DLC Suggestions #4

Post » Tue May 10, 2011 3:31 pm

I would like NOT to have level cap increased. I rather whoever doing the DLCs focus on the game world, quest, character and new items.

I like to see the Level increase to 50 with perks. I like to have trillion of patches for now and future DLC. I like to see having more than 2 followers with the player. I like chance to locate Area 51. And I like to see that all free form quests are added to to the pipboy so i'm not wondering all over the place searching for things.

That be for 360, PS3, and PC

Burned Man DLC including the cut companion Ulysses that increases the level cap to 40 but introduces a whole new bunch of overpowering new enemies.

Area 51 DLC with a whole bunch of energy weapons and other stuff

The Return Of the Enclave DLC basically its pretty much a rogue Enclave Scientist wants to restore the Enclave to its glory days and you need to stop him.

Edited- How about the return of the Gifted Trait

Burned Man DLC with Ulysses and without level cap increase.

Yeah, it would be nice to have a place full of pre-war tech, for my nerd character :tops:

But Return of the enclave sounds pretty boring and cliche :P

A DLC where you will scour the wastes in search of components to make your very own http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/images/dpv_lsvbugg.jpg B)

Apart from that I'd love to see a DLC which allows the player to continue after the main quest where the Lucky 38 can be transformed into a fully functional casino (belonging to you ofcourse) and all kinds of crazy stuff would happen afterwards (some mysterious guest robbing you blind with some hidden cardcounting gimmicks or whatever) :)

Oh! And Area 51, where the player learns of secret government experiments and dead aliens in jars. And suddenly you hear lots of noise outside and there's this giant Mothership Omega with deathrays and aliens out to kill you! Then you have to fight off these aliens, dress up like one and gain access to the ship in order to disable it :P

I agree. But I also sympathize with him in that I want some clean bad guys in heavy armor. Maybe a new group!

Or the Brotherhood of Steel turning the jerkiness dial up to 11.

What I would like is a DLC for the PC.

I suppose it's finally official: PC gamers are second class.

Running along the Wasteland today, I came across something rather interesting.
The Northern Passage?
It is currently blocked off, but it sure does spark the imagination. Can't wait to see what DLC that brings.

Time for me to suggest what I want most again:

hardcoe Mode +1

  • H20, SLP and FOD meters go up three times as fast.
  • Radiation intake is tripled (Or maybe just x2.5)
  • Doctor Bags cost 500 caps
  • Doctors cost 500 caps to heal your health, radiation or addiction level. (Doc Mitchell will do all three for 250 caps but only heal limbs to 50% and only remove half the radiation)
  • If you don't meet the weapons soft requirement then you're going to sway alot more and reload slower despite your Agility stat if you don't meet it.
  • If you don't meet the Strength Requirement then reload speed should be much more slower than it currently is, weapons sway more and recoil is like crazy.
  • Caps have weight.
  • Healing items (Chems and stimpacks) have weight.
  • Repair vendors charge twice as much as they currently do.
  • Weapon mods' price is increased by five times.
  • Ammo weight is tripled (excluding missiles which already have a ridiculous 3 weight.)

And then hardcoe Mode +2
All of the above but also with:
  • No fast-travel.

I'll update it later if I can think of other things to add.

A single-shot .45-70 sniper rifle based on a Sharps or a Winchester High-Wall with a old-style barrel mounted scope. Classify it as a lever action...technically correct...to make it qualify for the Cowboy perk.

More music....and the option to take over Black Mountain radio after certain quests and install your own DJ and even add your own music.

Legion Gladiator DLC

I’ve added a bit more to my Legion Gladiator DLC idea.

It’s a bit of a Gladiator / Spartacus thing. The Courier is captured during a Legion raid for slaves and is taken to a Ludus (gladiator school) in “Legion City”. The Courier has to survive gladiator training then work out how to escape in between fighting in the arena.

For convenience I am calling the Courier him, please no “your being sixists” comments.

The Courier is approached by a temporary companion (TC) to help him with a problem near the Mojave / Legion border. When they get there the Courier falls ill and TC takes the Courier to an abandon shack. During this time the Courier is falling in and out of consciousness so the Courier only remembers a few things.

- TC telling him that he needs a doctor and that he is going to get help, there is food and water beside you and I have stashed your equipment under a hidden trap door under your bed.

- Some crashing (the door being broken in) and a legionary standing over him saying “It looks almost dead should I kill it?” With an unseen voice saying “Check with the slave master first”

- Unseen voices talking Medicus / Slave “Dominus I think he will live, he’s over the worst of the fever and we should be able to move him in two days.” Dominus “Why bother he looks dead anyway?” Medicus “He’s a fighter. That fever should have killed him, when he recovers he will be worth a lot of money to you. Plus we are using this place as a base camp so me getting him on his feet will not inconvenience you.”

- Medicus crouching over him talking softly “I have bought you a couple of days so if you have friends coming for you I hope they will be here soon, and I hope there is a lot of them for there will need to be if they want to rescue you.” (The Medicus used to be Joshua Graham’s aka Burned Man personal physician and friend, but when Joshua Graham lost the Hover Dam battle the Medicus was sold into slavery)

The Courier comes to but is still weak and has his hands manacled and a slave collier put on him. The Medicus comes up to him and says “If you want to live do not fall down, if you do they will kill you.” The trip to the ludus is all a blur mostly looking at the back of the slave in front of him.

For a female Courier she would get a different initial dialog to a male from the owner of the ludus, something like, “I see you have a few scares, the scares of a fighter, some men pay a lot of money to see a woman fight, and there are men who buy women who will not do as they are told just so they can break them. So you have two choses which is one more then most slaves, you can do as you are told and learn to be a gladiator or I can sell you on to a master who will enjoy breaking you.”

Also if the courier is working for Caesar (or still on good terms) one of Caesar’s bodyguards comes to the ludus and tells the courier that it was fortuitus that he was captured for this ludus as Caesar has a new job for him, and that is to gain the trust of the Medicus and help him escape so he can lead you to the Burned Man.

This plot would have appeal to both players that like to play a melee / unarmed character and players that use ranged weapons. For melee / unarmed players there will be a lot of that style of game play in the arenas and for ranged players there is the challenge of mastering a different style of game play. Also in the arena the Courier will be given different types of weapons and armour for each bout.

Note – as the character’s equipment is hidden in the abandon shack the equipment will not be lost and can be retrieved after the character has escaped the legion.
- As the plot takes place deep in Legion territory and Caesar is at Fortification Hill it should not interfere with the main plot.

Northern Passage Idea-

An explosion is echoed throughout the entire mojave wasteland, and a pillar of smoke arises from the north, you decide to go investigate what has happened.
The rocks which had blocked the area off were now blown to bits and strewn about the area. Upon entering the cave, you meet up with a faction, but they are not like any ones you've seen. Wearing much more advanced armor, and wielding unseen weapons, they drag you off deeper down the cave.

At the end of the cave, you are introduced to a new city, a large one at that, that is currently undergoing a war for full power of the city itself.

Some Other Things I Would Like to See Included in a DLC.

First of all some tweaks to some of the quests, some just felt unfinished. Three examples are Left My Heart, How Little We Know and Bye Bye Love.

Left My Heart – At the end when you free the family it felt like “New Vegas is that way you should get there in a day or two if you don’t get eaten.” The least you could do is offer to escort them, and it’s more then likely you have moved into the Lucky 38 by then, you could offer them work as your housekeepers.

How Little We Know / Bye Bye Love – Helping Cachino take over the Gomorrah felt like replacing two rats with a snake and after talking to Joana confirmed it. I would have liked to double cross Cachino and install Carlitos and Joana as the new management. But it has left possibilities for a Quest in a post final battle DLC Cachino or Nero try to take over New Vegas.

A side quest in tribute to Steve Erwin aka The Crocodile Hunter (in good taste of course). It would of course be called the Gecko Hunter.

Last of all (for the moment) are some ammunition recipes using BBs. One suggestion would be a homemade version of glaser safety rounds. For eg. the 0.22LR replace some of the lead with 3 BBs using a high repair skill. They would do a lot more damage to unarmoured targets then hollow points but less to armoured targets.
Also be able to convert cases that you don’t use any more into shrapnel.

I think it would be awesome if they had a DLC in CO, there are so many options. Putting a Brotherhood base at the present site of NORAD, fighting or helping the legion based on how you ended the main quest, the continuation of casinos in a few cities and the addition of new fations, and a whole lot of new creatures that they could add based on the vast variety of animals they have in the Rocky Mountains.

I'd like more factories and buildings that are more then a few rooms.

An area that has wide open space with much less quick travel spots. You could join different tribes and either unite them, help one dominate the rest or kill them all.

A prequel for the Courier. The main character is almost completely missing backstory. The courier has to have gotten training and survival skills from someowhere before being hired to transport the chip. As you level him/her, you are basically relearning some of what you already knew before getting shot by Benny.

No.

The choice to not include a backstory was intentional, and a good call. Not having a backstory allows far more freedom to play the character you want (...it is a role playing game, after all). Further, it prevents a fail backstory from being foisted onto you. The Fallout 3 backstory was just fail of the most epic proportions.

A kid wanders out of a vault looking for daddy, and suddenly has the combat skills to kill hardened murderers and mutants? How exactly can a kid with no training or armor be expected to take the wasteland head on? Yes, I know it's a video game, but this stretch is just too much. The bad ass wasteland warrior feeling Fallout 3 gave you was undermined by almost every line of the awful, awful dialogue and story that forces you to behave like a child lost in the mall looking for a parent. Leaving it open ended allows you to actually answer the question of how you can handle yourself in a fight in your own way.

...but I digress. Anyways! DLC ideas:

-Nothing huge, just widen the map out and add more locations and towns that have quests, companions, and lore up to par with the rest of the game. Bigger is better when it comes to quality content.

-Area 51, but with no aliens... it turns out Area 51 is where the president kept his sixbots hidden from his wife.

-More and better casinos. We got ripped off! No craps? No poker? Seriously? Epic fail, Obsidian.

Oooo. More weapon mods please. I find it odd that there is a limit to how many mods you can put on weapons (three) but almost all weapons only have one or two mods available.

I want a fully-modded Assault Carbine! A vertical grip and reflex sight to be precise. Also it couldn't hurt to make an underslung grenade launcher for the Service Rifle. Have it set so it can fire 40mm grenades as simply another ammo type the weapon accepts.

What I would really like to see is more companions. I don't know about you, but companions greatly enhance the fun of replaying the game for me. Having Boone as a companion in a NCR run is greatly different from having the totally insane Lily in a Legion run. Also I feel like there are quite a few companions already present that would make a good companion. For example Vulpes Inculta. Doesn't do much besides standing in Caesar's tent anyway, and when he was announced as one of the first New Vegas characters I really thought he would be a companion. Also Sunny Smiles and Benny would make good companions. Doing the Yes Man road together with Benny seems like a load of fun.

Also Fantastic seems like a great companion to me, a totally clueless guy that manages to build a scientific career within the NCR deserves some praise in my book.

But first and foremost I'd like to be able to have more than one companion. I'm on PS3 so I can't use console commands to do it. I can imagine some companions not getting along well (Boone and Veronica, NCR and BoS) for example. But really, why can't I take Raul and Cass with me as an awesome cowboy trio?

In FO3 there were also some great potential followers in the DLC that were left untouched, like Wernher in The Pitt, Desmond in PL and Paulson in Zeta. Seriously, why couldn't you have Paulson join you? He has taken revenge on the aliens, has no place to call home and is going down to roam the wastes. Just come with me plz.

Oh and normally I'd like some new revolvers but there are already some awesome revolvers in NV so that's a job very well done on the part of Obsidian.

Edit: Last one! Let me take my follower to DLC's please. I got the reason for not having them come to The Pitt and Anchorage and I could understand the reasoning behind Zeta, but Point Lookout? Tobar says "I don't do group trips". What a sorry excuse.

Er.. compare a 40mm round and a 5.56 round in size. That last idea wouldn't work out well.

I think he meant that to switch to the under-barrel grenade launcher you switch to 40mm by hitting the ammo change button.

I think it's genius and a $10 answer to a $1,000 question.
