Girls and Skyrim

Sry about the copy of the op. not intended. I have two things to say. First- posts on topics claiming the topic is pointless is even more pointless then the supposedly pointless topic. Second- I love the crap out of metriod. It was nintendos last good thing in my opinion. Samus is one of the best and most mysterious game characters ever and then they just destroyed her with Other M. Does anyone share my longing for a new real metriod game?

Agreed...

Your a girl gamer? Ok... So am i, and have been since i was 5, but i don't make threads to draw attension to me. I don't mean to sound rude, but... It's just silly... Who cares, you know? Are you insecure about being a girl gamer or something?
As horribly cynical as it sounds... when a female gamer feels the need to point out that they are female (or even demonstrate it)... I can only interpret it as some sort of mating ritual. Afterall, the only situation in which the results of the second chromosome play a part ARE in reproductive pairing. Doesn't make a damned difference to the gaming whatsoever.

... Which, in the effort to somehow make this about me.... is why I consider myself genderless (and Asixual for that matter). Gaming is all I do, thus matters of gender are irrelevant to me.

Didn't Dragon Age have a really huge Female Fanbase?

Maybe it's just me but I swear I heard somewhere that it had almost as many, if not more girls (actively) playing it than it had guys.

You want the honour?

But I have not ever thought there were no gamer girls or anything. That thought is just rediculous.
But as someone said, the majority of both gamers and develpoers are male.

No one's given you your fishy stick yet, GaminGeisha? :ermm:

I've known lots of girl gamers-- rather, girls who call themselves gamers. Mostly she played Super Mario 3 on her brother's Super Nintendo from time to time, and drops in on video games discussions based her vague familiarity with certain games. Playing an FPS usually meant looking straight up at the sky and spinning. This is just from my own observations

I noticed most females side with RPG's and MMO's.

Personal preference; I played PNP D&D a long time before Pong came out. I like those types of games more than "run, gun, grenade" types of games. I guess its something about building an epic type of character working with the restrictions of rules instead of "I can shoot faster than you." I also never got that into multiplayer; start off with a 9600 baud modem or less and you don't go in for multiplayer twitch reaction games.

Genuine question - why do alot of female gamers feel the need to announce their gender when using internet forums for the first time?

Good question. I play games. My gender, my age, my location... doesn't matter. I was a member here for a looooong time before anyone ever asked me if I was male or female, and it was related to a discussion in CD.

Speaking of which, this has nothing to do with Skyrim, really. Just the OP maybe living somewhere where female gamers are not as common? I'll move it to community discussion.

I've seen more of the female folk on my XBox Live F-list playing DA:O (and DA:2) than male....
In the latter case, I'd attribute it mostly to Fenris, at a guess. I've seen quite a trend in females gushing over Fenris... leading me to believe that apparently Bioware FINALLY figured out how to make a passable male RI.

hey look... another "girl gamer" thread :P

Welcome to the forums, don't mind the chauvinism and crowds of drooling suitors lmao

You say you started @ 7? But how old are you? That could be anything from 10 to 20+ years of gaming

Gaming used to be something for the social outcast... and was generally dominated by nerdy/geeky males (self included)

Somewhere along the line (or rather, slowly and progressively over time) gaming became more and more acceptable and now the gaming ratio of men to women is a lot closer to even then it ever has been.

While Rule #30 is obviously false, it did come from a time where it was almost true.

I don't care about girl gamers in general, it's the ones who obsessively HAVE to announce they're a girl that annoy me.It's like it'll make the validity of what they say more strong or something.

This is clearly a troll thread, everyone knows girls don't play games.

I am a girl and a gamer ^^

I have been playing computer games since I got my first Amiga in 1995.

It is good that games let you choose to have a female character.

Genuine question - why do alot of female gamers feel the need to announce their gender when using internet forums for the first time?

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but i have never ever felt the need to announce my gender to anyone. And people wonder why so many females attract attention from the letches that frequent most popular forums. Seriously, be sure to make another 6 or 7 "Look at me" type threads as it can only help you blend into the crowd further.
This.

I'm a girl, I'm more of a gamer, yet no one really believes me when I say I just played Skyrim for seven hours straight (I mean, how could you not?). And I know I'm not the only girl who is also a gamer that plays Skyrim. Also, thank you so much Bethesda for letting us choose to be male or female! It's a pretty awesome feeling not having to be a dude character again. There need to be more games where the lead is a chick (Portal, Metroid) because, and this should be common knowledge by now, chicks play games. And some of those chicks--just like their dude counterparts--are terrible, they're noobs. But others who, like myself, have been playing since they were wee (in my case SEVEN years old) are absolutely amazing--again like their male counterparts that have been playing since they were wee. Just sayin'.
Maybe its just me, but 7 hours isnt much. I remember when I first got my hands on destroy all humans. All I remember, was "oh [censored], the suns up". That game was awesome.
Also, choosing gender is pretty common for quite a few games.

In general, girls who start "I'm a girl gamer" thread with loud and proud proclamation of their gender weigh about 300 pounds, are named Chuck, reside in subterranean structures underneath houses owned by their parents, and posses a most gender-inappropriate set of male reproductive organs.

Not saying that this is necessarily the case here, but the general wisdom of the Series of Tubes dictates that it may be.

Of course, the OP could also turn out to be Skyrim's own Adrianne Curry anolog. Then again, tomorrow I could wake up and discover ten billion dollars in my bank account.

I felt like joining in with the thread ^^

Normally I do not say anything as as far as I am concerned I am just a gamer who happens to be female.

I notice a couple typical responses to these threads...

"oh hai! U sngl? A/S/L?"

"hur dur rule #30. Women don't exist. I was born asixually"

"Who cares? You must be desperate or something"

Always an entertaining read :D

Hey guys, I'm not trying to impress you or anything, but I'm a boy, and I play games. I love how you can play as a boy in Skyrim, it really allows me to express myself as a boy. I mean, it should be common knowledge by now, boys play games!

I'm a cat who plays games. We feline gamers rarely get the recognition we deserve. You humans think you're the only ones allowed to have fun? I'm thankful that the Elder Scrolls series allows us to play a civilized being rather than a hairless ape.

Granted, 7 hours in one sitting is a bit of a stretch. I need to break every half-hour or so for a nap.

And when I tell humans on the internet that I'm a cat, they never believe me. They think I'm a human pretending to be a cat for attention. "Cats can't type," they say. "Cats are too stupid." Speciesist scum!

what did you edit on my post? I don't notice anything different :P I'm guessing misclick trying to quote lol. Done the same on my forums I dunno how many times lol

And I dunno how I forgot to include the "Women don't play games, they're supposed to be in the kitchen" reply in common "Girl Gamer" thread replies lol

PS: Extra mayo for me pl0x... kthx

Cats can too type. Here, I'll let my cat take over to prove it.
