DLC Exclusive. Discussion Continues.

Post » Sun Dec 12, 2010 6:36 pm

I have a question for all the PS3 and PC users. With knowing what you know now, would you of made a different choice in gaming platform just for this DLC. If your anything like me, the choice of which next gen system to get was simple. Which ever one comes out first is the one to get. Personally I would of thought that the PS3 would have surpassed the 360 in superiority by now. I didn't factor in that multi platform game development would usually be prioritized on the 360, or that M$ would be so vigilant with exclusive games and DLC.

Hell no. I've always loved PCs and PSs. I have nothing against Xbox players, just to clarify that, or anything against the Xbox console, but I'm not willing to sacrifice what I'm comfortable with for a console with that high of a failure rate. I'm still sticking by my PS3 and PC for other Bethesda games, and I will do so for the future. I'm not going to support a company like Microsoft and let their DLC exclusivity make me buy a 360 out of impulse.

I would not change it, if they get a lot of people buying on PS3 that will make them want to release DLC for us next time.

Even if my 360 still worked and this news was announced early enough that I could change my pre-order from the PC to 360, I wouldn't. Mods are far, far too much of a benefit to pass up just for some DLC that will eventually be released on my platform anyway.

No I wouldn't. I'm a PC exclusive fella, so I'm in the "losing" side with this. Yet, I'm not angry at all because what ever the DLC is, isn't worth sweating about. There'll be other DLC's to look forward to - and the core game is what counts.

i think that the DLC should be released on all consoles at the same time, but seriously.complaining about DLC before the game even comes out?i would worry about this kind of thing about three months after release, but thats just my opinion.

At least you see the light. Everyone needs to realize that it would probably be released for there system anyway.

While I agree that the fail rate is terrible, do know that with a high speech skill, getting your 360 repaired is free and only takes a week and a half to get back. I'm still not defending the 360s fail rate though. Also I didn't figure any PC players would switch. If my PC didn't crash trying to play Galactic Civ 2, I would probably of bought the PC version as well.

And PS3 users who, until the news of the DLC was released, were waiting with as much anticipation as the rest of us for the game but now that you have to wait a month or 2 for DLC your cancelling your preorders and taking your money off the game its really really childish. I can understand taking your money of the game if you had to pay for something xbox users already but your not. and I really doubt that you'll have to pay more for the DLC then us anyway.

You're missing the big picture I think dude. If it looks like a particular platform is receiving greater support because the company behind the platform is throwing money at the publisher, that doesn't exactly bode well for future support for the platform you own that's seemingly not getting it. It's not far-fetched to imagine much needed patches being delayed, "The latest patch for 360 shall be released tomorrow. Unfortunately the PS3 patches have been pushed back and will be released next month." lol Insider feedback: There are currently far more people playing the 360 version, so we decided to tackle the issues on that platform first."

It's easy not to imagine it when you've ordered the version on the platform getting the additional content support. You're currently a happy chap posting in the province of the disgruntled. That's like entering a thread about people have problems with bugs, just to say, "I'm not having any problems with bugs."

There isn't enough information to rage though, really, but there isn't enough information to stop it, either. ^_^

The thing about PC users and this doesn't just go for quest based mods this goes for everything, all pc mods are free. how many new companions have console users gotten? none how many companions can PC users get? over 300. How many new guns can console users get? maybe 4-5 guns that are the exact same copies of other guns but with a fancy name and higher stats per DLC. How many new guns can PC users get? over 19,000.

Those are just a couple of equivalencies, and that data came from fallout Nexus.

Just because the PC users have this doesn't mean we should get DLC later than anyone else. Not to mention some of the new stuff in NV was inspired by FO3 mods.

It's kind of funny. GFWL is horrible, but it was the only thing allowing us PC users to get DLC on time. We switch to Steam, a far-superior platform, and BAM! No more DLC.

Here's an idea, Microsoft! How about you make a version of GFWL that is as good (or better) as Steam? Crazy, I know.

I'm not seeing what the big deal is. This will just be like before. Exclusives are only temporary, the PC will get a delayed release. This is just a marketing holiday deal XBL set up. Sure twist vague statements or whatever, but to think they'd keep a major DLC on one platform forever is absurd. Use the past to predict the future

Reposting an honest question: Why is the DLC 360 exclusive, but not PC. What does MS have to gain from shunning PC users?

If I had a pc capable of running F:NV, I would have got it for PC (Laptop doesn't like playing games for more then 45mins)

If my xbox still worked (RRoD after repair :brokencomputer: ) , My choice would remain, PC

Since no pc capable of playing F:NV, Ps3 it is.

This would be a nice lesson to PC users. Now you get to see what we PS3 users have felt...

Not a lesson so much as a reminder of how spiteful people can be when they think someone is getting something they aren't.

The thing about PC users and this doesn't just go for quest based mods this goes for everything, all pc mods are free. how many new companions have console users gotten? none how many companions can PC users get? over 300. Yeah, again, mods are nowhere close to the same thing as official DLC. Apples and oranges. Not the same situation at all.

If I worked at Obsidian and Microsoft rang me up and said we will pay you alot of money to screw over one of the consoles I would take the money. (and I know most of you guys would)

First of all, Bethesda is making those deals, not Obsidian. Second, yes, business is business. It has nothing to do with screwing anybody. If you take things like this personally you're going to spend a lot of your life being personally offended. Business isn't about feelings, guys, it's about making money.

Everything. The PC is no longer using their distribution/achievement service (Games for Windows Live), but is rather using the competition, Steam.

Of course Microsoft wouldn't pause to consider what shafting the enemy would do. They're the enemy.

Never in a million years. I'm a PS3 and gaming PC owner. PC = Mods, deeper gameplay, better graphics/framerates and awesome prices thanks to Steam. Microsoft has a stronghold on how developers release DLC on the 360. Hence why there aren't any free updates for TF2 and L4D2. Yes I know there were no updates for TF2 on PS3 as well. But that's because Valve had they're noses in the air about the PS3 (ie: it's to hard). So they passed it off to EA and are still embarrassed by that version of the orange box and that decision. As you saw Valve came crawling back. If you look at the exclusives coming out for 360 it's understandable why Microsoft threw money at Bethesda for this DLC debacle.

At first, I was ticked off. Then, now I am not.

Guys, it really is just DLC that will only last you like what, 10 hours?
No big deal, the actual game is going to be worth so much more hours.
Get use to it, changes happen, but hell, DLC is DLC. Let microsoft be dirty money baggers.
Let time run it's course, all DLC's will sooner or later come to every system.
If it bugs you that much, go onto wiki just to see what you are missing. You'll be surprised, it won't be a lot.
