But this time the change is a whole lot different. It's now multiplayer. As a single player TES player I am phobic of multiplayer games and have had only bad experiences with WoW style games. It really would take something special to impress me on this front. Really this game 'isn't for me' but because it's TES I feel as a fan I reserve the right to [censored] and be judgemental until it is suddenly revealed to be awesome.

Early days yet but not impressed. I hate to sound outdated but I prefered the Morrowind days *moan moan* you know the story. I don't like this game, i'd love to see it be awesome though. I hope you can understand my mixed feelings on this game because it must be weird that I contradict myself a lot.

I'm sorry but the game industry is moving forward. If you wish to stay anchored unless an act of God comes down to impress you about a video game, you might be a bit too attached. There will be no shortage of single player TES games prior or post Elder Scrolls Online's release. So either stay put there, which is fine, or go with the flow rather than instantly condemn (which you are doing) a game you know less than 1% about.

Not wanting to play it because it's an MMO is fine, MMOs aren't for everyone (myself included), but screaming it's not a TES game because it's an MMO is absurd.

Well they will just say 'Well actually we were never developing a mmo game because it were Zenimax' and wink at the camera with a smug little look. I just think i'd be able to feel a lot less upset about this if we had official word from Bethesda.

I second this. I want bethesda to tell us everything will be ok.

The problem with this is that we can't trust their own statements- when Skyrim interviews were being done, they knew the MMO was in production and still made comments that suggested it would never happen, and that they only wanted to work on single player games. They can infer and suggest anything they want, but we now know they can lie by just omitting certain truths.

Or... y'know, they were talking about just Bethesda.

So... you want Bethesda to treat you like a little child? Give you a pat on the head and a cookie for picking up a controller?

I know what they were talking about. But that is exactly my point- they just omitted certain information, and inferred that something that DID happen will never happen. Therefore, I can't trust anything they say about a future single player Elder Scrolls because they now have a track record of basically lying about very important game information.

Coming from the Fallout forums it's quite alien to see Todd getting praise. :ahhh: Has hell frozen over or something?

Well it certainly does not make me think TES when you say MMO in the same sentence. If the games industry is moving forward then I think I'd much prefer staying where I am. Most new games just don't cut it for me :(

I am not condeming it. I am saying that from what I see it looks terrible (to me). I feel this is a bad thing for the TES franchise in general. Now that opinion may change in time given more information it is early days. But I find it highly unlikely.

You might want to peruse the actual interviews and see exactly what was said. Because right now it sounds an awful lot like the lot of you feel as if Bethesda was a parent who lied to you about Sanata Claus and now you can "never trust them again."

A few screenshots and an announcement trailer is NOT enough to judge a game on.
This. Seems to me like most people are writing it off without substantial evidence to prove it'll be a bust... Come on, guys, give it a chance!

It's funny...

You sound a lot like those people who were like "Halo Wars/Halo Reach isn't a Halo game! This is what "Halo" really is! [insert subjective and biased opinion]!" There were even people doing this when WoW was first announced.

The Elder Scrolls Online is an Elder Scrolls game. Period.
WoW isn't considered a warcraft game by many because it is so far departed from warcraft world lore and gameplay. They're nothing alike.

You think in Warcraft 4 is going to be Horde vs Alliance? That druids and warlocks are going to get along? Not a chance. WoW has so bastardized the canon that they only way to continue the Warcraft story is to forget that WoW ever happened, put it so far out of time that none of the events are relevant, and never mention it again.

The "unlikely alliances" in the trailer already puts the taste of [censored] in my mouth, and its only the beginning. You can call this a TES game, but when they have to place the game a thousand years out of time from every other TES game, haha, thats like Todd Howard even saying that its not a TES game.

Lets not forget warhammer online.
You think Games Workshop is going to include that in their halls of glory? That stain will deservedly be whitewashed off the walls, the pages ripped from their history and burned.

Sorry but i personally am AGAINST the mmo, which i feel has violated every virtue we hold dear from the Elder Scrolls series.
My wish was for Todd to come out and say "Guys relax!! There will be a single player TES, just not so soon of course".

That is all i ask. Someone official from Bethesda.

You'll get stopped right there criminal scum if you try and start a petition.

I'll never trust a single human being again! :( But seriously I think I've lost faith in any company actually caring about the lies they tell.

Agree with this completely. Unless some momumental, and I mean huuuuge something comes along and changes my mind. All the signs so far have been bad though in my opinion

Do you want them to dry your tears for you as well? Maybe give you some free DLC for upsetting you so much?

Lol, I feel it has violated things too which is why I so strongly want to hear something.
I am not against an mmo, I am not against this mmo,
What I am against is the threat this mmo is posing right now.

I cant tell them to cancel it and I wont, but I do feel some damage control is in order.

Well, considering how secretive Bethesda are about stuff I think I'm going to enjoy the fear and paranoia already displaying itself here.
Seriously though, I wouldn't hold my breath for Todd to say anything for maybe a month or so.

That's just being antagonistic. A lot of people, myself included are very upset about this direction for the elder scrolls. If you had seen the threads about multiplayer you'd understand that there are strong opinions.
