Hearthfire bugs report. Part 1

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 3:07 pm

Falkreath problem like everyone else, except my glitch stems from the glitched "kill the bandit leader" misc. quest; I didn't kill the housecarl. I have two of those quests and they're both glitched, one at Rift Watchtower and the other at Knifepoint Ridge. I thought they were pretty well known bugs, but there's still no fix for them yet????

I return from my state of invisible lurking to report some major issues.

First off, when I tried to adopt a child, my home was apparently "not furnished". I had four, fully furnished rooms (with nothing obtainable left), one of which was the bedroom. I reloaded the save and got the same option. Also, all adoptable children chase after me to talk to me now. My spouse also refuses to go to my new home. But, yeah... Glitches. Glitches everywhere.

I'm just getting massive freezing in the Falkreath house. Every time I enter now the game locks up and I have to turn off the system. Seemed to happen worse once I adopted a child because before it would only freeze rarely in the house now its every time I enter.

- I buy the house entrance upgrade for 1000 gold but it said I don't have enough gold but I have over 90,000 gold.
This and that I keep getting nasty freezes where you have to restart your Xbox, I thought it was my bard doing things around the house besides playing, but after firing him it still occured, I have Lakeview Manor and it's getting annoying because I'm enjoying having a kid and loads of chests to put my stuff in.

Just subscribed.. Amazed by the surprising lack of bugs in Skyrim original game, Hearthfire is getting things back down to earth and below...
My problems are mostly:
- Crafted items on the workbench alongside with the ones from carpenter's table are getting displayed in inventory under "Misc" tab ( funny to have a roof in the pocket)
- Bugged quest "Laid to rest" prevents me from buying my second house in Morthal (no problems in Falkreath, though). In fact the ghost i'm supposed to talk to, upon visiting the burned house, won't appear
- Sawn logs in inventory looks like elven boots (not that's really bothering me.. just to point it out)
- Still there's the naked children issue but i think that one is pretty common

Also just discovered you aren't supposed to have sawn logs in your inventory but a log pile near the house...

Well if you have naked children, just give them more clothes till they decide they like them. Only seems to happen on the first gift of clothes in my game.

Some of the furniture that your house has in its "small home" incarnation does not disappear properly when you opt to convert it into an entry hall, and conflicts with later upgrades to the space.

I'll copy-paste what I posted elsewhere: A bench and entryway rug are part of the fully upgraded Entry Hall, but cannot be crafted by the player. Only your steward can enable these additions. If this area was previously used as a small home, and you've opted to convert it into an entry hall, not all of the furniture from its previous "small home" state will disappear. The wolf skin carpet and end table with candles will remain, conflicting with the bench and carpet that the steward adds if you allow him/her to decorate, as will the wall hanging on the right of the door to the main hall, clipping through the "improved" wall hanging that should replace it. I bypassed these visual errors when building my second home by simply not furnishing the small house at all, converting it to an entry hall as soon as was possible, and letting my steward handle all the decorations for the entry hall from there on.

Also, I seem to have a non-hostile skeever living in my basemant. After fending off one infestation, he just sort of stuck around, and now he's a pet. If this is a bug or glitch, please don't fix it. I would miss him terribly.

Can't buy land in Falkreath, someone on the Elder Scrolls wiki believes it could be a bug caused by killing Helvard as part of the dark brotherhood quest line

Can't be I completed the DB and was still able to buy land in Falkreath without any issues, BUT my game freezes every time I bring a potential steward into look around we never make it past the main dining table

Started off with a bang! Loading up Hearthfire for the first time from my last auto save caused my character to fall from the sky and die! It auto-reloaded, and since then, the entire game is now unplayable due to constant freezing when entering/leaving buildings. I managed to start a house in Falkreath, but I spend more time rebooting the xbox and waiting at load screens than I do actually playing the game. I'm starting to get pretty frustrated with this. Does Bethesda not have a QA team? How did Skyrim get out the door? I'm a little PO'd that the whole game is now unplayable because of this DLC. Lol, starting to wish I was a PS3 owner!

That's the duplication glitch, I have no idea as to how to stop it but at least you know now that it's a already known bug  Try putting the new armor on the dummy without removing the fur armor and see if the new armor replaces it, if it doesn't then remove the new stuff and this should reset the glitch to duplicate the new armor and not the fur stuff.

I have a bug where I asked my wife to move from Lakeview Manor to Windstad Manor, adopted 2 children and asked them to move to Windstad aswell, but instead they moved to Lakeview and my wife reset back to Whiterun (Ysolda). She still has all her dialogue options and I can still ask her to move to a house but she will just say she will pack her her things but never go. So now I can't even move the kids to another house because my spouse is glitched.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Delete it and then reinstall it and see if that helps, something may have messed up the first time you downloaded it, don't worry you don't have to pay for it again it will be free this time seeing how you already had it.

How many Mb's is your save file? Mine jumped from 14mb to 16mb and it bogged the game down, so I had to do " spring cleaning " to lower my Mb's. It made the game run smother but I still get freezing when I walk into the main hall, I'm starting to think it has something to do with the green house.

It seems to be the common factor between everyone that seems to have freezing issues, more so if it's the Falkreath lake view house. I'm as well going to restart from an earlier save and try it without the green house this time round. If there's a change I'll post to let you guys know

The same thing is happening to me! It is the only plot left for me to buy, it is a shame because I do not have any prior save, I've already dedicated 116 hours playing this game and concluded the main storyline, civil war, guilds (Dark Brotherhood, Winterhold, Thieves, etc.) and Dawnguard. I do not want and will not start all over again because of a bug!

I enjoyed this game so much that I started hunting achievements, I'm already at 1260/1300G and feeling frustrated because so far it doesn't seem possible to get all of them....

Please launch a fixing patch, Bethesda!!

Random question. Does deleting and re-downloading Hearthfire cause fully built houses to disappear and you have to rebuild them?

remove=House vanish
Re-in-store = House come back.
