Drinking

I also like Smirnoff Ice.

I actually just bought some of that the other day. It wasn't bad. Kind of like a Mt. Dew/Sprite -ish taste with an extra kick.

Mum lets me have wine on holidays, and a beer if I just got done with some brutal yard work.

I'm under-aged.

I used to drink frequently, as I became of age I abused the sauce pretty heavily and was probably a risk for alcoholism. Late high school and early university was like an every day party especially university which had a bar in the school that opened at 10 am. Eventually I started getting a reaction from alcohol, or an ingredient in it... no matter what I drank I'd get hot and itchy... this progressed to the point where my tongue would swell. I then became a risk for full on Anaphylactic shock. I was advised by doctors just to avoid alcohol altogether because it was getting progressively worse. I've been alcohol free for a number of years now, don't miss it much and now realize I was heading towards a destructive path.

Since this a drinking thread, do you guys have any "cures" for hangovers the day after? I always feel soo terrible and have to throw up every 30 min. It feels like my hangovers are way worse than any others, I can't even keep my food. Usually I'll be sitting hours infront of the TV with a blanket and a warm cup of tea with some painkillers after I wake up.. and wait for my body to cleanse me.

I'm a light guy and when the occasions when you drink more than you think you can handle happens, so does this ^

I am British and am currently living in Scotland. If that doesn't answer the question I don't know what does.

The most I have drunk is 21 units in 10 minutes, I then spend the next half hour throwing up and then was carried home (apparently). I tend not to drink cheap (< £20 for 70cl) spirits unless already wasted and normally drink ales and I appreciate good whisky.

The first paragraph explains the second one :P

I'm similar to you, in that I don't drink cheap...if I'm gonna do it, I do it properly!

21 units in 10mins is insane! I can almost match it though...I went to a pool party in the summer and took a bottle of tequila, as well as some beers, ciders and Jagermeister. I met a girl there who was fit as anything who also had tequila. We started out with drinking games, having it with the salt and lemon etc, but after 15mins or so we were just swigging from our bottles and talking...once they'd been finished off, we split the bottle of Jager (had it as bombs with red bull), then started dancing and kissing by the pool...then we both passed out and fell in! Another girl there was a trained lifeguard and pulled us out >_<

That's the quickest I've ever got myself wasted...and I regret nothing :)

EDIT: @Erginho - I have one that never fails. Get a pot of full fat cream (I use Elmlea), 2 bananas and a drop of honey...blend together into a smoothie (ice optional) and voila...it's not the healthiest, but alcohol leeches potassium from you, so the bananas replace that. The cream and honey have a reason for helping too. My mum saw it on a TV show once and, like I said, it always works.

I drink every weekend. Most of the time I'm drinking vodka mixed with raspberry juice and can easily put down a handle in about 2 hours. There are some times when I prefer to have spiced rum or beer when I'm not planning on hitting the clubs.

As for a good story.... Well I don't remember what happened that night, but I woke up covered in peanut butter and wearing a football helmet on sunday morning.

Dehydration is the main thing that will cause hangovers to last longer and feel worse than they otherwise would. If you're at the end of a night of heavy drinking try to drink a lot of water before going to sleep/passing out. Once you wake up again drink a lot of water, and the worst of the hangover should subside in a few hours (or at least enough that you can get some food down and be somewhat functional). Another trick is to set your alarm for much earlier than you'd otherwise plan to get up, again drink some water, and go back to sleep for several more hours (letting your body recover a bit while you're blissfully asleep).

That sounds pretty good! Might try making that one time.

I can't recall drinking alot during hangovers, so that might be one of the problems. Thanks for the tips! :)

I'm the same way, as in, I usually hate the taste of beer. I tried Guinness one time and really liked it, whereas everyone I know seems to really hate it.

I'd also like to add Cider. I love Cider.

I have had Guinness quite a few times, and I find it to be decent. The ones I've liked the most are Canadian Molson, Red Stripe, and a few of Samuel Adams' holiday brews. Hard cider is definitely quite good, I've had Woodchucks and Strongbow, both of which I really like. Typically when I drink, I have mixed drinks or just shots of liquor. My favorite mixed drink is an Irish Car Bomb, which is Guinness, Jameson, and Baily's.

I do like to drink but it wasn't always so. When I first turned 21 I really hadn't drank anything and couldn't stand the taste of anything with alcohol in it except for the most watered down drinks.

Over the years I've developed a taste for beer and wine and lost some taste for a couple of hard drinks that I was drinking.

If I drink anything hard now it has to be good quality otherwise I won't like it and it will just sit in the fridge forever like captain morgan tattoo. That stuff is gawd awful and has turned me off to most rum and I just get sick thinking about drinking it.

I personally can't stand Canadian, but I actually kind of like Kokanee(for a beer). As for mixed drinks I still have to go with either the Vodka Coke or Vodka Cran. I also like Jager Bomb's, I took a first year apprenticeship of a trade in college and after the last day the whole class had a party at one of the guys' apartments. We all had a Jager Bomb that was almost pure Jager...that was strong.

Same, I drink it if there isn't anything else or all that is on tap is local stuff that tastes bad.

Yes I was a drinking alcoholic for many years. Clean and sober since 2008. I have not touched it since then and don't really think about it much now. I got pretty bad off for a long wasted portion of my life however.

I don't drink as much as I used to (my decision). My favourite alcoholic beverage, apart from beer, was Jack Daniels with coke. I don't care that you don't like it - it tastes good to me (just a precaution, since someone WILL mention this).
