Daggerfell remake and Morrowind Expansion

Remake of Daggerfall? Nope. Wouldn't mind a HD version with remixed soundtrack, though.

i for one do not want to go to morrowind or cyrodil, been there done that give me something new in a DLC, maybe go to the thalmor homeland and "renegotiate" the terms of the concordat.
I am hoping that the morrowind and cyrodil on the game disc is purely there for geographical and size references and that we get new places for the DLC.

What we really need is for a clever programmer to create a controlling executable, one that hooks Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim into one overarching controller/display port. All you would need then would be to create the wilderness between provinces (or in Morrowind's case, the territory that borders the related provinces), and have the controller switch between executables on the fly in realtime.

And frankly, I'd be scared of Todd doing a Daggerfall remake. You'd wind up with no character control, a pale fraction of the landmass, likewise the number of locations, NPCs, etc. A better bet is going to be projects like DaggerXL, where the game data is being used with a modern engine.

Hm. Now if someone could write a game executable that recognized -all- of the .esm files structures.....

I think I would explode in nerdgasm-fuelled ecstasy if they did provincial expansions as DLC. I doubt it'll happen TBH, but it would be amazing if it did!

There no way they can remake Daggerfall, first of all it was a different map layout, about size of England. For Morrowind, it was an huge island and now we have Morrowind connected east side of Skyrim.

Was hoping Bethesda or teams would remake Morrowind and other provinces connected to Skyrim's Border and keep expanding it.

There's good news too if your interest in the Elder Scrolls dates back to 1996 and Daggerfall: Howard would love to treat elements of the second instalment to a makeover. "I'd like to see the city of Daggerfall redone, or Sentinel. Daggerfall should be on a giant bluff, overlooking the Iliac Bay, and we just couldn't pull it off well then."

Haha, people sure know how to dream! The land is there simply because if you climb a high mountain and then look towards the other provinces, you will want to see something. What else but the rest of Tamriel.

The roads are a result of people complaining about how cyrodiil had no roads leaving the province which made it feel isolated.

Roads blocked I found:

North east of map: paved road from Windhelm entering Morrowind. No barriers, only a "you cannot go that way" message. According to TES Lore, that's the road to the city of Blacklight

Blocked gate in Riften: behind it there's a road leading to Stendarr Beacon and to a wooden archway. Again, the path is blocked by an invisible barrier. The road continues into Morrowind province.

South west of Helgen, there's a paved road starting out of nowhere and going into Cyrodil. There's a wooden archway closed by a door. The road possibly leads to somewhere between Bruma and Chorrol.

I tried to reach High Rock but the road took a turn and ended into a step mountain.

I still haven't found a road possibly leading to Hammerfell.

Some of the gates that you said were closed aren't.. They are open in my game and the road to Daggerfell leads to a rock that could be a cave in the expansion..

A few people already posted on this thread saying the same thing.. Just look it up.. Todd Howard says right before E3 that he wants to redo it..

I'm pretty sure they've done this for a little bit of believability so Skyrim doesn't feel completely shut off and isolated from the rest of Tamriel; and perhaps also for the convenience of modders. I really wouldn't read into it as a sign that we'll see the other provinces appear as DLC.

What they said.

I found a road near falkreth I think that heads towards hammerfall, and there is a wooden archway/wall with no door and you can pass through it and then get the wonderful you can go no further message.

You do realize that Morrowind is not just the big island, that island is specifically Vvardenfell, which is part of the larger region known as Morrowind.

I don't think a Vvardenfell expansion would be too far-fetched.

Yes it would. They already made a game of it.

So? Lore wise much has happened in the land of Morrowind. That was also years ago and personally I think they could do a lot revisiting the region and exploring it as it is now.

I think maybe Atmora wouldn't be out of the question either, it would certainly tie in with Skyrim.

I would love to return to Morrowind, less for Cyrodil, but more than that I would like to go someplace I haven't already. It is interesting that they included so much extra land, but they did that with Oblivion too - But, wouldn't it be neat if they farmed out a spinoff, new vegas style for Obisidian to make - before you all attack, remember Oscuro now works for OE.

Just the other night, I stumbled upon a locked gate (similar to the one near Riften) just Southeast of Falkreath in the mountains of White Pass. You can't get through, but past this gate should presumably be the province of Cyrodiil.
