Game of Thrones Discussion

I thought it was a great episode. Looking forward to next Sunday.

Craster could have stood to be a bit greasier, imo.

Agreed. . .and I thought he had a few too many daughters in the show. . .

HATED: Ros. Seriously, why is this non-book-character given screen-time here when there's barely enough time to give the actual important characters? So stupid.
Pretty sure that she is going to stand in for Chataya and possibly Alayaya as well. In season one she was the sixposition character, now I figure she will end up helping Littlefinger in his political intrigues.

She also went through that entire episode without taking her clothes off. I'd say I'm impressed, but then that would mean I'd be happy at not seeing boobs, which I can't bring myself to do. Would've liked to have seen some of Renly, such as his marriage to Meagery in Highgarden or something. Apart from
Spoiler
Balon
they showed all of the Five Kings, so why not Renly?

That bit with Robb and Grey Wind having a go at Jamie was [censored] awesome, and I'm not normally a Stark fan.

Also, spoiler 4 Pyke:

Spoiler
I suspect Cersei is upto something. And after Kevan's death she might become a schizophrenic. Ahh! Poor Cersei.

I wonder if Young Griff is the real Aegon the VI? If he is, he just a much better chance of sitting the throne than Stannis.

Spoiler
I believe hes the mummer's dragon in the "vision quest" Dany has. There have even been rumors its illyrio's son or something.

Overall they did a good job getting the 2nd season started. I'm looking forward to next Sundays episode. But yeah, Craster I expected to be dirtier, with rotting teeth and long hair. But the actor played him well.

Just watched the first episode of season 2. They did a good job, I'm glad that the tv series has a very high production quality.

Edit: I like the old thread title, why change it?

Would've been nice if the NY Times had actually assigned someone for the review who didnt have prejudices against fantasy or interesting storylines.

Sorry...I couldn't help it. :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McF18c5IC1Q** ...I think he should be slapped in every episode.

**Cersei's not even close to beating Tyrion's slapping of Joffery, tho. That + the vids were so hilarious...

That was a great part in the first episode. The entire throne room quieted at the sound of Cersei's hand slapping Joffrey's cheek.

Don't forget, last year their reviewer was a chick who declared she didn't know any woman who would watch it.

Yet the series has some powerful woman in it. Catelyn vs. Cersei. But I remember the review you're talking about.

I laughed at this when watching it with my dad, I've only watched since mid-frist season and I dislike him.

What happened to that army of warriors that were in the first season with the massive guy as their leader?
Did they leave because they didn't want to be led by a women?

HA! You people wish you were DnD players. This whole book series would be wrapped up by the end of book one if this were a group of players. Ever played a pen and paper? No? Then you have no idea how crazy it is trying to plan for each and every bizarre action your players take in the game. It would certainly lack drama, players tend to be problem solvers. Not enablers.

Actually, my mom, who's 76 years old and usually does not care for fantasy, loves the show. It was funny because I remember her asking me during the 1st season if there were any dragons in the story because she wants to see dragons. That was a question I never ever expected to hear from my mom in my lifetime.

Are you talking about Shagga, the "chop-off-your-manhood-feed-it-to-goats" character, or Gregor Clegane, a hulking brute? Or someone else?

Spoiler
Clegane is running errands for Tywin in the Riverlands while Shagga and his warriors are arrayed in Kingswood.

I don't know there names, the blonde girl with the dragon's husband. IIRC he was injured and it got infected so the blonde girl dragged in a witch, to the others disagreement.
The guy poured molten gold over the blonde girls brother because he assualted her, or something. Where are those warriors...

Strange.

If anything, I would've said the opposite about Game of Thrones - that it's more of a mainstream household series than a true fantasy nerd's series. As good a show as it is, it reeks of network executive decisions aimed at boosting ratings / appealing to a broad audience. What more does he want?

Drogo.
That's the one, without a google search I would have said Drago or something.
So yeah, where did his soldiers go when the girl left with the others or have I missed an episode?

His bloodriders claimed a significant part of his army and "parted ways."

In the book they explain how the Dothraki work.
Spoiler
Since Khal Drogo dies, the rest of riders and tribes people follow the next most dominant, leaving Dany only with her slaves, maids and three blood riders that are sworn to protect her 'till death.

I hope that helps.
