Continue the discussion but lets be civil about it.

"I want everyone to be clear on two things from the release that went out.

1) All we announced is that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox LIVE. It'll be available this holiday season through Xbox LIVE.
2) More details about plans for additional content will be released in the coming weeks.

Beyond that, I don't have any information to share. Again, we'll share more info in the coming weeks."-Gstaff.

I really, really hope that PC gets the DLC at the same time. Seeing as the PC modding community has been such a source of strength for Bethseda games, it'd be criminal to see PC users get gypped like this. The amazingly dedicated modding community is what turned games like Oblivion and FO3 from great games into amazing games.

Besides, since Microsoft owns both the Xbox brand and the PC brand, what reason is there to release it exclusively for Xbox and not on PC at first?

At least the DLC will be coming quickly, I guess...:\

And look the PC users are rescued half way down the river because they have MODS.

Without modders, no mods. If many people are disappointed about this and decide to not buy the PC game, we'll miss out on modders and thus on mods. If this goes wrong, it goes wrong for us all.

I very highly doubt that. Whatever the DLC will be, the way GStaff's post is written, it will be only for XBox, forever. And I highly doubt that a combined DLC of the pre-order fluff would be it.

Not for PC, or PS3, ever. Not very cool, this trend has been showing up a lot lately, and I think it's pretty chintzy. As a player, regardless of my platform of choice (PC for me), I want the opportunity to experience all of the official content.

Again based on what facts? I cite the most recent http://www.avaultpodcast.com/ in which Pete Hines speaks Directly to this issue. Listen in if you don't believe, but they speak Specifically about doing something with the pre-order packs. If you have better facts, please share them.

In actual fact Bethesda, again according to the same source, gets complaints about the pre-order packs and Pete even takes a beating from the reviewer over the fact that once sold-out, the pre-order content is locked forever from those that might want it. I would argue; What a Better way to give MIcrosoft an exclusive content deal that Didn't Really Matter to the game as a whole? Makes Microsoft happy as they get to sell something exclusive and feel good about themselves, while the people that really play and know the game won't give a damn about 1st level equipment after Nov 1st (or sooner).

So coming at this from the facts and Not assuming Bethesda is some evil beast, I stand by my GECKulations.

Look at it this way. XBoxers handle the beta testing of the DLC. Once the rest of us get it, it'll be patched and shiny - and we'll know whether or not it's even worth getting. Everybody wins. :P

No autocensor bypassing or you will be warned.
No console/platform bashing.
No personal attacks or name calling.
No calling folks a troll
No gloating over getting something exclusive as it could be viewed as flamebaiting.

The moderators are very busy today so don't push them to lock this discussion for good or to give you a warning and a suspension of your posting abilities. :toughninja:

I am doubting that ALL the modders will stray from modding to simply play 360.

To all the people who say "oh, only the first DLC will be exclusive" or "the first DLC will be a collection of preorder packs/an XBL avatar/", I just want to say that I want to believe you're right, but I don't think so.

While you can read that interpretation from Gstaff's post, Gstaff's post isn't conclusive either way. If the other DLCs are xbox exclusive as well, his post would still be completely accurate - After all, he never said anything about any other release, just the first one.

As for the DLC being something trivial... I doubt it, because it wouldn't be much of a selling point if it was.

I think Bethesda should look at this. This is the 3rd thread now all the others reached the max. Its obvious something needs to be done so to calm down all of us ticked off people.

I would love to hear a reason from Bethesda as to why the 1st DLC was made for the 360 and not for all 3 systems. I like Bethesda its a great company that makes really awesome games, Oblivion, Fallout 3, but why would they shut out half the people out of DLC I just don't get it. I'm still getting New Vegas regardless of this issue I waited 3+months if not longer for this game and I'm going to get it at midnight.

Someone from Beth just posted this at GAF:

"Keep in mind that we've only announced that the first DLC will be exclusive to Xbox Live, to be released this holiday season. We've got more announcements to make soon."

Not gonna ragequit or cancel anything.. still hoping that the timed exclusivity won't be as long as the case was with Fallout3 and that it only affects the first pack and not all, as with F3... but I'm not holding my breath.

Just amused by those who think delayed dlc is no big deal... "it will reach all platforms eventually"... well, I can certainly say that the delay took away most of the enjoyment I could've had with the dlc for Fallout3 and GTA4 for example. When the packs finally arrived, they had been reviewed, spoiled and regurgitaded in every podcast and gaming board that I frequently visit.

Seriously, this generation has been plagued by console/retailer exclusive dlc and it's got to stop. Sure, it might give short term sales boosts, but also creates badwill that can carry on into the next generation of consoles.

They said the same thing about the FO3 DLC - it was even worse on the PS3 - lockups galore, graphical glitches, items disappearing.

Trust me they are - Nick Breckon is active in this thread as are summer and the other moderators. Anything we say that is Actually of merit will get read and forwarded to the appropriate people.

Believe it or not, those active in these forums have more voice with Bethesda than most do - as they actually Do read and respond here actively.

Yes, this is a good idea.

I posted two minutes before Colonel. :shifty:

Back on topic I'm saddened that the community is being torn apart due to corporate greed. :sadvaultboy:

I am very aggravated that this has already made people cancel pre-orders, leave the forum, and all around give an outer scope on what people are like. Thankfully the good ones are stepping forward and trying to resolve this.
