Introducing Kinect Support for 360

Post » Tue Jun 12, 2012 5:19 pm

What happened was an employee figured out how to do it for the gamejam, they tried it, liked it and he and probably changed his mind.

Is he not allowed to have an evolving opinion of things?

absolutely.

i mean, the stuff they do in that video is almost too good.

that's stuff way beyond issuing basic commands to teammates.

What changed Todd's mind? Pre release he was saying how he had zero interest in the Kinect for Skyrim. What happened Todd?

Microsoft payoff obviously.

Some Kinect "facts" (from wikipedia, so take with a pinch of saltpile).

18 million units of the Kinect sensor had been shipped by January 2012.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect#cite_note-18-million-0 Having sold 8 million units in its first 60 days on the market, Kinect has claimed the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinness_World_Record of being the "fastest selling consumer electronics device".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect#cite_note-10-million-1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect#cite_note-Gamasutra-record-18http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect#cite_note-CVG-record-19http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinect#cite_note-Guinness-record-20 According to Wedbush anolyst Michael Pachter, Kinect bundles accounted for about half of all Xbox 360 console sales in December 2010 and for more than two-thirds in February 2011.

Doesn't seem like it needs that much help being sold and perhaps more people have a kinect than some are presuming?

Could people without a Kinect still get the quick save option at least? We could push both LB+RB and boom! I wish more console games would do this.

HI Gstaff. Hope you're doing great!

Cool. This makes me want to go Kinect-ict. Any chance we'll get anything similar for PC + MiC combo?

This is just planned for 360.

Not my cup of tea but great news for people who enjoy Kinect. Please tell me there's more Xbox news on the way!!! *cough*DLC?*cough*

Team is hard on work on the DLC. We're not ready to share news yet, but it's still coming.

So we're getting Kinect support, yet the game still has a [censored] load of bugs. Really Bethesda, really, especially when Todd was dead set against Kinect for Skyrim. I Can't express how disappointed I'm with you guys.

I reeeealy hope this is not the big announcement they were talking about... ... I'm on 360 w/Kinect and I honestly really don't care for it, I never use the thing. Plus I have room-mates, I don't want to be shouting at my tv when they are trying to sleep! How about some DLC we all so desperately want???

Well from the first two announcments of extra content being released, i'm not feeling very confident about what they'll release next.

As Todd http://kotaku.com/5885983/bethesda-skyrim-dlc-will-feel-more-like-expansion-packs, the team are still working on something big.

Just wow, G. Bethesda keeps raising the bar on itself and with the amazing creativity and talent it has, the possibilities are mind-boggling. I hope you're all wearing shades. Fallout 4 jumped into my head for some reason and the imaginings are continuing. Thank you for the news...and I don't even own an Xbox. Skyrim just keeps getting better and better. :tes:

Oh yay...Kinect support. Aside from gimmicky and stupid news, do you have anything relevant to gamers?

OK! Can everyone just chill out!

The kinect thing is NOT the entire dlc, as both the blog and Gstaff stated.
There is MORE comming in the way of dlc.

If you dont like the kinect stuff, then dont use it... Its that simple.

PLEASE READ before you start posting you dumb "Im a crybaby"-comments!

Also this.

Isn't there more that needs to be done besides Kinect?

Okay, so when Skyrim came out for 360 everyone was complaining about lack of kinect support, and now that they're finally adding it, we don't like it? Calm down guys. If done properly, Kinect support will only enhance Skyrim's popularity (and sales )

buggy and others yapping about the irrelevant and unrelated DLC-

your perspective is way off.

this stuff in the video is ANYTHING, BUT, gimmicky.

this is gameplay altering. instant menu navigation.

it's nuts and bolts. like many have said: they wish many of the features were just part of the regular game.

I really don't see the appeal of motion controls, I tried the wii and can't say it was all that great, I can't see kinect or move being much better.

Nice. I bought the connect for my 360 for ME3 (and no, I'll not get into a debate on THAT fiasco). It was cool to start with and had some nice features, but before long I realised I was using basically 5-6 commands, and the rest I was using the controller anyway. Then I saw the video showing the Developer fun pack (as I call it) showing the Kinect voice and I thought... if they ever fix the other issues, this might be enjoyable. 1-2 months later I have traded in my Skyrim 360 copy for the PC version so I could get the official fixes a month earlier than the 360, and to get the mods to make the game actually enjoyable (USKP, UFO, SkyUI, and so many more that I can't remember right now - thanks to the modding community). Also, the games looks a heck of a lot better on the PC (and I don't have a high end system, I'd say a middle of the road self-built game machine). Probably due to the HD texture pack DLC (was the 360 supposed to get the DLC first???). Anyway, thoroughly enjoying the PC version over the 360 version, and the release of the Kinect will not make me regret it.

The UI for Skyrim is the most intuitive UI I've ever seen for a console RPG. Yeah, it svcks somewhat on PC, but then you have SkyUI and a multitude of UI mods to change that.

Even though skyrim doesn't use it it's still the main reason to get kinect, I wouldn't bother with it for just one game.

this isn't a debate about kinect.

it's about what kinect is going to allow skyrim owners to do on their xbox.

and, the video is amazing stuff. not gimmicky motion control.
