A few screenshots and an announcement trailer is NOT enough to judge a game on.
Announcement trailer?

Do you want them to dry your tears for you as well? Maybe give you some free DLC for upsetting you so much?

Nope not required. Just Overlord Todd to crack his whip, snarl and cuddle me to tell me that the single player TES is safe.
Oh and free Dawnguard DLC isn't bad either. :D

That's just being antagonistic. A lot of people, myself included are very upset about this direction for the elder scrolls. If you had seen the threads about multiplayer you'd understand that there are strong opinions.

I've always been against multiplayer because it would divert resources away from the main series. But since it's a totally different development group, I have absolutely no issues with this game being made. This game is a prequel to every Elder Scrolls game ever made, and it's ridiculous to assume that it would create a "new direction" for the series.

This. Seems to me like most people are writing it off without substantial evidence to prove it'll be a bust... Come on, guys, give it a chance!

Its a MMO and its using the HERO engine. I'd say thats pretty substantial evidence.

Antagonism and being realistic sometimes go hand-in-hand. I have seen the threads about multiplayer, it's nothing new to see the only angle many of you use is "TES HAS ALWAYS BEEN SINGLE PLAYER!" which is a terrible shallow angle. There are many instances of big franchises branching out and being successful. Warcraft included.

And what nere said. And I don't think I get along with nere very often on the Skyrim forum :lmao:

You honestly think Bethesda is going to abandon what they're best at just because of an MMO version? I think that's poppycock. No way will Bethesda quit making single player TES games. There is too much lore and too many possibilities to let it die out with an MMO.

Well I need overlord Todd to step out of the shadows pat my head give me my dolly and make me feel better before I take your word on that. Good that this is a different team but I can't help but feel a TES online is a terrible terrible idea. Why not just call it something unrelated? The lore setting and art style and factions are so Alien to the modern (I mean 4E) standards that you'd be forgiven for assuming it was another game

Agreed, but i'm still upset and worried. Illogical I know but my gut tells me this game will be forced into F2P at some point and treated badly. Personally not really too keen on what I have seen so far. Emotional state+threads and little information is silly right now but I hope we hear more from Bethesda or more information about the game soon. I really want it to be brilliant but maybe i'm just not seeing it yet and the other part of me thinks I hate it! hate it! Die online TES die!!!

The fact remains that this will change the elder scrolls no matter what everyone says.
I cannot say yet if that change is good or bad, but it is coming.

If bethesda completely ignored this games version of blackmarsh once they make it that far the new MMO fans will be calling heresy.

Are we still complaining about this... Zenimax Online or BS barley read these forums. Why complain here. I mean I can understand complaining once to get it off your chest, or hell even taking 1 thread to vent... but this is ridiculous. If you want to tell them, then email them or something. All of these "it will destroy single player" post are stupid... and you obviously don't have a brain. IF your so sure it will fail, then why worry about it?

Except they've already established that landscape can be changed (like Red Mountain erupting, etc.) in their previous games. And they survived the onslaught of people-with-too-much-time-on-their-hands after Cyrodiil turned out to not be a jungle. I think they'll be fine.

Luckily, it would be a single player game, so we wouldn't hear them. They can cry about it all they want in their Blackmarsh General Chat Channel though :)

because an Elder scroll mmorpg would be extremely interesting. and I would gladly play it. but if I wanted to play wow. then I would play wow, not an copy.

It's saddens me that instead of the current game play, overused mechanics that is at least a decade old is implemented. What I experience as repetitive, unbalanced, and has no choice whatsoever (if you want to keep up with the content)

This game might have lore related to an Elder scroll game, but it won't be an elder scroll itself. For it lacks the gameplay and features that made me fell in love with Bethesda.

I'm sure bethesda will get a chance to make some [censored] expansion pack.

And if it becomes Free-to-Play and is treated badly by ZMOnline... this will affect you... how? If you're already not looking like you will play it, it being a flop has no bearing on you whatsoever since it is being made by a different developer with a different budget than Bethesda.

But at that time they were correcting their own lore to fit with the game. We havent seen how well they can handle cutting someone elses lore, especially the company that owns them's lore. (gah my grammer is horrible today)

There is a difference between criticism and going "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!1111!!!1one!!1!" though.
I don't care really, I'm not even that excited about this project, just saying.

(Allow me to clear that up, there is a difference between cricism and bashing.)

I'm worried that lore maybe tread upon, that this is just another attempt to topple WoW from its throne which has always failed, that the game maybe filled with jumping, hyper active, "I-rule-u-noobs"-named characters and that I will look like a christmas tree when I have the top-tier armors. Those are my fears, but this is still worth testing, you never know....

most of the criticism is from the really "bright" people who think bgs is working on this game and that "TES IS OVER!11"

Its making people ignore the real problem, the combat and classes which is just completely wrong

Saying "It's a WoW clone." isn't criticizing anything that's already known. It's making wild assumptions based on one sentence in a preview.

But I am still a fan of TES. It being in a online format does not change that. It would be a shame to see it's reputation as a mmo rather than a single player game. Both companys belong to the same evil overlord. Budgeting must affect the group as a whole at some point! xD

I think my heart just wants to see a crying Todd Howard saying sorry on his knee's

'We knew about this mmo, i'm so sorry I let it be made'

Then I will be happy!

Well those disussions will come later I am sure. For now we're talking about this game and why it should/shouldn't have even been made :X

TES over? No, but I don't know the affects this will have. Until Bethesda say something about it. Until then we could assume the worse and considering Bethesda have lied before to everyone.... *curls up and cries*

I was kinda looking forward to the FPS MMORPG hopfully but im not holding my breath they are just lying and actually put that in the game instead. I completely understand what your saying with the fight as yourself thing would be very interesting to see a mmo do that, but we dont know yet its only second day of even knowing it exist!

Are you kidding me? The first commercial MMORPG ever was first person no tab targetting fps style: Meridian '59
If you are looking for the latest FPS style MMORPG, check Tera Online.

Between those two there are a lot of other MMORPGS utilizing first person targeting.
Oh and btw. Meridian's leveling system was extremely close to what TES Series uses.

Well it certainly does not make me think TES when you say MMO in the same sentence. If the games industry is moving forward then I think I'd much prefer staying where I am. Most new games just don't cut it for me :(

I am not condeming it. I am saying that from what I see it looks terrible (to me). I feel this is a bad thing for the TES franchise in general. Now that opinion may change in time given more information it is early days. But I find it highly unlikely.

You are very odd. From your arguments Battlespire is not a TES game. Battlespire has Multiplayer after all. And despite all the bugs and glitches, Battlespire Multiplayer was quite a fun experience. Or maybe you are just too young to remember that part of the series?

anyone who has read the GI article knows its really not a WoW clone, but actually a DAOC/GW2 "clone". Sadly most people think WoW is the first MMO.

It did begin developement before GW2 though, so I'm not even sure if that is accurate.

This is one Of my main concerns, the order to create this came from higher up than bethesda, they were probably given a choice as to their involvement but zenimax would make it whether they liked it or not.
