I just noticed the lighting in this picture appears to be that of electric floodlights.

There have also been Dev RP's hinting the Thalmor have created soulpower supercomputers...

Whatever we're getting a good look at isn't the Promokhiin you think he is.

I just heard about this today...ok so not much information other than the name of the DLC. There's nothing more speculate. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Any release date yet?

First off: I was wrong, there was info today.

That being said:

What can we make out of the Name Dawn "Dawnguard"? Guards of dawn? Does the dawn need to be protected? From a different view, look at the name Dragonguard...Since the Dragonguard kill dragons wouldn't that mean that the DawnGuard "kills" or hates the dawn? Who hates the Dawm? That is simple: Vampires. That being said said, looking at what Bethesda has done before: at their game jam(Vampire lord Transformation), the new update with new vampire animations, and everyone's favorite crossbow rumor.

What if the vampire lord transformation was just testing that it could work, not that it will mean the console users would be able to do it, but that it could successfully work with Skyrim's environment. Apply that framework to an NPC would be a cinch after that. Where the Crossbows fit in to my theory is this: 9 out of 10(don't get statistical on me) times the best way to kill a vampire is with a stake through the heart, right? It would be hard to fire a stake from a standard bow, so how would you be able to take down a flying vampire lord? With a crossbow that shoots bolts...And where in Skyrim can you get a crossbow that fits the PC well? Dwemer Spheres have the perfect sized Crossbows on their left arms.

Okay, you're probably going to ask so how does this fit in story wise. I'm getting to that right now, chill out. Story wise you somehow learn a town(Possibly in Skyrim, Possibly not) being plagued by a Flying demon, but when Dovahkiin arrives in the attacked village he/she gets infected with a different type of vampirism. This being a different type of Flying demon than he/she is used to facing, he/she is forced to find an expert on this demon and how to kill it. And so Dovahkiin is pointed in the direction of a "Local" vampire expert on how to stop and kill these demons. But it would require a stake through the heart to stop this specific type of vampire. That would be near impossible to do with it flying about wreaking havoc. So Dovahkiin asks how he/she can lure down to the ground to kill it the Dovahkiin way. That would be impossible because it is just as smart(if not more) as a normal man.

He being an expert in killing vampires points the Dovahkiin to the Dwemer ruins to find a way to defeat this demon, low and behold Dovahkiin finds vampires there and kills them and through the loot searching he/she finds some documents about some experiment the vampires were doing with the Falmer residing there. Upon returning to the Expert you give the him the plans or a crossbow arm from a sphere as well the experiment notes, as he looks over the notes he discerns that this strand of vampirism is actually a mutated Falmer disease that mutated by mixing with the blood of a normal vampire eventually turning them into the vampire lord that the Dovahkiin saw plaguing the village or country side. The Expert then presents the Dovahkiin a modified version of the Dwemer sphere crossbow that fires stakes. Thus allowing the Dovahkiin bring down the Vampire Lord and drive a stake through it's heart.

But now your gonna ask how would we cure a mutated version of Vampirism? Assuming that it cannot be cured through the conventional ritualistic means, An item that would mean nothing to us otherwise in the game and is sold by a trustworthy man: Brynjolf.

Does anyone else like the idea of BGS adding a list of things you can toggle on and off in the settings in the DLC? Things like dragon spawning for example. I beat the MQ, so I feel like I should be done fighting dragons.

Maybe the Dragonborn has to stop someone or something from bringing in the dawn of new era in the sense of Ruling over everything.

Geez, I wonder how LONG the thread would be if the forum didn't have a 200-post limit :P

We've had about 10 threads in 24 hours already. This is getting insane.

So it's coming "this Summer" to Xbox exclusively before any other platform. That could mean late August. Add another 30 days for PS3/PC players and we could be looking at late September for the first expansion. Cool. Nicely done Beth

I would like to say one thing, but before I do let it be known I like Todd Howard he seems really cool, and I don't understand why people dislike him because he seems like a great guy.

Okay I would like to say that if this new DLC has something to do with dragons, then I will try to find Todd Howard and go Saints Row 3 on him and smack him with a [censored] haha. This game does not need anything else that involves dragons. If anything I think the DLC should be based around werewolves and vampires since they seemed to get the short end of the stick in the vanilla game.

^Todd Howard may be the game's director, but you give him way too much credit. ;) Don't worry about a silly dragon expansion.

*6 months later a dragon DLC is anounced.

I really really hope not. Yes do more with the vamp and lych stuff but not as the main part of the new quest. Hve it bee new features. It's not like the only thing they can do is go dragon or vap and lych.

I would be pissed if the new DLC was dragon related, but Todd Howard is cool, I think he wishes they could spend more time on werewolves and vampires.

Eyes = something related with you dragonborn blood
Dawnguard = I'm more of the idea of Dawn is refering to Tamriel and I hope we can deal with those thalmor.
