Dawnguard and Future DLC Discussion - Thread #21

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 2:07 pm

Almost a full year for the first DLC is crazy. How many are they going to have? They must plan on supporting the game for a very long time. They have to move on eventually...

The Ultimate Edition of Fallout: New Vegas came out 1 and 3/4 years after the core game.

In other words, the GOTY will be here around midearly 2013.

That's made by Obsidian though.

Has anyone checked the Dragonborn's page on the skyrim wiki, it implies a connection between the Dragonborn and Talos in a conversation with the Gruybeards calling the dragonborn ysmir in the trivia section.
Also the mad preacher in front the Talos statue remember the knights of the nine DLC and the preacher in Anvil.
So it's probably something to do with Divines and possibly the Dawn Era of tamerial.
Sounds cool. They did say that the dlc will be more like expansions, so they should take as long as they need so in the end we'll get the best product possible. There's not going to be another elder scrolls game in a LOOONG time, so we may as well enjoy the hell out of this one.

Made by Obsidian, released by Bethesda, who promised to do DLC how Obsidian did it.

Lord_Archaic seems to be on the right track. There are other details that make sense here:

Meridia has already been affiliated with the concept of Dawn through her artifact: Dawnbreaker. Combine this with her hatred of undead, and it isn't hard to imagine her tasking the Dragonborn with killing an army of Falmer-Vamps.

If the Snow Prince is the leader of these vampires, and looks like the old Chimer, he would definitely be a cool antagonist. The GameJam vampire lord could be connected with him too, since the animation list included something like "snowprince_ascension," which could easily be the animation he uses to change into the vampire lord.

the part about the preacher is right though, rather odd they only had one preacher yelling openly about Talos and with the Draganborn's arrival, he doesn't even seem to notice your the Dragonborn in conversations.

Wow. This is the most informative/creative thread yet. Instead of people crying over 360 vs PC vs PS3. Kudos, great ideas!

We might not see the launch of the second expansion until early/mid 2013. If they plan on releasing more than one expansion we will not see a GotY edition by mid 2013.

Dragonborn is ascending to godhood. You heard it here first folks.

Or restoring the faith in Talos and as his guardian is bringing the Dawn of Talos to Skyrim and maybe all of Nirn.

Something tells me vamps will be an extended sidequest and not a central quest for the expansion - kind of like the eye of magnus quest.

This is going to be about the Falmor, I would bet.

Dawnguard? Dawn is in the East, isn't it? Morrowind connection? Perhaps the Thalmor will attack from part of Morrowind, maybe around the Rift? I think the geography works for such a scenario.......

Dammit, there better be major quests for the dark brohood and thieve's guild, too.........

Think they'll do anything with Dawnstar or, especially, Winterhold? You'd think SOMETHING was in the works.............

And what about those Psijic wierdos? Antisocial jerks, taking that pretty glowing orb for themselves..........

Release date:
I suspect concurrent with or shortly after E3. That means us PC folks need to wait til 4th of july or thereabouts............

BTW: you console guys need to insist that the next versions of PS or XBox are equivalent to very souped up PC's, I think you guys get shafted continually and brazenly by the weakness of your HW. And there's no excuse - the HW developers should be able to bolt in multicore Intel CPU's, TONS of high speed memory, big fat wide local and peripheral busses, roaring GPU/video support that is at least partially reconfigurable for SW updates.................I'm tellin' ya, you're being abused for your loyalty to a platform.

I really just think we will all have to wait and see, twiddle our thumbs some more, on what might be coming our way. It might be a waste of time and money, might not, we'll see.

Uh we saw what happened when Mer tried to control the eye of Magnus. it's not safe in Mundas. and i think that the Khajiit would have tried to steal it if he got the chance :P

I liked the idea of the Thalmor are coming into skyrim to take full and complete control of it and i think that you will be guided by Talos himself to get rid of the Thalmor maybe once and for all.

Still i like physical copies. did they have a dlc disc for Knights of The Nine? because on UESP it says Xbox has exclusivity for the first two expansions. meaning that there will be more then two dlcs. hopefully we will get dlc discs for all of them.

Dude badass avatar! But fighting the Thalmor will be the next game most likely, and returning to Morrowind does not make sense. I wouldn't mind a DLC that has a main quest that does not involve werewolves or vampires, but have side quests that do, and update them majorly.

Thanks! Vegeta is the [censored] ;) And true doesnt really fit dawnguard, but returning to help restore mainland Morrowind and fight off the Argonians would be epic!
