Game is Horrible

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 8:26 pm

jeez there is no such thing as "pc elitist".
there are PC gamers old enough to know better, and PC gamers too young to know better. thats it.

Im a PC gamer that's old enough to know better than to buy games primarily on PC. It may have better graphics, but there is way too much hassle and too many conflicts when trying to play a game on PC.

So you like it, eh? Any chance we can expect a contribution on the Nexus from you?

If you are asking if I plan to make mods for Skyrim then the answer is yes (concept is already made, but no details yet, it is simply to early) and the Nexus is my favored platform to publish them. ;)

Then honestly i do not think you are either of those, any PC gamer who knows better knows very very few PC games are a hassle when you know what you are doing.

Or just buy Blizzard... For a PC unique "mouse oriented UI" game.

Everything else avoid or just prepare for frustration.

I don't think Blizzard are the only people to ever make RTS or TBS games

as a pc user I understand exactly what OP is saying. especially the mouse part and fighting part. To those who are used to console may find the mouse movement ok, but as a sole pc user its just suffocating not to be able to precisely align my line of sight. also the things he said about mouse not working in menu is totally just. I mean, why did they make a pc version at all if they werent gonna give a [censored] about pc users? im not saying UI is horrible. i like favorite system. nevertheless mouse not working in menu is no excuse.

Ive already wrote a post about lack of reaction in blocking and battle in overall. so i wont write another one all over again. to put it simply if oblivion melee was patched in skyrim instead of current system i wouldnt be too dissatisfied...

They should make a sePerate section for whiny ass pc players. You don't think I get joystick lags??? Oh wait I don't. Either go buy a 360 or Ps3 or find someone to text about this. Your ruining the forums for everyone who is enjoying this game!

Look, OP, I know what you mean about the media industry's less-than-honest relations with the producers and devs. Take Dragon Age Origins. I really DID NOT like that game despite the reverent, nay, violent support the devoted fan fanbase gave. Not a one single solitary reviewer would give anything less than 10 stars to that ride-the-rails corridor-fest.

I expected Skyrim to flat-out svck. I've heard all the hype. I've seen Morgan Webb pet Todd's head on G-4 TV like he was her pet developer (lucky man!) and I was ready to make my decision before even playing. I kicked myself the very second I dropped 60 bucks on it. I wanted to hate it before the first loading screen hit my monitor.

I did make my own decision, and frankly, I love. I am so pleasantly surprised with this game that it makes me like it all the more.

Lolol I can only laugh at PC players when they QQ like this. Todd said that it was optimized for consoles. So.... Oh my Gods.... I... I bought it for the console!?!? What in Oblivion??? Call me crazy but.. I'm 100% sure I'll be 100% satisfied when my game comes for the 360. I've got a way old pro version of xbox (same kind my dad has, he has the game and says it's one of the greatest games visually and gameplay wise) so, hooray for being too poor for the Slim! :celebration:

This game is horrible. Ignore the reviews, and the fake metacritic ratings.. I knew this was coming Bethesda, i knew you'd consolise the [censored] out of your game to flog it on hardware which should be in LANDFILL.

First is the mouse lag, yeah, its software accelerated, it floats and takes an age to be accurate. Then there is the constant re-use of textures and poor effects (game is 5.2GB, smaller than oblivion, and it shows). Im not lying when i say that my first 3 hours of this game after getting into the world were literally in black and white, and it became oppressive very quickly.

Adding to that oppression is the field of fiew, again, designed for consoles with no thought for PC gamers. It must be about 55 Degrees - rather than the 80 or even 90 it should be, so even if the game were pretty, you can't fit it into your screen. And you have to endure motion sickness like playing the game through a port-hole.

Next up, the menus are fiddly as hell. Nothing is made for the mouse, you have to click through the menus with wasd and even then they often bug out. No explanations are given for controls either. 4 hours in and i am still trying to find out how exactly to use my "control animal" spell which i got 30 mins into the game. Its effing cryptic. Again, if it were designed for the PC and not a consoles then they wouldnt have such a backwards system for equipping and using spells/weapons etc.

Fighting? Its awful. Due to the unresponsive mouse and the god awful hit detection and swing times for weapons you may aswell be flailing around trying to tickle them to death with a 3ft feather. Tell me Bethesda, how long does it take to swing a sword? Does it take upwards of two seconds?? NO, IT DOESNT. IT TAKES A FRACTION OF A SECOND. WHY IS THE COMBAT IN SLOWMO??

Just avoid this. Even if you really want to play it, dont buy it, rent it, and youll be glad you didn't buy it. Bethesda have to be shown that us pc gamers WHO MADE THEM will not allow them to lower the standards to cash in on these consoles that shouldve died years ago. Personally i am SICK of it and i am insulted and dismayed when i see them flogging such crap for the PC. The game is a joke bethesda, i knew it would be, months ago, watching a preview and listening to your little minion talk about how beautiful the world is, when i could SEEEEEEEEEEEEE that its ugly as sin. I HATE it when developers/previewers do that, because its BRAINWASHING. It is a CRIME. You think that people wont notice that it looks like dirt, aslong as you pay some chimp to tell the camera 50 times that its "beautiful".

Seriously take a fricking step back Bethesda.

Your job is to make games, and make them as good as you can. ELSE ITS NOT WORTH IT.
No Artist devours their own art to flog it to more people - you devour your own games to flog them to more people, and that is soul-less and sad. It must be heartbreaking to work for such a sell-out company.
Really I am tired of whinners blaming the consoles. Go back to Morrowind and see it was a damn good console game with all the options of a PC game. All those same options can work on consoles, but they streamline these newer games for many reasons. Skyrim is great and if people do not like it, that isn't the consoles fault..........it is your problem. I play both PC and console so I know WTF I am talking about here. Someone also mentioned the other day that nothing was ported. Bethesda took the time to make them all seperate from each other, so be thankful you have a ****** game.

People, enough with the console bashing. And don't call anyone a troll. Both are forbidden in the forum rules.

@ Holemole, I have never played a TES game or most any game on a console. Or at least not since Nintendo 64 (which I still play every Thanksgiving) and am very much a pc player and I have no issues with the not having any issues with controls or mapping. So I don't think that has anything to do with it.
