Dawnguard Info and Discussion - Thread #37

I like the sound of it so far, with the exception of the forced 3rd person thing when you're in Vampire form.

I just figured something out. In the trailer it showed the Elder Scroll with the Markings of Markarth and Solitude. Markarth is in the Southwest and and Soitude is north. I just discovered the castle's locations!

I think the vampire castle will be around that location ( west of Solitude by the coast, close to or even just across the high rock border)

I think castle dawnguard is close to Riften, possibly near the Morrowind border.

I liked that Kotaku article. It has me pretty confident that this DLC will be worth buying for me. I especially liked this: "Dawnguard overall as a DLC, adds things across the game for higher-level characters." I think that improving the game as a whole is important for an expansions, so this, along with all the talk of seamless integration, really wins me over. The design principles that Bethesda are using sound like just what I want.

In the latest interview i noticed it seemed that todd and the team has really focused on just adding a variety of things that they really thought would improve the game, instead of just one questline and thats it

Yeah, I love that. I really think that that should be encouraged, because to me, that is what an expansion should be. I have always been disappointed when I have bought expansions that didn't even touch the main game.

Snow elves would be my best bet also

But i loved hearing that there are TWO new landmasses appearing  im gonna guess that the other will be the area in which the castles are situated

Am I the only one who thinks that the areas displayed in the Trailer between 0:55 and 0:57 as well as at 1:05 are located in Roscrea?

I dont know how you go to the soul Cairne if you side with the dawnguard because it looks like the portal is at castle Volkihar.

Well, I suppose that you'll have to fight your way through this castle...

I wasnt even expecting to be allowed to if I was dawnguard, that makes the idea of my playthrough alot better :D perhaps dawnguard will get some area of exploration to hone their vampire owning skills :P

More than likely some massive fight/invasion scene, that or you conjure your own portal to it.

Edit: If you can get there at all playing as Dawnguard. ;)

I am. I don't like werewolf form either. It would be nice if both forms had an optional 1st person view. Maybe forced 3rd person for the initial transformation, but the option for first person after that.

Well did anyone else notice when they showed the dragon in the soul cairne did you see its shout where it threw one single orb of purple light and that light dispersed into 5 others .Or was that just the scenery.

im unsure if they would be able to pull of the whole sprinting on all fours look in first person, it seems like it would be extremely difficult to pull off - for werewolf that is, i guess the same barriers apply for the vampires

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-06-05-the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim-dawnguard-preview says the crossbows will get their own perk trees. Isn't it in contradiction with what was told earlier?

It also appears that the controls are different, whether you are hovering or walking. Seems that you can't use vampiric spells when walking, nor can use melee attacks when hovering.

I'd be 90% sure that its just a mistake on their behalf, in every interview its been stated its in the same perk tree as 'bow and arrow'

But I like the fact that it forces you to watch the epicness from 3rd person, to each their own  I personally think I would get motion sickness from a 1st person running marathon as a werewolf

is the Bite usable only when in vampire lord form? and is it a finishing move or we can use it "freely"?

It says it's a power attack. I think it should be usable in both forms, considering we see a regular looking Nord bite someone in the trailer.
