Some weapons, like the Drake Sword, are unable to be buffed with effects, so magic weapon doesn't work

Pretty much only the normal weapons that are upgraded along the normal paths can be buffed with weapon enhancement sorceries or miracles. Magic, Divine, Fire, Chaos, Enchanted, Occult, Lightning, Dragon and Demon Weapons cannot be buffed. I think there are a few exceptions with boss/Demon weapons, but it has been too long for me to remember.

Only the basic upgrade path can really be buffed. This is why the most damaging builds revolve around Strength/Dex scaling weapons and Int/Faith scaling buffs.

My personal favorite is Dex/Faith builds.

Not all weapons can have Magic Weapon cast upon them.
The Drake sword can't.
A Dagger +5 can, but a Magic Dagger +5 can't (it already has an enchant on it)

Be sure you have your weapon in your right hand, and your catalyst in your left hand for Magic Weapon to be able to applied to the weapon.
If it still wont work, then that weapon cannot be enchanted in any way.

Well for me, I'm currently really enjoying my Str build. Other than those who can parry effectively, I've been able to hold my own very well at level 45

With a +10 Shield, craft the Crystal Ring Shield.
With a +10 Spear, craft the Moonlight Butterfly Horn.

The Horn is a good idea. It's a good weapon for Int builds.

But you will have to wait until later in the game. You haven't met the blacksmith that can make it yet.

First things first, you don't need Havel's Ring if it doesn't help you... you still fat roll, cause you don't put points in to End.

And you don't need a Shield in your right hand... just place 1 shield that you use in your left... you can always change if you need the other shield.

If you have the Favor Ring, you can use that, BUT it will break if you remove it, SO don't ever remove it if you want the extra HP and Stamina.

Put points in to Dex up to 45 (not more) so you cast spells faster... and if you put points in to End to 40 (not more... 40 is the limit for most skills) you can walk, run faster.

Do this (if you want, that is) http://mugenmonkey.com/darksouls/?c=221174403462267913

but then i wont be able to get any further with 37 int after riinign both bells the area it unlocked requires my strongest spell to kill the enemies and i only have 8 uses of that everythign else doesnt do enough damage to even leave a scratch or i end up useing half the uses on one enemy

and why do i need to move fast ?

and id need like 500,000 souls to maybe get to 30 dex

You can put more in to Intell if you want too.... so you can use all the spells in the game.

But you need some End and Dex.... you want low HP? okay, but put some in Dex 45 and End 40.... you will need it.

And don't put more in to Intell if you can use the spell you want, so don't do 99 Intell or something like that... just enough to use the spell.

Spoiler
If you ever make it to Seath the Scaleless, cut off his tail and you will have the Moonlight Greatsword

Edit tip: in Sen's Fortress there's a Lightning Spear... and when you visit the Giant Blacksmith, you can downgrade it to a +10 Spear and make the Moonlight Butterfly Horn

This is what a heavy Int build would normally look like:

Vit - 47
End - 40
Att - 23
Str - 16 (so you can one-hand the Moonlight Grt Swrd)
Dex - 12
Res - 8
Int - 45
Fai - 8

Or, a more flexible Int/Dex build...
Dex allows faster magic, and you can use some really good weapons.
Vit - 36
End - 40
Att - 16
Str - 16
Dex - 40
Res - 8
Int - 40
Faith - 8

But you should notice how neither looks like anything like yours

Have you even gone to Blighttown yet? I suggest stop reading the wiki and get in the game and make some progress

Farming the Phalanx? That is a pretty easy, quick and sizable way to farm souls. Painted World of Ariamis is pretty bomb for that.

I must say that pyromancy is more fun than I thought it would be and has injected a bit of energy back into DS for me. I was bored and had some excess souls after farming large shards and green shards from blighttown slugs so I took my flame to +10 just to see what all the fuss is about and it's been handy to have for my ninja type char (high dex, low vit, katana). it's nice not having to pump points into faith or int to make use of the spells, just a few attunement points and souls for the flame. i'm not usually much of a magic user in any game that I play so this is an easy way to get a bit of an intro to it :)

It worked well for this character on an RP level too, since she woke up in the asylum with no memory and an old witch ring... I had no idea where I was going to go with it, but now she's starting to believe she might have been one of Izalith's daughters that survived the flame of chaos like Quelana but lost all memories, power, was thrown through time and turned undead (we only really meet 4 of the sisters so 3 are unaccounted for right?). Though any connection to her sisters was lost from becoming undead, Quelana sensed a familiar bond and took me as an apprentice. She now calls me Quelarya and has asked me to set their mother right... kind of out there and probably unlikely that a Lord's daughter could be turned undead, but i'm having fun so screw the lore... head canon for the win haha!

Poison mist is just greasy as hell though! used it twice on Havel and watched his meter slowly drain until he dropped haha! may have to try it out on a couple of black knights that haven't been overly friendly...

hmm, lets see, for the Daughters of the witch of Izelith, we have
Quelaag, Fair Lady, Quelana, the one in Lost Izelith, the dead one next to Ceaseless Discharge, and it is presumed that the two orbs in the Bed of Chaos are the remaining two, and are bound to Izelith.

But, who the hell truly knows. Heck, even the Gold Hemmed robes say it's Quelana's, so that may be 1 unaccounted Sister of Chaos.

Actually, we know what happened to all the sisters:

1. Quelaag

2. The Fair Lady

3. Quelaana

4. The dead sister where you get the black-hemmed robes which Ceaseless Discharge watches

5. The insande sister that attacks you near the Bed of Chaos

6 and 7. Those glowing orbs near Bed of Chaos are what remains of two of the sisters

RP destroyed

well alright then, crapped on my dreams! didn't realize the glowing orbs were the other 2 sisters and forgot about the dead one beside ceaseless... i'm just going to pretend that the two orbs are actually one sister that had her soul split in two and carry on with my RP.

It's my favourite of the three.
Great Combustion and Great Chaos Fireball with Ascended Flame +5... Things are going to get hot :flamed:
Add Dusk's Crown and Bellowing Ring, they get pretty overpowered.

Some are more designed just for PvP (Firestorm/Tempest) but Power Within is probably the most useful buff in the entire game.
Undead Rapport is a lot of fun for trolling in invasions. Especially because no one ever sees it coming.
