Hints found about the next DLC Found in 1.8 Beta

Post » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:11 am

Wonder if we'll be able to see Vvardenfell and mainland Morrowind in the distance, since we could in Bllodmoon. That would mean they'd have to design at least some of the landmass though, and not have it as just a plain heightmap, which seems unlikely, or at least labour intensive.

Entire (or most) of Tamriel landmass is already done so that ain't really a problem (the problem was just that some people read too much into it and thought Beth would add entire Tamriel through DLC ^__^; ).
I think I even saw Red Mountain from one of Skyrim's peaks once but am not sure.

If all this info is true than im very excited, but if there is dragon mounts i wonder how will it work? Maybe a time limit? or maybe you can only ride them above the clouds and fight other dragons? interesting.....
Only restriction is that you has to keep some distance to closed cities. You can already see into them from mountains so it's not an huge problem.

He explained once (on Twitter I think, but might have been on Forum as well) that the problem is that DLC won't work properly bit a PS3 team is working on it.
As for why not remove it... you'd be surprised how much stuff is in TES games that is never used. Since it is a small thing, no need to bother with it.

Actually, he said it works fine, but not in all cases, so they won't release it until they can ensure it works for everyone.

Personally though, I think that line was a bunch of BS, because they sure didn't care about whether or not the base game worked for everyone before sending it to market.

It'll be as bad as Killcams, if true.

Yeah, you can see Red Mountain and White Gold Tower from a few places. I can't imagine making scenery in the background would be too much of a problem. Not like they would go hardcoe into detail and show trees or ruins or anything on Vvardenfell. Just a simple backdrop.

Edit: someone beat me to it already

We already can. I don't know about anybody else but in my game I can see Red Mountain and portions of Vvardenfell from the Throat of the World.

Solstheim was on my list of potential DLC I'd like to see but I was hoping for something else first. We'll know for certain sometime either this week or next, though.

I'm a bit skeptical about dragon mounts. I'd say the best we'd get would be riding Odahviing in a scripted event or something.

That heightmap is pretty inaccurate though (also lacks any detail at all), the scale is all wrong, which isn't a problem right now because we're over Skyrim. Solsthiem is much closer though, so we'd be able to see how bad it looks if they left it as it is.

Paired_DLC02RipHeartOut

So... the Dovahkiin is finally going to have his heart ripped out and truly become a Shezarrine?

I hope so.

I actually really hope they don't do Solstheim, primarily because a mod group has been working on it for months and are done the exteriors about now:

And also the whole been there done that feeling. Still, could be interesting having a bunch of Dunmer trying to cram themselves onto the island. Maybe New Vivec?

I guess they are trying to copy Dragon's Dogma.

Which seemed to be taking many cues from Skyrim. So a copy of a copy...

Unless some other place has Raven Rock, Castle Khaarstag, Solstheim fauna, etc. it is most definitely Solstheim.
As for modders... well, there is always a risk that Bethesda gets the same idea as modders. However, if the mod is good people will play it at least once.

nah i'm betting we do the trimac thing and do the heart ripping, way easier to play after the end boss fights, still that is a cool bit to speculate on. Damn i'm getting excited and it isn't even announced yet

I believe this dlc/expansion rumor is the truth, because did you noticed that in the last thread it went beyond the post limit, and not once a moderator say anything? Of course, they can't say its a lie, nor they can say is the truth because they can't reveal such things before an official announcement.

The mod has some cool ideas though, for instance there's a bunch of dunmer settlements across the south-east of the island now, and Raven Rock and the imperial fort are now ruins.
Still, the group still has 4E Hammerfell, Morrowind, Cyrodiil, Elsweyr (and a German High Rock team they sort of partnered up with) that they could work on as well.

Moderators don't know anything that we don't.

Mardoxx mentioned that "Paired_DLC02RipHeartOut" was next to the other finishing moves, so my immediate thoughts on this is that we might possibly be getting a hand to hand fighting style? Thoughts?
