re: FPS's..... did most of those mentioned actually have "locational damage" (arms, legs, everything), or did most of them just have
BOOM! HEADSHOT!?
(Yes, the head is a "location". But headshots=awesome isn't really the same as a full location damage system.

)
JKA had leg shots, body shots, arm shots, and head shots. And that's a very old game that used the very old Quake 3 engine.
Mount and Blade has head shots, body shots, and leg shots. And that's from an indie developer with very limited budget.
Someone mentioned Killzone 2 and 3.
Besides, all this stemmed from Bukee stating that nearly no game has location based damage (Initially it was, and I quote, "every game" that had no location based damage). There are so many games that do (FPS or otherwise) so I called him out on that one.
Now see I'm not even gonna bother discussing this with you any more cause your being a dike! And I don't care if a Mod sees that I called you a dike!! My point was, graphically,game play and everything in between wise games have come a long way, and I'm happy with that. Maybe if you played a game from the 80's or 70's for a good 10 years then maybe you would understand my point, but seeing how your spoiled with what you have you cannot see it for what it is.
Lets pretend I haven't played very old games just because I'm not absolutely content when a modern game blows a very retro (Ancient in some cases) game out of the water. Most modern games blow very retro games out of the water. Even the really bad ones. That doesn't mean that I will always have a case of satisfaction when a modern game comes out and it's way better than a ping pong Atari game.
Modern games aren't reviewed based on how good they would be in the 70s or 80s. Hate to break it to you.
Somone mentioned KoA's combat upthread. I've been playing the latest KoA, and while I find it's combat fun and entertaining, I really wouldn't want that in a TES game. Skyrim is just a darker, grittier rpg and having everyone jumping around during combat would just seem silly.
I've seen it brought up at a point of reference and used in some examples but no one is advocating for KoA type combat in Skyrim. At least as far as I know.
Anyhow, surprised the thread didn't reach the post limit. It usually does. o.O... O.o...
