Drinking

Post » Fri Dec 09, 2011 10:46 pm

I drink a little bit, but always responsibly (I set a limit for myself before I even start), and almost always with friends. I've never had enough in my system to do anything overly stupid, which is completely fine with me.

Yuengling's Black and Tan is my poison of choice usually. Excellent beer. I've been known to have a shot of Jagermeister every once in a while too.

I absolutely love beer. Liquor on the other hand is a whole other story. I usually get a nauseous feeling for a bit after the first couple shots. It kinda svcks, but after more alcohol I forget all about it. Something about smoking a ton of tobacco and drinking lots makes me feel good, like a hazy, drowsy, relaxed feeling throughout my body. The next morning though, screw that.

Edit: How many times have you told yourself you'll never drink again the next morning?

I do drink, but the last time I was drunk was over a year ago when I guess I had too much and blacked out. Currently I'll just have the occasional beer with dinner or whenever in the evening. Don't really have one favorite beer, but of what I've tried so far I know that I don't care for Bud, Coors or Guiness(my room mates thought I was crazy when I told them that).

Don't drink as much hard stuff, but I do like rum and ginger ale though. Vodka is meh. I remember doing shots with some friends, they do one, make a face and they're done. I do one and was ready for another, didn't taste like anything. Maybe we weren't drinking the right vodka, I think it was some kind of Smirnoff.

I typically only drink once a month or less. Going to college obviously opens up many opportunities for me to drink, but I don't really enjoy it all that much. Sometimes I'll have a beer or mixed drink with my meal at a restaurant, but I hardly ever drink just to get drunk. Besides, I pretty much hate the taste of all beer that I have tried.

At least several. Oddly enough, drinking or lack thereof wasn't really mentioned after my recent health embuggerence in terms of preventing it happening again. Curious, that.

I used to say that as well, you will come across one eventually that will win you over. ;)

I've thrown up so much while drunk that the second vodka hits my tongue I gag. Gin I have absolutely no problem with and love with a passion.

I usually stick to beer though.. it makes me less schizophrenic I find.

I like the occasional drink here and there. Maybe some Jack and coke.

And you know you've reached a certain limit of drunkness when all beer tastes like water.

I can't stand alcohol, and think all drinkers are idiots. I've never touched a drop and never will.

I'd always had you down as tee-total.

Oh, ahem, please excuse me, I think I just sniggered at... er, an old joke I just randomly remembered. Nothing to do with the subject at hand. :whistling:

My other half likes gin. It seems gin drinkers are surprisingly picky; well, to someone who thinks "gin? That's kind of like meths, isn't it?" Anyway, we seem to have those big blue square bottles of it, Bombay Sapphire, I think.

Bombay is lovely. My OH loves Hendricks which I hate with a passion. My favourite though is Tanquery but it's not cheap.... :(

Scratch what I said about not liking spirits, people talking gin have reminded me that I love Sloe Gin/a Bramble cocktail. Fairly sure I should just hand m testicles over now, but w/e.

I'm not familiar with them, but I just had a sniff of the Bombay stuff and I have to admit that the aroma of juniper is lovely.

Wine to accompany some meals. Sometimes it'll be microbrewery beers to accompany "heavier" meals (Strong cheese, meat).

And of course, when clubbing, a bottle or two to start the evening and then I stop. Being dead drunk is a feeling I liked a couple of years ago...not anymore. I prefer to stay at the "Hey, that alcohol is starting to take effect!" state. :whistling:

Now, I realised I love beer that actually tastes something, mostly belgian beers (No, not Stella Artois, please) or otherwise strong beer (7-9%), from local breweries. I developed a taste for wine, the trick is to identify the kind of graqe that you like and go for it.

My brother, who also lives in Sherbrooke, is a regular at Boquébière. Next time I visit him, I'll have to visit the place.
Otherwise in Montreal, Brutopia and Saint-Boque are my favourite places for trying new beers. Such as one with a faint maple syrup taste.

I've never really given gin a chance. Any suggestions on how to prepare a good gin-based drink for a gin newbie?

Do you drink?

Yes, but only on rare/special occasions

My drink of choice is The Macallan.
Late cool nights, reclined beneath a fleece throw, latest book in hand, this precious 12yr old single malt Scotch whisky breathing in a crystal tumbler, pecan tree rustling outside the window, swamp life chorus din in the background... :read:

The Macallan is part of my reading experience, not something I drink. The difference is palpable.

So it's basically a step up from Heineken.

One can rarely go wrong with Belgian beer. In a certain sense.

I was actually talking about Heineken with an American guy lately, while having a beer after class. Told him I think it tastes like piss. He replied that that may be true, but it is still better than most American beers :P.

If I'm short on cash I usually drink Brand or Jupiler, but I prefer beers like Palm or Duvel. I am not very familiar with alcoholic drinks that are not beer (not that I know very much about beer, but more than about other drinks at least), but I found that I really like Jameson and Hennessy. I guess that I'd like some other whiskeys or cognacs as well, but I never really got around to trying. I rarely drink, only when I am out with friends and even then I never drink much.
