I hate Royal Mail

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 8:06 am

I got in touch with them this morning and was promised it would arrive today. It hasn't and would probably take a miracle for it to turn up later in the day now. They told me to wait until the 17th until contacting them again. I won't be waiting that long. At about 3pm this afternoon they will be hearing from me again if it isn't here. I've waited 5 years for this game. I'm not waiting five more days because Amazon can't get their act together.

The mail I got was:

Hello x, Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk. Firstly, we regret to hear that you have not yet received your order x. We use carriers which we have found to provide the best service for our different delivery options. For UK customers, our orders are delivered primarily by Royal Mail and Citylink for Super Saver, First Class and Express Deliveries. We also use HDNL and UPS, typically for large or high value items. Our ordering system automatically assigns a carrier to your order when it is ready to dispatch. Our ordering system automatically assigns a carrier to your order when it is ready to dispatch. When an order is dispatched the choice of carrier is based upon a variety of factors and it is not possible for us to assign a specific carrier to a particular order or customer.

I’ve checked and can see that your order x was sent via Royal Mail to the following address: x The estimated delivery date given for this order is November 11, 2011. Your order is still in transit and I’m confident that it’ll arrive by the estimated delivery date. You can confirm the estimated delivery date by visiting the “Your Orders” section of Your Account or by clicking on the following link: x If you haven’t received it by November 17, 2011 please let us know by replying to this e-mail and we’ll investigate further. This is the longest we’d ask you to wait and your parcel may well be delivered before then. If your order arrives in the meantime, you don’t need to contact us. I hope this helps and that we’ll see you again soon.

If you dont get your copy by 3pm get in contact, ask for a full refund, they done it for me so they should for you too. They tried to fob me off with just my first class delivery charge back but i pressed and got the full refund.

Yank mail in the States is no good either. Maybe you get it, maybe you don't . SO often I get "return to sender" for no reason.

ok folks. i work for royal mail and this isn't our fault. i'm still waiting for it and it hasn't turned up today either. Pre-orderred through amazon.co.uk in june. Royal mail First Class is 2-3 working days not next day. If you get it next day you are lucky, nothing more. Blame amazon or whoever you pre orderred it from. they can ship it to us early and not have us deliver it until a specific date.

My normal Royal Mail postie brought mine yesterday. It wasn't a parcel, it was just in a jiffy pack. Surely yours should be too?

First Class is 2 to 3 days???????????!!!!!! I DO blame the ploughing so called 'Royal' Mail. How long does second class take? A year??? Back even in the days of steam railways they found it possible to deliver first class post the next day before 9am!! But now it seems to be impossible. Newspapers seem to be delivered round the whole country the next day but a simple packet via Royal Mail?... Not a chance.

Something is very wrong with Royal Mail. Very wrong! It should be privatised IMHO.

Royal Fail, possibly the worst delivery company in existence. Why Amazon insist on using their sorry service is beyond me.

Thats the annoying thing though, Royal Mail say its Amazon's fault and Amazon have just told me my order is delayed because of Royal Mail. Honestly, I don't care whose fault it is, the fact that both parties are blaming each other only implies to me that neither are really on top of the situation.

Yeah same, if it doesn't come today I will be asking for that extra money back.

I have to wait for it over the weekend. My pre-order was not sent from the local storage of the webstore I pre-ordered it - they sent it to me from their main storage which is located in Sweden so it takes a few days more to reach my home in Finland. That's annoying.

second class is usually 5 days or so. As for what it was like in "the good old days", the volume of mail was NOWHERE near what it is today. Ask any retired postie and they'll tell you that. A normal friday now is just as busy as it was at christmas time 15 years ago. If you honestly think privatisation is gonna work then you're delusional. It'll be worse.

Still waiting on mine aswell and the post has been and gone. Which I don't even understand, my copy was supposedly posted last Saturday.

Needless to say, I'm frustrated. For the price/lack of pre-order bonus' I could have just bought it from a store. The whole point of pre-order is to get it day one, in the morning. :banghead: And worse still, if it doesn't come tomorrow, I'll have to wait till Monday D:

Umm well as i spoke to amazon and they told me the ROYAL MAIL courier had been delayed, id say thats the ROYAL MAIL's fault. Stop trying to back them up just because you work for them, ask pretty much anyone in the UK what they think of Royal Mail and they'll tell you they are terrible. Also i love how postal workers sometimes strike because they "don't get paid enough", when from what ive seen they cant even do ther job properly in the first place.

Next day should be next day, no bloody excuses. Volume of mail be damned, don't offer a service if you can't back it up. If you ask me, we don't need the privatisation of Royal Fail, we need a ton of competitors to come in and blow them out of the water.

Ah, I see! And there I was believing all the stories in the press about how all the problems Royal Mail are facing are due to FALLING demand and lack of customers using the service what with email etc, When in fact the dreadful downgrade in the service we recieve is due to there being TOO MUCH post. But as you imply, maybe once we all get so fed up that no one uses Royal Mail at all things will get back to normal and first class post will be divered the next day.

Royal Fail at their best.

It's 1:30 and I have work in two hours - I woke up at 10 in hope that my copy would have arrived so I could sneak in a few solid hours before work, albeit it was not to be. Seriously doubting that I'll even get it today either.
