor brought in from the Enclave?" He paused as he wrenched off the ruined sheet metal, throwing it to the side. "?I really wish they would give me a chance to work with that Stealth Armor they found in a vault here. We only have a few stealth boys available here... and they svck. But I'm sure I can reproduce that armor with the right resources. Instead they keep it locked up in that?"

Young turned to the sound of heavy footsteps and saw a Brotherhood Knight march into the armory. The soldier removed his power helmet and looked expectantly at Knight Captain Durga. Scribe Young grabbed a laser rifle off the shelf beside him and tossed it across the room to Durga who caught it then presented it to the Knight. "Here's your AER9 as requested, Knight Drennan."

The scribe lifted his brow at the initiate trainer, he looked like he just got his ass kicked.

Edward

Hm, there must be a lot of people that he could find that would be helpful to Cold Steel in the Citadel, it was of course home to the best soldiers D.C had to offer. But that was the problem, he had to search for the best of the best. And looking through the massive Citadel for the best of the best by himself was not going to work.

He jumped on to the Vertibird that had been assigned to the squad and found the two first members of Cold Steel talking to each other in the front of the Vertibird.

"Guys" he spoke, alerting them to his presence, "I'm going to fill you in on a bit of the situation. As you know, a while ago our only elite squad went MIA. Since then we have had no one to replace them, and that was a mistake on our behalf. Now we are going to rectify the situation with something called Cold Steel. A short time ago you two became the first members of history in the making, apart from your awesome leader, the all mighty Sentinel Shield. We are going to be the answer to any small, recon or impossible missions the Elder gives us. But, to do that, we need members. Your going to help me find these members. I'm giving you orders to search the Citadel for the best of the best, don't settle for anything else. Send them over to the bird and I'll take a look at them. Meet back here in 0500 hours. Oh and don't tell them much about Cold Steel, I love screwing around with my new recruits. But of course you already knew that, didn't you?" he chuckled.

They both agreed to his orders and sat their looking at him, as if waiting for him to prompt their departure.

"Don't just gawk at me! Get your asses of my bird!" he yelled at them, enjoying their scramble to get off.

Now he needed someone who was good with tech, a doc and a hell of a lot more soldiers. He'd start with the techie, there would probably be one suited perfectly to the squad in the Lab.

I'd jumped when the 'Sentinel' had woken me. He was young, very young in my eyes, but he seemed like someone that could do anything. Or as I'd heard on the radio once, a quote from Three Dog, "Theirs something behind those eyes of yours that screams, I'm the one who can get [censored] done!" I chuckled at that memory. I snapped out of it and put my armor on, then collected my weapons. I walked up to the bailey and watched the Initiate that had been tailing the Sentinel completely screw a knight over. I laughed, this was priceles, a trainer getting his ass handed to him by his own student.

I watched the small conversation part between my new 'leader' and this now appointed Knight. I almost felt my jaw drop, but I knew it had to be for a good reason. I hoped that they'd listen to me in bad situations, I did have experience... But this guy had to have been appointed such a high rank for a reason. I wondered why, I certainly would have tried to decline the position myself, I wanted responsibility but not THAT much. I grimaced, walking up to the Sentinel. "Hello, sir, I'm sorry we didn't get completely introduced, as you already know I'm Paladin Harrows, you are?" I asked him, just so I would be able to know him a bit more personally.

After his little speech, I still didn't know his name and he'd ignored me. I laughed to myself then walked over to a bench, I sat down on it. I was still lacking in sleep, so I must as well take a rest.

(OOC: Oops, we both posted at the same time, I'll fix.)

Edward

As he watched Paladin Harrows leave the bird, he remembered the man had tried to speak to him before, but he had been so deep in thought he had not responded.

"Harrows!" he called after the Paladin before he left the bird, "Wait up a sec."

He excused his rudeness before and explained how deep in though he was, which the Paladin accepted.

"To answer your earlier question, I'm sure you also know I'm Sentinel Shield. But, your probably going to be one of the highest ranked people in the squad, so you'll be my wingman I suppose. Call me Edward. I have been with the Brotherhood since birth, and have been in every major battle the Brotherhood has been in in my lifetime, but I've never seen anything quite like this squad occurring. Not even the Pride had as much support as this. I just hope I can lead it well. Ha, who am I kidding, I'm the only one who had a chance of succeeding in taking down the Enclave, and with this squad behind me I'm sure we can do it. With ease. Damn, I was trying to hold back my cockiness, guess I screwed that up. Anyway, enough about me, where were you serving last?"

((OOC: Thankss, a lot, it makes sense!))

IC:

I turned around, looking at Edward. I smiled, slowly but surely. "Last, I believe, was in a hospital bed," I laughed at the expression on his face, "About four years ago I was seriously injured in a big battle between a bunch of Super Mutants, but I got completely screwed up by one of them. Shot out both my legs, an arm and a couple of shots into my head," I grimaced at the memory. "But, I recently got out of intensive care, I'm ready for action, I've been training for about 2 weeks, getting my endurance built back up. I'll do my best, sir," I laughed, "But if I stuff up, I apologise, I don't mean for it to happen."

He didn't seem to answer straight away so I pulled out my rifle, starting to take it apart so I could check the mirrors. I certainly did NOT want my weapons stuffing up on me in the middle of battle.

"Well I have my orders time to pay my old friend Aegus Jordan a visit."

Patrick got off the vertibird and went to his old training area. It was a weird thought that he now outranked all his brothers who had trained with him. Everyone looked at him strangely when he entered the initiate barracks, he heard whispers from the initiates.

"Isn't that Patrick? How did he become a knight?"

"Are you serious I'm 10 times the knight he is."

Patrick ignored them and continued to look for Aegus. Just as he thought he found the initiate Knight Drennan burst in, with a brand new rifle it appeared.

"Knight O'Conner what the bloody hell are you doing in here?" Obviously upset about their previous encounter.

"Well I'm looking for the initiate Aegus Jordan I'm on direct orders from Sentinel Sheild the initiate is to report the vertibird and await orders from the Sentinel himself."

Drennan looked almost afraid for a moment as if he was worried about another beating.

"Ok then O'Conner I will inform when I next see him." Drennan said in a raspy voice.

"Thank you sir knight" replied Patrick.

As Patrick was leaving he overheard an initiate "What happened to your face sir?"
Patrick chuckled to himself "Good luck to that initiate he's going to need it."

Edward

"Damn Pete, sounds like you went to the brink of death and back, and it looks like you brought a few permanent trophies back with you. I don't doubt your reliability though, if you weren't sturdy Rothchild never would have suggested you. We're just gonna have to make sure that stuff happens again, to anyone."

He noticed his friend was cleaning his gun, so he excused himself and went to the Lab to size up the Tech heads down there.

He looked around for awhile, asking some questions and checking out some files as he went, but never finding what he wanted. They either didn't know much about weaponry or armor, or couldn't do anything in a fight, or were not compliant enough. That was until he visited the Quartermaster to get some gear. There, he found a guy around his age who he had never seen before. The guy was working on a Laser Rifle, expertly snapping the parts together and cleaning it out, adjusting the focus crystal and everything done in record time. This was his man.

"Atten-tion!" he yelled at the Scribe as the young man scrambled to his feet.

"What is your name?" he asked.

"Nicholas Young. Sir."

"Knight Captain Durga, sorry to do this to you, but Scribe Young, you have just be re assigned, grab your gear and sprint to the Vertibird in the Bailey! Welcome to Cold Steel."

I silently sat by myself, counting off every major battle I'd been in and every major person I'd fought with. I had at every moment fought with every member of the Lyon's Pride... Except for the Lone Wanderer, I'd seen him, once. A lot of people had, but he was one of the reasons I was out of that stupid hospital bed. He was good with medicine, thank god for that. Now I had a chance to prove that I didn't belong in the Citadel anymore, I belonged out in the field.

I still didn't know what this was about. All I knew was that I was to report to the Vertibird. I hated those things. Loud, lurching, and far too bulky to miss. Still, I donned my armour, picked up Herbert, my shotgun, and jogged to my rendezvous.

Young

Scribe Young blinked his eyes, obviously puzzled at this sudden reassignment. He had seen this man only once before, remembering the name Shields. But why was he being sent to board a Vertibird? What's Cold Steel? Some sort of new armor material? Mission name? Wasteland Delicacy? He wasn't exactly sure if this was some sort of joke the other Scribes were playing on him. Young was sure they wanted to humiliate him somehow. But regardless if it was a joke, an order was an order. Still, he wanted to know the nature of this task. He certainly didn't want to be banished to some library recovering dusty books.

The scribe looked over to Knight Captain Durga, who seemed equally confused. Young shrugged apologetically, before looking back to Shields.

"What should I bring, Sir?"

OOC: Wow, I've never seen so many of us Aussie's in one place before :P

IC

Max sat with his squad around a small fire, they had been cooking some soup they had brought along with them, and had decided to have some. It was a little chaotic with everything that had happened lately, with the Western Brotherhood having to move East to support the once controlled Elder Lyons Brotherhood. Max didn't like the way Elder Lyons had gone "native", he thought that supporting the locals was fine, but they had to come second to all else.

The group talked and laughed about previous ingagements with the Enclave and Muties, but suddenly, a Scribe walked over to the group with a calm caring face. His name was Scribe Jamison or something along those lines. Max thought that Scribes were useful, but they did get in the way at times.

"What can we do for you today, Scribe?" Max said taking a sip of his fresh soup. The scribe just smiled a moment, and looked at all their faces. They were grizzly and rough, Max and his squad had been through a lot on the West coast, and abroad.

"What is your name Knight?" He replied.

"Knight Max Daniels. But Max will do fine."

"Well Max, You are being summoned to the awaiting Vertibird. Gather your gear and report there immediatly. Welcome to 'Cold Steel'." The scribe walked off, and didn't say a single word after. Max looked back at his squad mates for a moment confused, but it was probably important. Expecially if a Scribe had come to tell him personally.

Max got up and grabbed his gear from his quarters and walked over to the Vertibird. He noticed some others, and approached them.

"What is this all about?"

I looked up at the man who'd just walked over, I smiled. "I'll tell you what it's about, we're going to be some of the most important guys in the Brotherhood, the best of the best, welcome to Cold Steel," I laughed at his reaction, "Haha, sorry, I just had to do that to someone, name's Paladin Harrows, yours?" I asked him, extending my hand.
"Max," He replied, just one word, I laughed, "Well, Max, nice to meet you, we're waiting for the Sentinel to get back up here with some more men."

Justin held his breath as he looked down his scope at the Super Mutant. It was obviously a Master because of its helmet and the way it commanded the others around. Justin pulled the trigger. He watched the laser travel the three hundred yards to his target before hitting the Master square between the eyes, which were wide in surprise. Afterwards, all that was left was a smoking hole where his forehead used to be. Confusion ran amok among the muties in the former Master's camp.

Easy as pie. Thought Justin. His sniper made hunting the muties unfair, but, then again, who cared? They were just muties after all.

He thought about taking out a few more, since he only had fired one of his ten shots, but decided against it -he might give away his position after all- and crawled away. When he was out of sight he stood up and started walking towards his camp, a mile away.

When he got there, he ate some rations, completely uninteresting meals that were there only to provide him with the nourishment need to blast away at the muties. And Enclave but they stayed out of the Mall now. He had just finished when his radio squawked.

"Citadel to Justin. Citadel to Justin. Justin! Where the hell are you?"

Justin grumbled and stood up. "Yeah?" He said when he got to the radio.

"Finally. You are to report back here as soon as possible."

"Fine." And he put the radio back.

He looked up. It was still dawn and he had plenty of time. He took his time packing up his camp, keeping watch at all times. You never knew when something could sneak up on you. All packed, he walked west towards the Citadel. If they called him back, even from his trivial mission of messing with the muties, it was important. Maybe he'd get reassigned a squad. Took 'em long enough.
