For PC users: What rig do you got?

Post » Sun Jun 13, 2010 6:06 pm

I have an ALIENWARE AREA 51 ALX

core i7 950 @ 4GHz
6GB Dominator @ 2000MHz
GTX 480
22" LG FLatron

I hope it will handle Crysis 2. The Demo is coming out on March 1st, it`s fortunately my Birthday, so if the demo will feature DX11 and my rig won`t do stable 50 FPS, i`m going to upgrade it with a GTX 580 because i want to play this Game maxed out and with full AA and AF.

If your rig can handle it you should consider GTX 480 SLI. I have A GTX 470 OC IN SLI with after market setsugen coolers and it is FAST!!! . I can play crysis in 1920x1080 with Vsync and full AA and everything on very high and i have a solid 60 to70 FPS. When explosions going on it will sometime drop to 50-55. Crysis 2 is suppose to be better optimized so.......

My PC a low-end i know but its not bad.
CPU: Phenom II x3 720 2,8 Ghz
MB: M3A78-T 790GX
RAM: 2x2GB A-Data extreme DDR2 1066Mhz CL5
GPU: Sapphire HD 4830 512MB GDDR3
OS: Windows Vista HP x64
Monitor: 21,5" Samsung P2270HD 1080p

and my Notebook which is 15,6"
Model: Samsung NP-R522-JS01PL
CPU: Core 2 Duo T6500 2.1 Ghz 2MB cache
RAM: 3 GB DDR2 800 Mhz
GPU: Mobility Radeon HD 4650 1GB GDDR3
OS: Windows 7 HP 32bit

Well i target for 1650x1080 with dx9,dx10 since somehow i manage tu run Crysis Warhead on DX10 Gamer at this resolution. As far for my notebook i hope at least for 1280x720 since CW runs at this resolution and in dx9 gamer.

Upgrade and get DX11 running on Vista. It's a pain in the ass, and requires a legit copy, but if you have one, it'll look a million times better.

The patching process takes a while though, so make sure you got a couple free hours before you goto town.

If I couldn't run any of my games in 1080p I'd upgrade, but to each his own I suppose. Even a 460, coming in just over $200, can run dx11 and get you drastically better framerates than your older card.

The main thing with vista and dx11 is that it takes a bit of time to set up, there's a patch you have to verify your license through microsoft to get, and some other stupid stuff.

Definately worth it though, imo.

Really... must have changed in the past while. Maybe that was just when they first decided to do it.

Half the trouble was the stupid verification thing and doing the manual update. And of course, the fact that I had just reformatted with a hardware upgrade and had to wait on service packs before I could run the update.

Ah now i know what u mean that trouble with SP2. yeah with SP2 had to do download and after that verification in order to install it if i recall correctly but i didnt have problem with that(thought some ppl had). but DX11 for vista was included in a update after the release of SP2. Sorry i couldn't understand at first now its another story...

No, SP2 wasn't a problem, because I had already verified to dl the dx11 patch that wouldn't run until I did the SP update. But back then the dx11 patch was a manual dl, I think they were still hoping people would upgrade to 7 for dx11 if it was hard enough to get it working on vista.

Part of my trouble may have been the fact that I use Vista Business 64, since it's a bit less memory intensive of an OS. No idea if that increased the fun factor.

That′s a curious statement, I'd say...

If you are so sure about that number (70 %), it's just rude to only say there's people **** in this thread and not saying exactly who...

I'm sure anyone who you think is **** would be happy to show some proof of what they are claiming. I'm not saying that nobody is, because I've already seen people claiming they have 6x HD 5970 in their rig in youtube pages...

You do graphics stuff, multimedia, or map design? That's a lot of ram otherwise.
