I HATE the thalmor...

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 8:31 am

I think at the time I ended up using the word "snooty" but that wasn't quite right. "Sassy" fits them perfectly!

I'm still amazed at how the look of Altmer has been improved. I know opinions vary wildy about some of the character designs in Skryim, but IMO Altmer look incredible now, as they should. (Also Bosmer! A bit of an improvement over Oblivion maybe, hehe)
After playing Skyrim, I purchased Oblivion. I thought the Altmer were horrible in that game. Add in the fact that they had a 100% weakness to magic, and that sunk the class for me

Actually, not too long before Skyrim came out, I went back and finished Oblivion with my first character, then started a new game with an Altmer Mage with the Apprentice sign. Enemy mages could be a bit of a danger, but damn, he was pretty good in the magic department. I got used to summoning things to tank for me while I dealt magic damage from a distance, and did pretty well.

The Altmer weakness to magic plus the Apprentice weakness to magic was pretty tough at first, but the combination of Altmer and Apprentice made for a really good mage overall.

Well hell, the look of everything has improved compared to Skyrim's predecessors.
Agreed. Along side the combat system revamp, the new textures and graphical update of Skyrim is what really makes this game unique. I was riding along a road during dusk and saw the moon with a red tint, it was incredibly beautiful. I find it amazing that a game can manage to create such a beautiful environment and make me gawk at it in amazement.

The Missing in Action quest lets you slaughter a bunch of them.

I bring their trophies as offerings to Heimskr's shrine.

I also played Oblivion after Skryim, and agree with you 100%. The Altmer in Cyrodiil are pretty scary by comparison!

I just find Skyrim to be one of the most beautiful games ever made. Sure, other games in the future may outproduce it graphically, but you can tell Bethesda put in a lot of effort to redesign the game engine for Skyrim. One of the beauties of The Elder Scrolls is that Bethesda takes their time designing a brand new engine for every game. Unlike other games *cough* COD *cough*

is there any way to get in their coumpund without console commands? (aside from doing the quest)
You used to be able to glitch your way up onto the ledge in Reeking Cave (the cave you exit out of in the quest) using whirlwind sprint but I think they patched it.

The Creation Engine isn't THAT new. It's still mostly Gamebryo, as far as I know

its still a beautiful game. It reminds me what RDR would look like if it took place in Skyrim's time period. That's probably why I love skyrim so much. i put a lot of time In RDR and spent time just admiring the scenery while roaming around the wilderness

I don't. I think they're a big enough threat that they should get their own game. TES: VI Crush the Thalmor.

Lol. But its not likely to happen. The next ES game will probably take place in Elsweyr. That'll be fun. I can be around third person speaking Khajit while getting drunk on Skooma

Whether it's an expansion or a full game, I would love to play "Crush the Thalmor". :gun: :sorcerer:

By the way paper, FYI, the mods will close a topic that is already being discussed in a special thread. Check the top of the screen for stickied threads before posting. Also, check if there's a future DLC thread on page 1
Anyways, I've got to go. You guys have made for a very entertaining evening

Ok, so they can be background villains again in TES VI: Elsweyr and we can fight them in TES VII: Summerset Isles.

lol the game of the 2nd great War of skyrim

No, no, no. If you're going to crush the Thalmor, you gotta do it where they live.

Why so much hate for the Thalmor? They are so interesting!

And nearly all of you have to admit, there is one thing you love about them.

Killing them :P

"Hate them? I don't want to see mer dominating/ruling over men. So I kill them when I see them to lessen their population and instill fear and confusion among them. A sort of natural selection. I have always disliked invasive magical creatures or creatures of magical origin.
I only hold respect for giants, their honest and simple ways. Even tho it appears they evolved from mer."

The Thalmor are awesome and the rightful heirs to Tamriel. I will support them when the time to war with them comes... :)

If there's one thing that both Imperials and Stormcloaks can sit down at the table and agree upon, it's the Thalmor.

Difference is, that the Imperials are either too weak, coward, corrupted and/or stupid to do anything against them.

I don't put a hand in the fire saying that the Stormcloaks could (maybe they could with the aid of Hammerfell), but at least they've the guts to fight.

I hate them even more then Argonians and that is a strong hate. I used to hate Kajhit but when i saw the band help me take out a dragon while all the other soldiers were in the town I found respect for them.

Ever since I made Gutslit's backstory, I've developed his hatred of them. Not the brooding part, but he even has chosen to use that axe you get that is very strong against elves just so he can get his revenge one day. He hates big weapons, but if it takes an axe just to get his word out or at least see larger amounts of their blood, he will say yes. He prefers to use a bow in every form of combat, though.
