how do i use dragon scales to upgrade the drake sword?

so its a useless ring ? i only do 308 with a great heavy soul arrow with ring that would be maybe 70 more damage ? and im level 35 s if its designed for 30-40 ill probably farm dragon untill im 60

Any blacksmith can upgrade it for you. (if you have scales and enough souls to pay for it)

Not at all !!
It's a very powerful ring. Especially later in the game it can boost your spells a huge amount.

I don't remember which blacksmith you have to go to in order to upgrade dragon weapons. I've never bothered upgrading them, myself. They're pretty useless because of poor scaling.

The ring is far from useless, and yes, you'd do ~70 more damage with Great Heavy Soul Arrow.

With your current Int.
As your Int rises, so would the damage added by the ring.

The ring increases sorcery damage by 20%. Pretty much a mostly flat rate, except for some special sorceries iirc.

A 20% increase in damage is a huge thing though.

That was his best one yet, methinks. And the ending gave me a good chuckle!

I love his videos, but he's running out of ideas for this series.
The Kalameet one was the only surprise for me.

You only rung the 1st bell, right?
It's not the best, but it's decent.
The inner Forest is better and quicker, but I'm not sure if you've been there yet.

you'll find the drake sword easily gets outpaced by upgrading even the most basic of swords to +5 and beyond. If you've been to the depths you should have the first ember that allows regular weapon upgrades to +10 that is found in a chest beside the first meat cleaver butcher.

Depending on if you are a dex or str based build find a weapon with a good damage bonus for one or the other and test it out to see if you like the moveset and upgrade the heck out of it... the drake sword is really only a superior weapon for the first few areas. I fell in to the same problem of going with the drake sword for a long period (right into blight town) not realizing what I was missing out on. don't focus points on str just to use the drake sword, unless you really want those str points for later. you'll just be wasting them on a weapon that you could already do better than.

This. I didn't get the Drake Sword until near the end of the game, so I stuck with my trusty claymore until I replaced it with a fully upgraded Gravelord Sword.

Man, seems like a lot of Darkwraiths have moved to master the art of parrying. I just cannot do this at all.

you can use the drake sword as long as you like, but if you take a normal weapon to +5 you can go to new londo's blacksmith and ascend it to a magic weapon with green shards. if you can farm 10 green shards from the slimes in the hall outside the depths bonfire you can take your magic sword to +5 and it will very easily out damage the drake sword. if you've ventured your way to the bottom of blight town you can farm slugs for green shards as well they drop 5 at a time.

Magic weapons scale with intelligence so they'll work for your mage.

I used the drake sword for way too long my first playthrough because I didn't understand weapon upgrades and stat bonuses and refused to figure it out. drake sword doesn't scale with anything, its base damage will never change. Just a suggestion to help make your life easier. if you have the shards handy already, try it out and see if you like it.

you seem pretty hell bent on using the drake sword no matter what, so go ahead... but you're wasting souls on getting Str to 16 on a mage and even at +5 the drake sword is easily surpassed by almost every magic sword due to the int bonus. that's the last i'll comment on your choice of weapon.
