Hearthfire - Thread #4 [merged topics]

I don't know if this guy could be more or less credible but i'm sure that one of the future dlc/expansion will be focused on magic, psjiic order and the connection between the great collapse and the volcano eruption in morrowind
Its just a guess based on some clear loading screen from beth that you can see in skyrim- you don't have to be a mage to understand it

Doubt it. Morrowind, particularly Vvardenfell, already had a game and two expansions devoted to it. Orsinium is more likely because:

1. Malacath has in-game stats, despite the inability to meet him. He's level 100, far stronger than the other Princes.

2. Orsinium has been conveniently moved to the Skyrim/Hammerfell border according to in-game load screens. The two previous Orsiniums were between Menevia and Wayrest, nowhere near Skyrim.

3. It is revealed that Orcs inhabited Skyrim long before Nords ever set foot in Skyrim by the wise woman of Dushnik Yal.

4. A new war is stirring with the Dominion and Empire. The Empire might want to recruit Orsinium and finally grant it provincial status, while the Thalmor may wish to restore Malacath back to Trinimac, Auri-El's greatest knight and the strongest of the et'Ada.
I just tought about couse of the news heard fo what happened to morrowind , but also Orsinium woudl be cool , I just hope that they will start going tough into a new land that has no snow all around .... so to vary a bit the snowy theme ....

Exactly, this is what I've been saying. Everyone is under the impression the next dlc is going to be magic based. For this guy to post an image from a house dlc that is a wizards tower from a previous game, and people to be like, "Oh he knows." It's silly. :P

Just remember all the complaints about vampires and werewolves being too underpowered - we risk to have mages that cast spells from their back this time

Its time for me to speculate baselessly! I have the wonderous ability to take a series of things and weave them into a plausible, workable idea which is never actually what the story ends up being. But you can see how it might've been!

Okay so. Hearthfire the month is actually September in the real world. Currently, its not clear who Tamriel's emperor is. But they registered a trademark for Hearthfire. For September.

September -- Septim?

I think itll have to do with the re-emergence of said dyanstic line.

For the people who don't know, the guy who posted this "leak" has posted 2 previous Mass Effect leaks, and both were very accurate. You can see here, the Hearth Fire "leak" is the most recent submission from this user, http://www.reddit.com/user/derptemp6698/submitted/

It still might be BS, but I think there is a good chance this person knows what they are talking about. They certainly knew all about the ME3 DLCs "Rebellion" and "Earth"
Im shure the person who posted that assumed everybody already knew what the spire was.
What was it?
A tower filled with mage items and new mage things.
Hearthfire in a nutshell?
Mage related stuff, there we go it isnt rocket science.

Maybe that wizards tower from Cyrodiil has been destroyed during the recent war and will magically appear somewhere in Skyrim.

Yup, in general, I am hoping for a magic related DLC, with heavy emphasis on magic characters, locations, items, spells and stories. I'd like a bit more Psijic, Aedra and Aetherius related content in Skyrim too. As for towers, I wouldn't mind owning one as long as it is luxurious and awesome (no cobwebs!)

Isn't the Wizard's Tower in the northern part of Cyrodil?

Perhaps the DLC will involve going into Cyrodil (or the northern portion of it anyway) to fight the Thalmor infestation? =3
or something like that. Anyway, I'm really hoping it expands on magic like some have predicted; I think Skyrim's magic is really lacking (especially Conjuration).

I think it will take less time than we expect, and will not be as big as Shivering Isles.

Dawnguard didn't take much to come out, and it added more eye-candy than solid hours and hours of replay value. And the Soul Cairn was fantastic at first entrance, but then I realized how relatively small it was.

If it's indeed a magic-heavy DLC, then I hope they bring quick-cast back. The dual-casting gimmick was not worth losing the ability to cast a spell while wielding a two-handed weapon without having to sheathe it first.

Oh, and spell-making. You can't have a magic-heavy DLC without spell-making. Well, you can, but then Beth's HQ would be leveled by enraged fans.

edit: OT, anyone having trouble changing their avatar? It won't let me upload a new one.

I see Dawnguard as Skyrims knights of the nine,But bigger and more content. And sure it will not be as big as shivering isles? Cant we expect at least one massive expansion? Two Dawnguard sized DLCs and one massive expansion? Well dunno.

Yes, I am hoping for at least 1 full expansion, like Shivering Isles. I expect Hearth Fire will be about the same size as Dawnguard. And then after that, they might release a full expansion pack.

I think the DLC might have something to do with the College of Whispers or expand on the Synod. Anything to improve the seriously leaking Mage questline. It also might have something to do with Jashe, the whitch queen of Whiterun and priestess of Lorkan. I hope it has to do with that honestly.

I posted this on another forum, so here it goes...

We've all been speculating what Hearthfire is going to be about. Some of us have suggested ideas based on the book and month of the same name, but I think I figured it out.

According to the dictionary, a hearth is the floor of a fireplace. To some, this is obvious and holds no significance, but let's look at another definition, specifically the word "ashpit".

According to the dictionary, an ashpit is the receptacle at the bottom of a fireplace, a hearth. You're probably wondering why this matters.

Malacath's realm is the Ashpit.

But Daniel, what in the hell makes you think it's going to be the Ashpit? Well, let's look at the facts...

Orsinium has been moved right up on the Hammerfell/Skyrim border. Highly convenient. There's a loading screen about the place. Bethesda has also devoted a lot of time and effort in introducing us to Orcish culture through the strongholds. Orcs have been given a huge overhaul since Oblivion. What for? The largest piece of the puzzle, however, is Malacath. Why? If you look within the game's files, you'll notice that Malacath has unusually high stats, moreso than any other Prince by a HUGE margin. Why would they give him such high stats when you don't even fight him, let alone meet him? Curious thing.

With all these things considered, I believe that Hearthfire is going to take us to Orsinium and the Ashpit. It's possible that it could involve redeeming Malacath. There's a war coming. It's time for the Orsimer to take their place within the Empire, to respark their fire from the ashes.

Mark my words...

Interesting. I would support this idea as well for one major reason. Name me a dlc that Bethesda released that pandered to one specific playstyle? Disregard the Mage Tower from Oblivion, that was an add-on, I'm talking a DLC with a storyline added. The answer is they haven't, because releasing a DLC like that would alienate the other 66% of their playerbase who doesn't use magic much. It is always possible yeah, but I don't see them doing it, especially if it involves the Psijic Order to ANY extent. You already encounter them once in the general game, so if you don't play up to that point, it would be really awkward to jump into a dlc where you interact with them heavily. Again, it could be done, but I have my doubts.

I really like this idea of going to Orsinium. I just want to have a new landmass to explore and see, and I think this would be perfect. Plus, who doesn't love orcs?

I'd like to see a mage-oriented DLC. But not one that's combat oriented. I want to see the politics, infighting and backstabbing between the various magical organizations. I want situations that you have to think your way out of, where starting a bloodbath isn't the first, best and only solution. I want to see intrigue, where a badly chose dialog option can be more dangerous than a knife in the ribs. I want a DLC I have to scheme my way through, where success relies on my using my brain instead of having a twitchy finger on the mouse button.
The player's class wouldn't even matter, how he/she handles a bunch of scheming, plotting, devious mages is what matters.

That's my wishlist, anyway. I'm obviously not holding my breath.

Isn't the Wizard's Tower in the northern part of Cyrodil?
Practically on Skyrim's south border.

To the Ashpit and Malacath idea, I like it and I have little doubt that it will be used in the future, but I feel like that would probably be a target for a bigger expansion (like Shivering Isles level expansion), not the next DLC.

Uhm, why is this in the Dawnguard section?
And btw: I would love it if Hearthfire was compareable to Shivering Isles in coolness and size.

sounds interesting, but it does seem a little silly to visit another province in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
If you fall underneath the map there is a very crude imperial city. Easter egg or groundwork for future DLC. But we know with strong evidence the next DLC will be magic.
i think that's just so that you can stand at the border of skyrim and see something

For the last time, Orsinium is not a province. This is the third time I've had to say this. Orsinium is a city. A possibly large city, but a city nonetheless. The name Orsinium even translates to "Iron City".

Again, Orsinium is NOT a province.
