Bethesda still ignores the problem. Great...

I've sent an e-mail regarding this bug and asked if they may throw out an update as to what is happening, lets see if I get a response. :)

- Update - I did not allow the guard on the balcony to be alerted and immediately put him to sleep so he did not follow me into the building - That was the only thing i did differently - Slept the same guards and bypassed all the rest just like i did prior to restarting the mission. As long as that guard does not notice you and try to / succeed following you inside there is no bug - will update again when i finish mission.

Taking out the guard on the balcony was the first thing I did when I arrived in that area. I also took out the guard in front of the door before I entered Galvani's house.
I played through that level without any problems.

@Gstaff
1. low
2. no
3. no
4. Blink 2, Dark Vision 2, Possess 1, Bend Time 1
Don't remember which charms I had active at that time.
5. + 6. Don't know.

Great game so far. The only bug that I encountered is loosing all game settings when Steam is in offline mode. I hope you're looking into that as well as I prefer to keep Steam offline to make sure I don't get any unwanted updates.

Same issue, essentially stuck inside the distillery after I am assigned the mission for Galvani.

I'm unable to progress in this game at this point in time, which is a shame because the longer you go without playing the more you forget the story and I'm becoming less inclined to play by day.

I really don't want to skip this section of the game as I would prefer to keep things non-lethal.

Bethesda probably realizes by now that inventory, char. levels, chaos, and activity in level before entering the office have no bearing on this issue. so, you can likely stop posting the mods initial list of requested info. if i were a mod the question i would ask is:

did all of you poison the still before starting mission 3?

that changes the inventory of the doctor's office. instead of a pile of steaming rat guts we get a rune. it also would have meant you'd opened the bookcase. not exactly a revelation given that the crash dump lists missing files but who knows?

Interesting idea. I did NIOT poison the still.

And as posted above, I had no problems at all in the golden cat mission.

Huh, I did poison it too. So far thats 2 cases of poisoning, and in the only case of no poisoning, the glitch didn't happen.

Nope, I have the guts in my inventory, though. And for me it's bugged.

I didn't poison the still, but I still got the rune. Also bugged, btw.

Unfortunately this is not the case, this is the response I received from Bethesda this morning:

"Thank you for contacting Bethesda Technical Support.

The developers are aware that there is a problem regarding this mission and we're looking into some of the issues you're reporting. Could you please help us answering these questions? We will update you as soon as we have an answer from them.

1. What is your chaos level? (High/Low)
2. Did you sleep dart or kill an NPC just prior to exiting Galvani/entering Distillery?
3. Did an NPC notice and ‘alert’ on you prior to exiting Galvani/entering Distillery?
4. When this issue was experienced, what were your powers and their level?
5. What was in your inventory at the time of the issue?
6. How many hours had you been playing when this issue occurred?

- SKU/Region (e.g. North America, UK)
- Game version number
- Chaos Level
- What Powers (and level of each Power) you have if the issue is related to Abilities/Powers
- Any Pre-Order DLC you may have

Best Regards"

This issue is clearly no where closer to being solved by the looks of things. Are they even looking at the forum?

well in cases where the game is bugged, its bugged the instant you step into the doc's office. picking up the rune isn't necessary to cause it. kminato, unless you picked up the rat guts and neglected to use them, the rat guts theory gets blown, but i still think the issue has something to do with what the player does in mission 2.

if one player (kminato) didn't poison the still and got the bug, then maybe the bug has to do with the number of house guards vs. street level guards. missing guards?

Interesting thought on the guards... I went through and knocked out all the guards in the house (all floors), and street before continuing on to the overseer. In mission three... I knocked out all the guards on the street... then entered the house through the balcony... and knocked out all the guards in the house. The difference between mission two and three though is the bottom floor of the office in mission three was completely devoid of guards... I remember thinking that was strange as there were 4-5 of them in mission two down there.

I actually ignored Granny Rags when she told me to go Galvani's Office and do the rat gut mission. I went and grabbed her rune in the backyard place and she told me to get out.

We're definitely aware that some of you are having issues here and we're planning to resolve this issue in a future update.

I have played many scenarios around this issue and it appears to be related to entering Hogar Square

Mine crashes every time I enter and then exit the Doctors House - regardless of whether I have been to the Distillery first or not and regardless of whether I have encountered the 3 assassins yet or not.

I then reloaded and skirted around the square and got the key to the Art Dealers house - I could still enter and exit the Disterillery without problems. However, after entering Hogar Square the game crashes if you try to enter/exit the Distillery as well as if you try to enter/exit the Doctor's House.

You have now been asked many times when the patch/update will be available and singularly failed to answer

You also imply this is not urgent by saying that "some of us are experiencing issues" - This is a fundamental flaw in what could otherwise be the GOTY - and it is not feasible to "play around the side mission" as you miss so much.
I am more than happy to provide more detail and/or play through various scenarios to help as I am desperate to get back to the game !

For info, I did the Granny Rags side mission and did poison the still - for this I got 2 runes - I "stole" the one from her garden and then she rewarded me with one in her front room.

Please can you give us some indication as to when you hope to have a patch ?

I have just completed that level and it seems that the only way to avoid the desktop crash is to NOT go into the doctors at all , which is an optional quest anyway.

So DEVS the bug is in the Slackjaw sidequest....please sort it...NOW

You've made your presence known. Great.
An update is being worked on. Also great.

We appreciate that but this bug is literally stopping people playing the game, there should be a hot fix for this so people can at least continue their story, there might be other bugs to stomp but they're not screwing the game up like this one. Sort it, we've waited long enough.

I couldn't be more disappointed with the way Bethesda treats customers. We all bought your game and we cannot play it! It's crazy that we have to beg for any information. It's over 1.5 week from the release and we don't have even rough estimation of patch release date!

I will definitely think twice before I buy Bethesda game in the future...

I'm getting that way too. At first there was some strong response and now we are just left in the dark. I paid for a game and I can't play it for no reason.

Yeah it would be nice to see an update about this as the game is literally just wasting space on my HD at the moment. It's unplayable except for the 1st mission and i'm not going to just SKIP that mission.

Really, is that the best you can do? This issue was identified on release day and since then you haven't even managed a "We are sorry for you inconvenience, we know how frustrating it is when something isn't working. Thank you to everyone who has provided us with information and helped us diagnose this problem, your time and your effort are appreciated. I promise you we are working hard to make a quality product, and we will resolve this issue as soon as we can".

Customer service is important, not hard, and really cheap.
