Did you become bored of Skyrim quicker than previous Elder S

Yes. I'm not sure whether it's the game and all it's bugs or whether it's just me losing interest in video games as I age.

Yeah. I once banged my head repeatedly against a wall for three straight days. Though it hurt each time I did it, I was certain something good was coming up and the next time I did it I would feel warm and fuzzy inside. So yeah, I know where you are coming from, bro.
Yeah playing a game is exactly like banging your head against the wall nice comparison by the way.I take it you are not one who tries to find redeeming features of a game and just writes them off from the get go bro?

175 hours out of a $60 game make the price of entertainment approximately 34 cents an hour. That's not getting your moneys worth? There are really that many alternative uses for your money that would have gotten you a better bang for the buck?

You're missing the point. I got 1000 hours out of Oblivion and Morrowind before I needed mods. Skyrim's predecessors lasted about 10x as long as Skyrim did. It is natural to expect the same amount of hours out of a game when its predecessors managed to do it no problem.

If you played Skyrim for 300+ hours, that was money extremely well spent. Now, go do something else.

This thread is about a comparison to Skyrim's predecessors, not other games. We all know what a sorry state the current game industry is in when it comes to single-player games and their whopping 5-6 hour long campaigns.

This is a pretty strong argument i actual tell alot of my friends when they consider a new game (any game) purchase.
Would you be disappointed if you played it for a week after spending 50 euros, totalling somewhere like 40+ hrs gametime, or would you rather go see 5 movies and be entertained for 10 hrs?

Games dont svck if they occupy you for 50-60 hrs or so.
Its the spoiled approach of the gamer feeling they *must* get at least 300+ hrs of joy for 50 euros.
Try dropping that amount of money for anything else but a videogame and hope to be entertained for more than 10 hrs.

Its comparing entertainment to entertainment, even though in a sequal to a (any)particular game the end result may net you less than what you originally experienced in its predecessor(s).

No, I got the point. I was just responding to the notion that you didn't get your moneys worth. There is a difference between stating that previous titles were a better bang for the buck than Skyrim and saying that a game that Skyrim wasn't worth it's purchase price. At 175 hours, it was still a good buy even if it didn't live up to your expectations.

Well technically not bored because haven`t played much at all. I started and got to about level 25 and it was ok. But I knew it could be so much more better. I wasn`t happy with the shallowness. So I put Skyrim on hold until the CK and real mods started coming out.

I`m glad I did too as now we have the Patch and some decent enough mods to get me starting fresh,

No not at all. I pretty much stopped at the same time for each game waiting for DLC if the wait was too long I just went back and played it again. Still pouring over 200 hours for each game for me is a lot since The Elder Scrolls isn't the only series I like playing a lot. Halo and this game is pretty much the only two games where I pour a lot of hours into it stop playing for a while and come right back to it. I feel like I got my money's worth. :)

To the OP:

Hell to the [censored]ing yes.

This is why in my words exactly:
I have played vanilla Oblivion for much more than 1000 hours. Content is not the sole measure of a great RPG; the character build matters as much. And both Oblivion and Morrowind have more choices and process in their character builds than does Skyrim. Adding castles to Skyrim will only prolong the game as long as it takes to explore the castle.

I simplly find it IMPOSSIBLE to get into it like i could TES 3 and 4. I feel no connection to my character unlike in Oblivion. Also I feel that without a class my character has no identity and not only that but NO ONE acknowledges your accomplishments except the guards! Me: "Hey everybody I just saved the world!" People: "Great lets write you a song that doesn't credit you directly and then pretend we didn't know you were the one who saved us all." Like WTF Bethesda? Where is all the praise like in Oblivion?! "It's you! The Hero of Kavatch! It is truly an Honor to meet you!" What happend to that?! Now its just "Hello can I help you?" Do you see the point I'm trying to make?

To Bethesda:

Bust out one hell of a F*** bad ass DLC ASP! You're lettin' me down!

same here with morrowind bud, oblivion svcked but I still play morrowind, that doesn't mean it's not boring. morrowind is pretty boring now that i've played it for like uhhh, 9 years? games get old. that doesn't mean they stop being fun. something can be boring and enjoyable at the same time. golf is not exactly a fast paced sport, yet it's enjoyable to a lot of people. boring as all get out to watch, but it's still fun. and I'm sorry to say, but there is simply NOT 1000 hours of content in oblivion, not even remotely. you are either stretching your rp to the limits or using MANY mods, but vanilla oblivion? lol. it's hideous and terrible. no one could play vanilla oblivion for 1000 hours. there is simply not 1000 hours of content.

Most hours with one char (my main) in Oblivion (all DLC) vanilla is 500 hours... what does that say about me?

The depth of the main quest in Morrowind was if you read all the books. The end battle was like something from a Japanese gag manga. A guy who looked like a cartoon bear fell off a walkway and jumped around in the lava.

Even the most avid Morrowind fan most likely will not defend the end of the main quest in Morrowind. Everything leading up to that point was epic. But the end is exactly like you describe it. It kind of makes me laugh now.

Not 'bored' of the game in the slightest, nor will I be since I prefer Skyrim over Oblivion. 372 hours in, finished most sidequests, any guild quests I wanted to do, and main quest. Mods will keep me going for years, as they did with Oblivion.

Money well spent.

No, the mountain of glitches that seem to be a result of allowing us the freedom to do whatever has made me bored, because one must start a whole new character from scratch to fix it and go through hours of drudgery to get to a point of interest again.

Did you become bored of Skyrim and feel like you have "finished" all that you want to do, in a quicker time frame than previous Elder Scrolls titles?

After 400 hours i'm taking a little break.

the point is, if you've played skyrim for 300 hours, you played it for 300 hours for a reason. shut your mouth, you enjoyed THREE HUNDRED HOURS, you got your moneys worth, that's the point. i don't think people understand nor realize how long 300 hours is rofl..that's like 3 straight weeks of uninterrupted gameplay. yeah, you kind of got what was paid for and tripled.

Yes, but some people expect Skyrim to be their life simulator for the next 15 years, and it fails at that. How can it be possible ?

yes i did. I stoped playing Skyrim after 70 hours( 20 hours on xbox, 50 hours on pc). I have over 800 hours on oblivion (pc + xbox)...

But thats mostly because Skyrims 1.3 "patch" [censored] my game up so badly oon xbox I just stoped playing. Oblivion is way more fun with all the mods etc. Also the quests are better. But thats my opinion.

However when Skyrim mods run just as perfect as oblivon mods on my macbook pro I will start playing again. Btw is there a way to innstal the new texture pack when im on my mac? I use a Cider wrapper btw if it matters.

yeah i agree, vanilla OB is simply so bad i cannot play it at all. skyrim, however, i have surpassed the 300 hour mark and am enjoying it greatly still. i didn't do that with oblivion. when it came out, i put in like..60 hours, that was all I could take. the game was just too ugly, the quest were pretty fun, but my Lord it was just a bad game. the general feel of it was not good for me. skyrim however, the opposite, it's a beautiful game, could spend 10 hours just walking around. that could NOT happen in oblivion, since every single thing looked exactly the same - bright green. ugh.

not everyone is the same i guess cuse i have over 500hours on Vanilla OB and i'm now playing it again i never mod anything so yes it can be done....

Yes. Way more build types possible in previous games. Skyrim is lacking. Magic gets old real fast with the lack of effects and no spell creation. Perks don't add as much diversity as I though they would have either.

Same here. Skyrim needs work. It needs a DLC that will give the whole game an overhaul. Honestly its the story that is the real problem in my opinion and from what I've read many others opinions as well. Radiant Quests are BORING bottom line.

I never wanted to believe Skyrim was boring I was the last of my friends who stopped playing it. and i thought I would NEVER get bored of it. I never reached the 300 hour mark and found my self expecting more. The sick thing is I REALLY want to play it still but every time I start I just feel sick of it and just shut it off again.

I don't think these threads have a hope of changing anything, because the devs know it all already (seriously, they do, they talk about this exact issue and they are not idiots), and for everyone saying go back to Morrowind there is someone else saying chill out anyway, and the next game is five years off for the next console generation. I kind of think that if you believe you are affecting anything with these threads you are fooling yourself. It is just people giving their opinions on what game they like. But keep at it, that is what forums are for. If you don't like such discussions then don't click on the thread. So long as the thread title is accurate to the content of the OP then there is no problem.
