Give it to Andre. He can then make Divine weapons for you.

When you find an ember, give it to you one of the smiths/merchants. Only one specific NPC will take the ember that he can use, if he doesn't take it from you than someone else can use it.

He can then make divine weapons. You just need the right weapon upgrades and the right titanite shards/chunks/slabs.

When visiting a smith, look at "Modify Equipment"
This is where you can change weapons into new types, using the embers.
As you find more embers (and deliver them to the correct NPC) new options will open in the "Modify Equipment" section.

For you? Magic is better. Intelligence scales Magic damage. Faith scales Divine Damage. You should have much higher Intelligence than Faith so go with Magic.

Iirc you can farm green shards from the slimes in the depths. Someone already explained that above I think.

Better weapons, better magic. Higher level. More skill with the game.
The same things needed to beat any tough enemy in most games

If you haven't killed the Capra Demon, then you haven't been to the Depths yet.

What's the question?
If you're heading in the back way, the bonfire is waaaaay down at the bottom in the swamp.

16 strenght is high enough to use the Moonlight Greatsword (a must have for a magic build) http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=211555929447176948

20 Vit is not very much. Most people go to at least 30.
Endurance is probably the most important stat in the game.

You're still basically at the start of the game. I wouldn't worry about what your final stats are going to be until you see more of the game, and then you can decide how to shape your character.

Get closer. Try standing in the water, just be careful of the deep water.

It does not respawn.

That sounds very boring and frustrating.

But they are the easiest way to farm Dragon Scales. No other reason to bother with them.
