The new Skyrim DLC 'Hearthfire' has been announced. Watch the trailer on http://www.bethblog.com/2012/08/28/hearthfire-coming-to-xbox-live-on-september-4th/. There's some more info http://gamesas.com/en-us/games/hearthfire.
As with Dawnguard, the DLC is a timed exclusive release for the Xbox 360. PC and PS3 releases will follow later.
Why is this being talked about in the DG threads? Took me forever to find it. We either need a designated DLC section, or Hearthfire section (like DG) or discuss it in the general section. Right?
I know werebears and freaking spears. I think they will be in the next DLC if not in Hearthfire secretly. Now all we need is HINT HINT BETHESDA lunar transformations.
They better, I've been waiting years for werebears, way before Skyrim was annouced.
The fact you have to craft all the furniture for the house and that you can have multiple houses and such is huge for me. Lots of time collecting raw materials which is good because I'm playing a very role-playing oriented character right now.
And it looks like you can adopt multiple children, which is cool. No more kids living by themselves after mommy and daddy get blasted by vampires or dragons.
And Serana better be able to be a fricking housecarl. Or a marriage option now. Seriously. She's the hottest girl in the damn game.

I just hope Serana is killable. I could've ended that prophecy with one damn blow if they'd let me.
Meh... I'll pass on this one, unless some really good mods require it. Then again... if they add an easy framework for creating constructable buildings, that could lead to the ability to dynamically generate buildings, maybe?

I agree with you. She's a vampire and annoying person who always tries come with you on your travels even if you don't want and she doesn't understand that dead ones should stay in the way they are. I'm still doing the questline but I hope when it's over it's possible to kill her and then hunt down every each vampire who wanders on the land of Skyrim.
Loved Dawnguard for 20 bucks but what the heck is this.....? this should had been a update, not even worth 3 bucks not to mention 5. Total complete kill joy.
Be quiet. You have mentioned enough, you don't have to spam the hole forum when you don't like something.
As for the architextures, well I don't found it very pleasing that there is jus these Whiterunhouse. Some mentioned, that is great for Roleplaying. I say how? You can't choose if you want to build a secret hideout, a Mage tower or a met hall, You have just the opinion to build a house in different stages (from coffin to mansion).
Let down, to me, it's an absolute let down. We have thousands of house mods on PC already, I know, you console people might find this alright, but trust me, it's not that interesting. If bethesda even plans of making hearthfire more than $5 that is a total ripoff, if it's $5 or less, I might buy it maybe.
So anyway, where is that atmora DLC I was waiting for bethesda?
To be frank, it was a really bad move on Bethesda's part to announce Hearthfire now, what with the PS3 version of Dawnguard's release still in 'TBA' territory. If this keeps up, they will be (and already have, for that matter) dealing irreparable damage to their reputation with the PS3 crowd.
Being on PC, I would say the interest here would be not in the mod itself (we have the CK, which is a lot more flexible with home-building) but rather the new resources it will provide. Such as the new baking animation. Lots of nifty new stuff for the modders to play with.

Pretty much my thoughts, that and easily followable scripts for "under construction" buildings etc, which should make for some interesting mods on the horizon

BUT THERE'S NONE OF CONSOLE, bethesda throwing a bone to console players, this is not for PC players.
OK, building a custom house with lots of people to staff and and various features helpful to the player is a good idea. But after all the talk about Hearthfire being concerned with the Thalmor, the Psijics, and lots of other content, I was expecting something like Dawnguard, but larger.
Oh dear.
Well, one can always hope that there will be further work on expansions for Skyrim that will come out next year........
