So I have been here since the hype for Skyrim and I was all pumped up! But I went on the forums everyday to see at least like 7 people complaining that Oh the graphics could have been better, Oh the gameplay looks horrible and blah blah blah! it turned out to be one of my favorite games and so many others and the ones who complained lost out. So why are you hating on the elder scrolls online? Like really? *sigh* seems like Bethesda cant do nothin right these days...

I actually find Skyrim is a great game... I was a little disappointed about the thing that came off from the series .. like the custom magic system.
This game is just not TES

Yeah, TES is the single player open world sandbox RPG experience. Explore a whole strange new world, be anyone you want to be, do anything you want to do. Add in some lovely mods and roleplay and you've got yourself thousands of hours of gameplay.

What I have seen of the game so far does not suggest it can keep up to that par.

The source of my ire is how much the gameplay has departed from what we know and love to be Elder Scrolls.

In the Game Informer article, I looked actively for a single instance of a developer saying something anywhere close to the following:

This is a feature that we don't think has been done before in the MMO space, and we think Elder Scrolls players are going to be very excited to see it.

And I never found it. If nothing new is being offered from a gameplay standpoint, why should I bother?

In business terms, what is ES:O's order winner? I see plenty of order qualifiers (quests, a backstory, PVP combat, an MMO combat system, a fast travel system, a ressurrection system...), but what is actually going to win my sale against other competitive forces? The Elder Scrolls name alone isn't enough.

To give critisim and allow Zenimax to see that doing something like this is foolish, also to discuss it. I'd be happily convinced to play if it were good. Everything I have seen about this game so far though has not been promising.

People need to vent their grief.

Well, I'm sure that they'll abandon a project that's already been 5 years in the making because a few people have already decided that they don't like it.

pretty much this , the people who are supporting the idea that the elder scroll series should be a wow clone have no concept of how this will effect real elder scroll games.

instead of doing this game they could be using money to make a next gen engine for the elderscrolls along with a new game. But no , they want warcraft money and dont care if the alienate their fanbase to try to capitalize on it

Posts with opposing view points or criticisms are great, but they should be constructive and preferably reasonable. Suggestions for why the disagree with something in the game and a way to fix it can definitely have an impact on the development.

What doesn't have an impact is useless whining and doomsayers, or people who's only recommendation is to simple make a totally different game(they are years into development),

The one thing that made me a little bit nervous about TES going online is the simple fact that i read that you wouldn't fight "as yourself", and instead have the system that's used in so many other MMOs where you click on hour target, choose your abilities and that's that. What I was really looking forward to was a sort of "First Person" MMORPG.

Despite my hopes and opinions I might be suprised, perharps the game is totally AWESOME, and worthy of the TES name, i'm just worried :)

Enough early warning signs to know that I won't like it. I don't like multiplayer games and I never thought the day a online TES would be here. Such a shame they didn't take stock of feeling amounst the fanbase.

Well, I'm sure that they'll abandon a project that's already been 5 years in the making because a few people have already decided that they don't like it.
While I understand that Zenimax are using the name of Elder Scrolls to generate a tacky profit with this MMO game it does not mean I have to like it. By saying your opinion on matters you feel strongly about you give voice to those issues. Not everyone is going to agree on the same thing.

So to you all... MMO = WoW clone? :ermm:
Yes and no. Most mmo's copy exactly the same style as WoW. I can't speak for everyone who does not play mmo's here but the reason I don't like or play them is because of that style. I would have hoped for something new and different (actually new and different mind you, not these promises other mmo games make only to turn out all the same)

Examples of how it could have been new and different;

-Open world sandbox
-First person view
-No levels, level how you did in single player TES only for a MMO
-Create slightly better factions (can't say much on this but so far not overly impressed however must stress this is because of lack of information about who they are and what they are about, I mean goals and motivations here)

Have some optimism guys! Unless some hard evidence this will svck comes out I am going to continue to support and be excited for this game! And if it turns out it will svck I will shrug and move on and wait for Elder Scrolls VI.

Right, but the problem arrises when the rest of us just want to have interesting discussions about the potential this game might have, and others just keep repeating the same tired out arguments for why it will fail. We've heard them all, they aren't evolving any and most add little to the actual discussion. You may be at a funeral, but some of us are in a forum.
