DLC Exclusive. Discussion Still Going

Post » Sat Jan 08, 2011 7:39 am

wait, is this confirmed Timed or is it Pure exclusive? If its pure I see a problem. A big one.

Not really but this post by Gstaff sort of points in that direction. Nobody can be sure. Past practice with Oblivion and Fallout:3 would also indicate it will be.

I want everyone to be clear on two things from the release that went out.

1) All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE. It'll be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE.
2) More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, I don't have any information to share. Again, we'll share more info in the coming weeks.

Harmonix PR Manager John Drake has revealed that a PSN-exclusive Rock Band PS3 DLC sale begins next week.

PS3 owners will be happy to see that they have put another feather in their cap, to join previous announcements of a Medal of Honor: Frontline PS3-exclusive remake and Dead Space: Extraction PS3 with Dead Space 2: Limited Edition, by revealing some Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood exclusives for PS3.

Mafia II isn't out for another month or so, but that's not stopping 2K Games from talking about DLC. Depending on your platform of choice, the next tidbit will either make you collapse to the floor in a happily sobbing mess or clench your jaw in pure fury.* The first of the two announced DLC packs will be available exclusively to the PS3 shortly after launch, and it won't cost players one thin dime.

all just for PS3 and this is only a few games

so stop complaining... and grow up

Well, since you asked.. What about Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2, Tomb Raider: Underworld - all of it exclusive to the 360 - then we have the timed exclusives like MW2, GTA 4, Oblivion (although not all of it appeared on the PS3) Fallout 3.

Now stop comparing..

As said DLC hit the same time for 360/PC........as for lost interest in FO3 PC have you looked at Nexus and how many more peeps have joined since FO3 came out

Yep and there are alot of mods being added all the time over on Nexus, wasnt till 3 or 4 months ago that I finally moded mine and added the DC lights as well as the tranquility lane home mod to give me more room to store my gear and a nicer place to live at.

You my dear are crusin' for a ban hammer brusin'. Don't flamebait.

That said, I don't see too many PC players to upset by it. At least I'm not. It's just a bit of added content that generally cost less than a full meal deal at McDonalds and has about the same amount of flavor. I'll take the filet mignon at the lodge thank you and they can keep their added burger.

Actually scratch that anology and make it dessert. After the filet I've no room for dessert and I don't even think most dlcs are as good as dessert.

Nope, I refuse to get uspet about this news until I see what the DLC is. For all I know it could be a DLC like for Mafia II that gives you the choice to pick which pre order pack you want to download. I could careless about that, now if its say a DLC adding a new area that I would really love to see like Area 51, well then get ready cause there will be alot of censorship on my posts about how I feel about that.

I feel like burning all of this in my fire-pit and posting the video on YouTube titled: "Fallout New Vegas - XBOX Exclusive DLC"

Should I burn it all...or is there another preferred method of destroying it?

My bad. The way I was reading your posts I took them as more one-sided. Sometimes it's hard to pick up on that type of implication on the intertubes. :foodndrink:

I agree with you. I guess the difference is that I don't expect companies to behave that way. When it comes down to it, if a company thinks that damage control when they behave badly is cheaper than behaving in a more consumer-oriented way they'll go ahead and opt for damage control. Fight Club comes to mind here. :D I fully expect companies to act in their best interest in every situation, and when that happens to also be in the consumer's best interest I'm pleasantly surprised.

Yes, but it's not how it SHOULD work, at all, nor is it the best business model to abide by at all. Look at how Valve does business; any add-on that they make they release for free, because their customers paid the full price of the product and therefore deserve the entire thing that they are purchasing. Nothing that they have added in is unobtainable through just the over the counter copy of the game or any add-ons provided you actually play the game, though the option to pay money to skip ahead has recently just been added it was made abundantly clear that it was never going to be the only way to obtain anything.

Yes, their games take a long time to get out into the market, but honestly, not a single one of their games was ever lauded as being a rushed out POS with huge bugs and glitches nor have they ever been accused of screwing their customers. In doing so, they release quality games that have a huge fan base and have enormous amounts of customer loyalty because everyone who buys a Valve game knows that they are getting a quality game and won't be getting milked through DLC. This, in turn, leads them to buy LOTS AND LOTS more Valve games.

I guess copying one of the most successful developers and publishers in the industry right now isn't pro tech though, huh?

In a perfect world my friend which we are far from.Yes I wish all DLC was made with the best intentions and was free but thats life. Its a shame we don't have more companies like Valve but hey the reason they don't charge for DLC is because they don't need to.

Didnt see the orignal post but this isnt in reply to lighthouse but who he quoted. Mafia II has been out for a while now there is already two DLC`s out with a third on the way. The first one was Jimmys Vendetta, the next was a DLC that allowed you to pick which pre order pack you wanted, and the next one in the works is a DLC letting you play as joe in those 6 years that you were in Jail between 1945 and 1951 and these DLC`s are not exclusive, I am learning about them through Steam on my PC under the news section when I click on my mafia II install.

Mafia 2- Jimmy's Betrayal IS a PS3 exclusive
Xbox 360 owners CANNOT get it
but they can have the next two
jimmys vendatta comes after the first but the xbox 360 owners will not get the first

i used this as an example only
there are tons exclusive to the PS3- i have a PS3
and tons exclusive to the xbox 360- i have an xbox 360

so what!! the world is Not coming to an end

sony is no diffrent than microsoft
so complaining about one over the other is ....

Would you have bought it for the 360 instead if you had known in advance? lol, I certainly can wait another month and don't care if they can play it before I can.

Probably, but "they" didn't tell me that till the day before, and my copy is already paid off. Don't know if the GameStop will have an extra collectors addition on the 360? I doubt it. :sadvaultboy: I'm just saying this was done shady. Beth deserves all the feedback they are getting on this.

Yeah, what did I say? Your anology is also flawed, a more appropriate one would be; "Well, at least they told me where they were gonna shoot me and asked me if I would like to leave, before they actually did it."

Considering the fact that I've already paid in full for something I no longer want, not really, no. Even if I return it, and the store accepts it, I either pay return shipping, or drive an hour, and either way, I'm still out initial shipping costs.

For me that has nothing to do with it.I am upset that PS3 got some DLC for games I like exclusively but in the end I just accepted it and went on to enjoy the game.

damn scumbags, I'll just buy it used from Gamestop or pirate it since you asses wanna be greedy

Funny. You call them greedy but threaten to pirate it. "I'm going to take your hard work and give you nothing in return simply because I won't get one single add-on that may very well be worthless."

I'm annoyed(unless A:The DLC is timed[limiting sales=bad business!] and or B:The DLC is small), but I'm surprised at how mad some people are. "can crawl in a hole and die"- forum user on: Bethesda.

Was there DLC for FO3 for 360 that wasn't PC as well? I don't remember that  but I do remember the crappy time some of us PC peeps had with GFWL :bonk:

Not true. I do own a 360, yes, but I rarely buy games for it when there's a PC version available. I bought the PC version of New Vegas, so I won't be getting this 360-exclusive DLC. That said, companies playing favorites with business partners is nothing new and I'm not surprised by it. I don't like it, but it's how business works sometimes, so I'm going to roll my eyes and move on rather than allow it to affect my life...at all.

Funny. You call them greedy but threaten to pirate it. "I'm going to take your hard work and give you nothing in return simply because I won't get one single add-on that may very well be worthless."

I don't hate Xbox, but I don't think it's fair they should get it first. We are all Fallout fans and shouldn't we be treated equally? I purchased they game and expect the same experience as everyone else and the same level of support. I pretty much said the same thing a year or so ago, but was obviously foolish to think things had changed. With only two days left till I get the game my excitement level has gone down quite a bit because of this news.

Nope, the DLC's were available for all platforms, but some came out for the PC before the 360, etc
