DLC Exclusive

Post » Fri Dec 03, 2010 9:50 am

Someone from Beth just posted this at GAF:

"Keep in mind that we've only announced that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox Live, to be released this holiday season. We've got more announcements to make soon."

LOL

I feel like they are trying to say that the PS3 will eventually get dlc, but once again they like the money from Microsoft more than thanking the PS3 owners as well for buying their game, so they can't actually say anything yet.

This isn't to slight PS3 owners but I'm more disappointed that when Microsoft obtain privileges for DLC that the PC platform isn't included in the same deal.

Without the PC there would be no Microsoft really - PC is where the made their money and from which they eventually financed production of the Xbox.

Shameful given that Microsoft recently said the PC was still really important to them and that they intend to keep supporting it - http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101550-Microsoft-Pledges-to-Save-PC-Gaming-Again.

This isn't about this DLC planned for FO:NV specifically for me nor is it a snub to PS3 users - just expressing my feelings about how Microsoft's actions seem to be at odds with what they say when it comes to the PC and the fact that they owe the PC big time imo.

Im just wondering if its a timed exclusive or if the content will be completely exclusive to Xbox.

While his corpspeek is of course fairly vague, it does seem to read that the Very First DLC will be only for XBox, forever.

I want everyone to be clear on two things from the release that went out.

1) All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE. It'll be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE.
2) More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, I don't have any information to share. Again, we'll share more info in the coming weeks."-Gstaff.

While as a PC player this ticks me just a bit, I am too excited to get my hands on this game to spend too much time dwelling on some small DLC that I can't have instant gratification with on Christmas day. I doubt I will have done all the quests in FO:NV by Christmas much less done a second playthrough. I've many miles to travel and no time to sleep in FO:NV.

I don't care much about 5-hours-of-gameplay DLCs, if I can play New Vegas for +300 hours. Honestly, I'll buy F:NV to support Obsidian in the first place and this is not their decision.

The game is out tomorrow, so...guys, enjoy the game and support the devs & Bethesda

I think Bethesda should look at this.

One of the community managers posted in the first thread so they are aware of it.

This will blow over by tomorrow hopefully.

I'm just glad I can finally justify my xbox purchase again, I was getting sad about not being able to afford a decent PC.

Pffffffffffffffft. I've got coffee, cigs, who the hell needs sleep?! A dozen playthroughs by XMas at least. Maybe a Bakers Dozen. In hardcoe Mode, on Very Hard, through 13 feet of snow uphill both ways. That's just how I roll yo.

Yeah, I'm not liking it, but I'm still getting the game, I'm irritated, not insane.

I am really tired of microsoft doing this and bethesda allowing it but, i hope the "timed" exclusive cause it will come to ps3 eventually bethesda won't say that i know. I am sure it will be patched after xbox finds out how many bugs and glitches are in it thanks for the beta trial xbox :P

this was a deal struck with Xbox(live?) to gain some kind of competitive edge this holiday season. Thats what it seems like. ("excuse me Mr Bethesda, could we strike up a deal to give the Xbox network some kind of exclusive content this holiday?")

I have a feeling it will be similar to the "classic pack" or somesuch, rather than a full-blown "Point Lookout" expansion DLC - no way have they had time to write something like that yet. And if so... what's the problem?

Look, it's what.. end of October now? So in just over a month some DLC content is coming out for Xbox. Come on, you won't even be halfway through your first playthrough by then, possibly.

Enjoy your game tommorow/friday, and just forget about DLCs for a few weeks. It will all become clear and they may even announce some other DLC content that is exclusive to the PS3.

Well I guess this is true come Christmas I doubt that I will have started my second playthrough either.

Look at it this way. XBoxers handle the beta testing of the DLC. Once the rest of us get it, it'll be patched and shiny - and we'll know whether or not it's even worth getting. Everybody wins. :P

What like how the Fallout 3 DLC on the PS3 had no bugs at all in it. Oh wait it was more buggy than the 360 version

Not to mention, in all likelyhood the initial DLCs will be the Preorder Bonus Starter Packs. So either you got the Starter Pack you wanted to begin with, or you're not that bothered by not having said Starter Pack.

Either way, it's nothing to get worked up about.

So....they completely ignored the backlash when it was just the PS3 fans getting ditched. Right. Then they must've decided it would be a good idea to ditch both the PS3 fans AND the PC fans. Flawless logic. If there is some sort of legit reason for this they better tell us.

EDIT: But there's the possibility that this "DLC" is something small and basically worthless. They did say it's only the first DLC that's exclusive to LIVE.

i don't think the DLC will be a massive extension of the game like the 5 DLC's for FO3 where. it will probably be a couple of guns or some armour or maybe a single new quest. Just something small that Bethesda wont spend much time creating.

if Bethesda made a DLC with Tons of new weapons, armour and a whole load of quests, then they would be biting the hand that feeds them (so to speak) angering you fans is not good business seance.

so calm down people.

please? for me?

That's the other thing I don't want Bethesda making anything for this game. I want Obsidian to do all the DLC. I just wish it wasn't exclusive so we wouldn't alienate anyone in the New Vegas Family. :sadvaultboy:

At least they announced it before release, not after. That would of been a right slap in the face.

No kidding. They just announced some vague DLC that'll be exclusive to the Xbox for the Holiday Season, and people are acting like Bethesda's holding out a huge chunk of the game on them.

Operation: Anchorage and Horse Armor are your metersticks for DLC here people. There's nothing to get overly excited about (Unless you really want Horse Armor, I suppose).

Well, I only have a PS3, and my computer can't handle the game I don't think (it might, on low res). So my options are limited. I just want to know why Bethesda seems to enjoy sullying their name to fans of TWO of the THREE platforms (one being a very aggressive and vengeful group, PC) and seemingly penalizing them for not owning the console of Bethesda's choice. I'm sure it will be timed exclusive, but these kinds of deals need to stop.

I particularly find it irritating that they waited until mere hours before the game actually comes out to speak up. It's like they KNOW they are going to catch flak, so to minimize the blow, they kinda sneak it in AFTER everyone has already more or less "comitted" to buying the game. Pretty shady.

:/ I just want to play the game, but this still bothers me.

SAY NO to "exclusive" and "timed exclusive" DLC!!!

Well this is not Fallout 3 DLC we're talking about, is it?

The exclusivity could (this is a wild goose chase, of course) mean something platform specific (xbox being the lead platform, getting the first one) - that all platforms eventually get the same extra content, with the respective platform specific tweaks (what ever they could be). Just a thought though.
