Just finished watching the season three premiere. It feels like it's going to be a better season this year. Certainly a good episode overall.
Spoiler
I groaned when the Bronn scene came up, I thought it was going to be another sixploitation scene, but thankfully they didn't feel the need to go that way.
I don't like that they reveal Littlefinger's hand in Sansa's rescue from the start. It was quite a surprise reveal in the books, and I think it would have worked quite well on screen too.
The dragon looks very cool, for the first time there's a sense that these might be dangerous creatures. And I'm very looking forward to the scene where Dany purchases the Unsullied. That is possibly one of my favourite scenes in the book. In all, very excited with Dany's subplot this season. I'm surprised that they dispensed with the whole Arstan Whitebeard deception from the outset. Though, thinking more about it, it wouldn't have tricked anyone, since people would notice the same name in the cast playing both Barristan and Arstan. This is one of those things that works better in book format. (Also, has Strong Belwas been cut? I desperately want to see him defecate on and wipe his [censored] with a fallen champion's cloak.)
That Tywin-Tyrion scene was well-done, two great actors playing off one another.
Don't know what I think of Ciaran Hinds as Mance yet. Mance is a very different sort of leader from Caesar. It still seems strange to see him in this role.
No Arya, Bran or Brienne 'n Jaime.

As for twisting certain characters' personalities, there's one more in season 2 that I find far worse than the deal with Stannis.
Spoiler
It's with Jaime.
Spoiler
The part where he kills his cousin in his escape attempt. It's very well established in the books that he would never harm any of his family, not even the ones he despises. It bothered me greatly, especially because Jaime is one of my favourite characters in both the books and the TV show.
Spoiler
A warlock of Quarth. They are pretty angry at Dany for burning their leader and wreaking havoc in Quarth.
